  1. What Disney did to Star Wars is not what Black Stone should do to CGC. Really? CGC....Would it be possible to go through the records and determine that if I had books submitted then I would be allowed to get a approval or something to say the book is not counterfeit ? This idea kills the market place but would allow me to sell my slabbed books without fear(until the next time)? The flow path of this is on you...but something like I spend more money sending them to you and you give me a blessing....or even better if I show you the fact I got them slabbed myself then you give me the blessing? When in doubt "Slab it out". I really don't care but the market place needs to survive...action comics 1 buyers and sellers make up a small part of the market....everyone goes to work on the mass. BTW...got a Action comics 1 in house being graded with a mark jewlers ad....Just kidding....but part of this is a thought. Take your time and be fluid on thoughts but stern on counterfit. Make adjustments and duck and weave as like a Bumble bee.
  2. I have about a 150 slabs and most of them I did myself...What concerns me is not the random scammer but the lack of CGC to respond and protect their brand. The brand is huge and if not for that we would not be here talking. Please CGC don't go down the path of Disney and kill off the people who have faith and loved you, memories and money tied up in the industry. CGC don't be too worried about to be too big to fail, be worried about being too big to help all those who are wanting you to make your business better....We little guys are your core. 1) All re-slabs have to be re-graded! 2) FBI and all auction houses need to be aware of all books that could be affected...If not known then say " We checking it brother"...give us the little people hope that you are on it.... 3) The only reason I have an number 3 is because they always do....I just want to say thank you to all for keeping this thread alive....Thanks CGC and you will survive....just do 1 and 2..
  3. Pictures are subjective and I'm no expert...but you might be able to get a 8.5 or 9.0 If you get it cleaned and pressed. If I'm correct you then can look at the going price in that grade which is about 34 dollars. So, the cost of pressing and grading...plus shipping both ways with insurance (if app) would exceed 34 dollars so on the strict money side you might want to pass....However if your motivation is outside of money then you are right no matter your decision.
  4. I have a CGC graded 4.0 but If I had 3 of them I would add them together for a new 12.0 super GEM...LOL
  5. FF5...But the reason why is they are hard to find these days because they are so old and are extinct and falling apart. The FF movie will come out and it will bump up, but in the long run it will hold its own. I like Hulk 181 too but there are 644 hulks (1974) in 9.2 condition compared to 60 FF5's (1962) in 6.5. In fact if you total up every FF 5 graded in the universal tier there are only 1294 from .5 to 9.4. When looking at the worth today using Gocollect.com FF5=7750 Hulk181=6250 So, in summary I like both books but would go with the FF5.
  6. I paid for one and got one free....took less than a month and both showed up on the same day....Write Customer Service and Inquire again...
  7. Golden Age? nah....I was a Marvel KId...LOL I had dreams of silver age...LOL
  8. I took too long responding to all your serious and funny comments....thank you. My research determines that I can't afford insurance as I'm unemployed with no money in the bank...TMI I know. So, since the post I did remove the comics near the heater vent to another area a foot or so away. I joined CGC as a paid member now and hope to get more graded, re-slabbed, pressed/cleaned, and reholderd/pressed. The market dropped on our books but i'm planning to fix what I have and keep an eye on cheap books that come my way. The reason I am a "Bronze" age collector is because I was a kid back then so I have all my stuff and they have memories....but I know I will have to sell them so CGC is the way I will proceed when that happens....so in the next 10 years my plan is to finish grading my books that boost in value from doing it....the math I'm using is FMV from GO Collect vs RAW using various sources, analysing cost of book, insurance, shipping, pressing, grading, and reholdering and all the different combo's for each book. most of my books were unbagged and stacked in various boxes for over 20 years and not in primo shape....so not so many will pass this cost test....even when they do pass the cost test I'm going to have a really hard time letting them go.....someone send me a link on psych help needed to sell something that is part of your ID and past? Yes...some not all....but everytime I go through them I not only see the book and story, I see me and the world through different eyes in the 80's and 70's. So fun to have a hobby that preserves our past. Thanks guys/girls I hope you make it out your shelter soon healthy and rearing to go. Thank you all.
  9. Part of Email I got from Mile High @ 1224PST 03/24/20 New Comics Distribution Ends Howdy! Our world of comics profoundly changed today, perhaps forever. For the first time in my memory, all shipping of new comics has ended. We received that information in a letter from Diamond Distributing yesterday, in which they announced that whatever comics that they received from publishers this week would be held at their main warehouse, at least until the Coronavirus pandemic subsided enough for a critical mass of comics shops to reopen. Were this temporary publishing shutdown taking place in a vibrant and healthy market, I would have no concerns. Modern comics publishing is, however, an 87 year-old business (born in 1933), that has been in failing health for years. If even 20% of the comics shops in America cannot reopen after the pandemic restrictions are lifted, I doubt that we will see a revival. Simply put, both AT&T (Time/Warner’s (DC comic) new parent company) and Disney (Marvel’s parent company) are in dangerous financial stress right now. Expecting them to allocate precious resources to restoring print publishing is simply not logical. Maintaining intellectual property rights might have (barely) justified their decisions to continue to issue paper comics on a monthly basis up to now, but the vast financial losses currently being absorbed by those two media giants are going to require severe cost-cutting if they are to survive as ongoing enterprises. Sadly, keeping comic book publishing alive may well rank among the least of their concerns.
  10. My concern is heater vent blowing on comic boxes lifted off the floor by 2 inches.....any id on insurance as well? Not long standing issue as winter just hit but need advice before its too late
  11. I need your advice old timers....I'm a bronze age collector and have now much limited space...so I have built up a shelf of cinder blocks and boards to host my comic boxes....my worry is that the heater vent in my room blows on some of the lower boxes so i'm worried that will degrade my comics even though they are boxed, boarded and bagged....I feel and know i'm doing the wrong thing but ran out of space....any advice for the hoarder comic collector who still can manage? Also, anyone know about comic book insurance? I have no clue...please help on the full Monte or in part...will double check all feedback but thanks!
  12. Ah yes...Thanks again to all the individuals persecuted for their superior skills or intellect, most often by people who fear and envy them.
  13. thx to all who checked out the examples...Great feedback! thx again!
  14. Ok...some good feedback I see above, but take a look at these two books and tell me all you self proclaimed "experienced" graders and agree or not with the grade that CGC gave this 9.2...please? I will also sent a link for the exact same book but graded in a 8.5....I see a lot of slop in Grading using these two books as evidence. Here's the 8.5 on Ghost rider 1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/GHOST-RIDER-1-CGC-8-5-WP-1st-SON-OF-SATAN-UNDER-GRADED-SEE-OUR-9-2-AUCTION-/283494880372?oid=283494568560 Here's the 9.2 on Ghost rider 1 and to me it looks much worse than a 9.2 but there seems to be no doubt when you look at it side by side to the 8.5. thx https://www.ebay.com/itm/GHOST-RIDER-1-CGC-9-2-WHITE-PAGES-1st-FIRST-SON-OF-SATAN-BEAUTIFUL-COPY-/283494568560?_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l10137&nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true
  15. thanks for the reply. I also believe that the 9.2 book was not a 9.2. I attached another link of a 8.5 for the same book and I would grade the 8.5 higher than the 9.2 https://www.ebay.com/itm/GHOST-RIDER-1-CGC-8-5-WP-1st-SON-OF-SATAN-UNDER-GRADED-SEE-OUR-9-2-AUCTION-/283494880372?oid=283494568560 If this was football I would challenge the grade and risk losing a time out. Thanks again...
  16. I was interested in bidding on a CGC Graded book that will expire in about one hour but it looks like a scam. Yes, I know "dont' bid on it then" but I believe if there is criminal activity going on then those should be prosecuted. You guys please be the judge if CGC would actually give this book a 9.2?? thanks... If its seems wrong please pass this onto whomever in CGC that can further advise in false CGC knockoff's and comment. thx again. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GHOST-RIDER-1-CGC-9-2-WHITE-PAGES-1st-FIRST-SON-OF-SATAN-BEAUTIFUL-COPY/283494568560
  17. Please disregard my last comment...I figured out how to create my custom set...thanks!
  18. I'm not sure how to register this comic I just bought and wanted some help. I bought a 9.6 2001: A Space Odyssey #8 because it was the first appearance of Machine Man. The problem I'm running into is the I have to create a set and the selections are A thru Z and no numbers found...so I tried to create a "Custom" set and I did and named it "mac and cheese", but now that I created it I don't know how to add my comic to it? Is there any way how to do this? I'm not sure where a non competive "custom" set creation occurs...The comic info is 1364521007. Many thanks!
