  1. Thanks :3 Regarding that book: if I do send it in, I have various pieces of official information published by Marvel relating to writers, key comments, so on and so forth about Young Marvelman #370 - so I'm curious would the graders take into account the information I send to them, especially if they are pieces that were included in text by Marvel? There are only a handful of these books on CGC's census, and these are still rather rare books - especially the early issues and the last issue, respectively; hence, why CGC included hardly any information on Young Marvelman 370's companion which was: Marvelman #370 (published in the same month) - by which a link is here: Marvelman #370 CGC. For example, if I were to submit the page below, from Marvelman Family's Finest #6 (as Young Marvelman #370 has a reprinted story from YM #202), would they include it rather than leaving the details blank? As I'd be very surprised if your graders would be able to find the details other than here.
  2. Thanks ^_^ The company I bought it from - 30th Century Comics, to be precise -, also said: "No, it's not a facsimile". Also, @EwanUK, who used to be on these forums - though I contacted him on eBay (and he's quite possibly one of the foremost authorities on Marvelman and Young Marvelman, before he sadly sold his collection) said the following:
  3. I recently managed to obtain a Young Marvelman #370 - which is the last comic of that series (its cover is actually a reprint of another issue). But I noticed that the comic was in rather good condition, especially the cover: I presumed it was a facsimile. But several people (who have dealt with Marvelman comics) - including the seller 30th Century Comics - have said it's an original due advertisement on the back, slight musty smell, the rusty staples and the indicia. I did some research to discover that Marvelman/Young Marvelman facsimiles were produced in very small numbers (around 5 of each) by a UK dealer of the name Bryon Whitworth, in the early 1990s - they're very, very rare. But I'm curious whether your graders could assist me on this one, and whether they'd be able to detect whether it was a facsimile? If there a possibility if such a comic was discovered to be a facsimile that I could avoid having it encapsulated when sent in? Here are some of the images:
  4. Hey there ^_^ Thanks, guys ^_^ I felt the pages some of my other Marvelman/Young Marvelman pages - some of the earlier issues do seem to have heavier pages I do admit, but from my research certain Marvelman facsimiles were produced in very small numbers (around 5 of each) by a UK dealer by the name of Bryon Whitworth, in the early 1990s. But Galen, here's the indicia:
  5. Thanks :3 Thanks a lot, and have you come across YM comics in the past then? ~
  6. I was wondering what grade do you think this is? Would this benefit from a press or a clean? And also, and most importantly, whether this could be a facsimile? All comments are welcomed! Thank you ^_^
  7. Managed to get Young Marvelman #370 - the last issue and appearance of Young Marvelman; who would be later seen as Young Miracleman when Moore brought the series back ~
  8. Managed to get Young Marvelman #370 - the last issue and appearance of Young Marvelman; who would be later seen as Young Miracleman when Moore brought the series back ~
  9. I know Ludkins would for Pokemon, but not sure about CGC ~
  10. I already posted this in the Golden Age section, but I managed to get my hands on: Captain Marvel Jr #20. There's only one of these books encapsulated and that's a 4.0 on CBCS - with none being on the CGC, so I may send it in in the future. Captain Marvel Jr #20: 1st mention of of Young Marvelman in text form. Editorial announces end of Captain Marvel Jr series & start of Marvelman Jr (later Young Marvelman) The issue before, Captain Marvel Jr #19 has the 1st mention of Marvelman Jr - just different names but the same character ultimately.
  11. Captain Marvel Jr #20: December 1953 - the first mention of Young Marvelman in text form. There's only one of these books encapsulated and that's a 4.0 on CBCS - with none being on the CGC. Added notes: Clean condition throughout interior. No cut outs. All pages attached. Usual faint age marks found on these flimsy old comics. Spine strengthened with magic tape. This is the kind of tape that doesn't go brown with age and if it dries out & falls of, it doesn't leave a major mark.
  12. I understand, and I've emailed, Charlie, as this set-name (not a variant, but one of the four sub-sets of Base) being placed as Unlimited is going to be very confusing for some people - as well as being inaccurate ~
  13. PaulS, I'm curious about a few things, relating to 1999-2000: 1. Why is Base 2000 not classified as a set, but instead a variant? I'm bringing up this point as Unlimited, Shadowless and Base 2000 are in the same 'set name' category; yet, Base 2000 seems to be marginalised, if you please - as if anything, Shadowless isn't categorised as such, but Base 2000 is? There are four subsets/variants (set names) of Base Set: 1st edition, Shadowless, Unlimited and Base 2000, hence why I don't believe it should be separated, as it is within the Online Submission Form - more so as it's the last major change on the layout of Base. 2. Will it be known as Base Set 2000/Base 2000? Base 2000 was born with the passing of the 20th century; the CGC Online Submission Form agrees with this too, given you can only access Base 2000 by choosing in '2000' via the 'Year' selection. The advantage is that it makes it more concise and straight-to-the-point, dare I say trippingly on the tongue. This would make it a tad bit similar to Unlimited, Shadowless and 1st, instead of being needlessly cumbersome. It doesn't necessarily have to acknowledge 1999-2000 as surely that will be included in parenthesis anyway, for example: Charizard Pokemon (1999-2000) Base Set - 2000 - 4/102 Also, as with the name Shadowless, and given that PSA was the first to acknowledge the term in grading: will you entertain the possibility of it being shown as 'Base 2000'? I must also stress, PSA (who were amongst those who coined the term Shadowless), also acknowledges the term in my dealings with them:
  14. They're only doing Pokemon and Magic the Gathering at the moment ~
  15. Thanks, Jennifer - but this is a completely different inquiry but with CGC recently announcing they're creating a Card Grading system - can the 'Ask CGC' forums be used for Pokemon/MTG card updates and suggestions?
  16. Sure are haha ~ Check out some of the Topps cards ~
  17. Seems like just Pokemon and MTG, for the time being ~
  18. I'm praying they'll recognise Pokemon's Base 2000 set ~ But will they grade boxing and other sports cards?
  19. Hence why she hasn't been on in years ~
  20. Many thanks for forwarding these to your graders. I'm curious whether - if I do send a comic into CGC - whether I could also provide official information from DC or Marvel which would support such a decision within the 1st appearance criterion, dates etc.
  21. The Beyond is first seen on three occasions during the two books of Secret Wars, respectively (I've listed the first three as they progress, conveniently from corporeal, hidden, and physical form): Secret Wars #1 Appears as an unseen being speaking to the various heroes and villains. Secret Wars II #1 His silhouette appears on the front cover, and his shadowy appearance is seen by Molecule Man a few pages on. Secret Wars II #2 He appears on the front cover with energy emitting about him, and first appears in human form. Personally, I believe the CGC graders should approach this criterion as how they've approached both Jessica Cruz and Mister Mind: Secret Wars #1 Should 100% be classified as "1st cameo appearance (voice) of Beyonder.", similar to how Captain Marvel Adventures #22 is classified as "1st appearance (voice) of Mister Mind." Secret Wars II #1 Should be classified as "1st appearance of Beyonder in one-panel cameo (face not revealed).", as how CGC describes Green Lantern #20 as: "1st appearance of Jessica Cruz in one-panel cameo (face not revealed)." Secret Wars II #2 Should be noted as "1st full appearance of Beyonder". Conclusion: Some may argue a humanoid body doesn't define the Beyonder, and that his first appearance is Secret Wars #1, but I disagree, as the same could be said for Anti-Monitor, a being of corporal appearance and structure - yet, CGC recognises his corporeal form as a cameo, as well as acknowledging his full appearance in a humanoid-esque body: 1. The Anti-Monitor appears in the shadows to Psycho Pirate in Crisis on Infinite Earths #2 - nothing at all, only but a voice (exactly similar to Beyonder in Secret Wars #1) , in which CGC classes this as "1st appearance of the Anti-Monitor, in cameo.", and later classifies his appearance - while having a humanoid-esque body, in Crisis on Infinite Earths #6 as the "1st full appearance of the Anti-Monitor." 2. Ego the Living Planet appears on the last panel of Thor #132 - physically and his voice is included (more than can be said of The Beyonder on Secret War #1), yet CGC classes it as "1st appearance of Ego in cameo on last page." 3. Mister Mind's appearance in Captain Marvel Adventures #22 is noted for his voice, whereas Captain Marvel Adventures #26 acknowledges his full appearance. 4. The Mary Jane Watson listings: The Amazing Spider-Man #25 is classified as "1st cameo appearance of Mary Jane Watson, (face not shown).", Amazing Spider-Man #42 as "Mary Jane Watson's face revealed for, the 1st time in cameo on last page", and lastly Amazing-Spider-Man #43 as "1st full appearance of Mary Jane Watson." I very much hope this will be considered, given how long this comic has gone without being labelled appropriately.
  22. Thanks a lot; I'm just curious if my request to make Tomb of Dracula #45 the "1st full appearance of Deacon Frost" has been sent to the graders for possible consideration? :3
  23. This came in the post today: Amethyst #1 ~ Albeit a 9.2 and a Bronze Age comic (couldn't find the thread in that section), there's only two of them on CGC's census - and I have one of them
  24. When I do this - and I plan rather shortly with a few books I'm also only to include justifications and official documents too ~
