This Week In Your Plastic Crack, Action Figures and Toy Collection
Shaolingoat replied to Buzzetta's topic in Comics General
Bossk's figure always looked like his mom dressed him for his first day of kindergarten and he's waiting at the bus stop. -

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
Shaolingoat replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
It's true. He'll look at 400 books and almost pull the trigger on 1/3 of them--until he decides not to buy anything at all. -

Although I'm pretty sure that I've created a monster. Why can't he be content with SA Marvels?

My 11 year old son's goal at Emerald City last month was to find a "unique" raw GA book and submit it for grading. He finally found one after circling the dealers, and he proudly used up most of his reserve budget for the buy. The book came back this afternoon, and was waiting for him after school.

That's a great story, thanks for sharing it. My dad and I used to pretty much do the same thing in Indianapolis in the early to mid-80's. I'd grab a copy of The Trader on Friday, and we'd make plans to collection hunt all day Saturday. Good times.

That #4 is insane, and the colors on the #8 are impressive as well. Very Nice. I've got 1,2,4 in an 8.5 at present, with plans on upgrading my 2 and 4 to at least 9.2's this year depending on the market. I'll likely hold on to my 8.5 #1 though as I feel it presents very well. Other than those three 8.5's, the rest of the current collection is 9.2-9.6 up to 100. Looking to upgrade at 21 and 52, and eventually bump my 9.2 #57 as well. I'll echo your thoughts on the #56. I was able to grab a 9.4 #56 here off the boards last year, it's been difficult to find a well presenting copy of that in high grade.

By all means, it's always interesting to hear which issues have given other collectors trouble!

That's a killer looking book, congrats!

I'd been circling it for a little over a year, and finally broke down last week.

I obviously can't speak from a seller's standpoint, but as a collector this was a strong destination con in my opinion. I was impressed by the GA/SA selection that both the national and local dealers presented. The multiple levels of the convention center itself allowed for nice transitions between retail, gaming, and cosplay events. Finally given that the convention center is on 7th Ave and Union, you're close to the Pike Place Market and other retail offerings.

Special thanks to @blazingbob for loading me up with the following, and for a stack of raw SA Actions that my son walked away with on Friday.

I saw the Pennywise cosplay on the escalator but couldn't get a good pic, so I pulled this one from FB.

I'll post a few wall pics once I get back home tomorrow. This was my first time at the Seattle con, and both my son and I were very impressed. One of the better selections of GA books I've seen lately--particularly from some of the local dealers. Will be keeping this on the short list of shows to attend next year.
