  1. Some of these prices are indeed eye opening. However one thing that i am curious about. In the past when sellers have come on asking where is the best place to sell their original artwork the general consensus has been to send it to Heritage. I am now wondering if Comiclink has become the better avenue for selling original artwork or would these same pieces of artwork that sold on Comiclink for incredible prices sold for even higher prices at Heritage.
  2. But does he have any splash pages. If so maybe we could convince him that the Euro is going to crash and he needs to sell all his stuff now.
  3. I think you might be right. I also remember when the cover for the first issue sold years ago for $40K. A lot of people scoffed at the asking price thinking the buyer had paid too much. I dont think the buyer will be having any regrets today.
  4. Nice splash but i do think there are more than 2 splashes that dont have the Surfer on them.
  5. There was i thinking Ted might be a bit high on his valuation and then you come along saying you would pay more. Are Surfer splash pages really that expensive?
  6. Wow a splash page with with the Surfer and Mephisto. I spoke to a friend a few years ago who owns the reprints and i think he said half of them dont actually have the surfer on it. How much did you sell it for?
  7. Yeah sorry my bad. I was talking about the 1st series from 1968. I know that there are only 18 issues so its going to be fairly limited but some of them must be out there.
  8. Ive seen Silver Surfer pages up for sale on various sites but i dont actually remember seeing any splashes come up for sale, unless i missed it. Does anyone have any info i.e sales, ownership, price etc etc.
  9. I had to give it a little time and let things die down before coming back. Well after reading everyone's comments i made an offer of $20K which was rejected. I was still contemplating wether to increase my offer or not until i was contacted by someone else offering me another piece of artwork that i have been looking for.
  10. Yeah sorry my bad. I was thinking of the 7.5 copy. Is the serial number 1096231007? Its o.k there's nothing to worry about.
  11. Can i ask where you got the CGC Vampirella #1 from?
  12. Its difficult to answer you exactly without giving things away so lets just say i have time.
  13. I'll explain everything(nearly) seeing as you asked. Thor was the first character i collected as a kid and when i started to collect back issues the first issue i bought was Thor #126. I also began to notice that the artwork from this Jack Kirby guy was more unique than the other artists and so he became my favourite artist. When i realised eventually that you could buy original artwork for comics i started to seek a page from this issue out. Not many were showing up and the one's that did were either not for sale or were out of my price range. Then a friend that i spoke to told me he knew someone who had a page from issue #126 and so i contacted him(lets call him Mike) and asked if he was interested in selling but he was not. This was several years ago and i tend to contact him once or twice a year to ask if he was interested in selling and he kept saying no but to keep asking. This time round he contacted me and asked me to make him an offer so after reading what everyone has written on this thread i think im ready to make my offer.
  14. I would say the page shown to me is not as good as the one on the left but is better than the one on the right if that helps people to determine what a fair price would be.
  15. Thank you for going to the effort of putting those pages up and explaining what to look for. yes the pic on the left is a better page than the one on the right for sure. However when you say the one on the right is nowhere near $25K(and i agree) is there really that much of a difference in price.
  16. Well there are some panels where you dont see Thor's face because he is standing with his back to the reader or Hercules has his weapon raised from a side on position if thats what you mean.
  17. Probably closer to the latter. A page where if i make him a good fair offer he will sell but if not he doesn't mind keeping hold of it.
  18. $25K really? I was thinking of offering between $10K - $15K. Now im thinking he might find my offer insulting.
  19. I have been offered a Kirby battle page from Thor #126 but i really don't have too much of an idea as to what is a fair price. I have looked in the Heritage archives but that really has not been that much of a help. They have 1 large splash page and 1 non battle page but this is a page where the 5/6 panels have Thor and Hercules fighting one another. That's about all the info i can give so as to not let the source of the Original Art know i am making enquires.
  20. That should be 'restored quality grades.' Dupcak is the worst thing that has happened in this industry by far. not everybody got full refunds. I know collectors who sold many high grade books from their collections in order to buy better books from Dupcak who then had to return them to him because of the undisclosed restoration so ended up with neither. This deceitful, dishonest, cunning crook will try every trick in the book to get you to part with your money because thats what this low life scumbag has been doing most of his life. His ex-wife once came on a thread and said Dupcak has not done an honest days work in his life and i totally believe her. It was a bit sad to see in this thread that the real Richard Koo's has actually passed away, i wonder if he knew what dupcak was up to? I dont think i have ever said this about anyone before but had Dupcak passed away instead i would have said GOOD RIDDANCE.
  21. Halfway through this thread some people have mentioned the Detroit trolley collection with some pics of the comics they purchased. Does anybody still have a copy of the price list that Marnin had/sent out for the comics from this collection. I am particularly interested in the More Fun's he had for sale.
  22. Well seeing as some people are still asking about dupcaks past and im feeling a bit bored i thought i would post this oldie:- It doesnt take long to work out who comic-keys/dupcak is even though he pathetically continues to deny it.
