  1. Few more BA Hulks I scanned in. There's more that could make their way to the scanner.
  2. I liked that series. It was quirky, funny, a little different at the time.
  3. I guess it is Punisher #1 for some reason even though I do buy multiple copies of Uncanny X-Men #202, 205, 268 and Annual #14 when I come across them. My apologies for the poor slab pictures. I intend to buy a legal-size scanner for slabs at some point.
  4. Gorgeous copy! Congrats on the grade boost also. I definitely need to replace the one I sold last year.
  5. I have two. The nicer one is in for a press and grade. This is the other.
  6. A few of the ones I had scanned in. Some may be at the tail end of the SA going into the BA.
  7. @Pyromaniac I just checked. All I have are direct editions. Sorry. Good luck with the search.
  8. I'll check when I get home. I know I have a 9.8, but pretty sure it is direct. I have a few more raw copies, so there may be a newsstand 9.8 candidate in there.
  9. Currently working on a high-grade Dazzler, Transformers, Punisher, and Uncanny X-Men CPV runs. I've only submitted two for grading. Dazzler #23 and Uncanny X-Men #193 both came back 9.8. I have some other random CPVs, like the X-Factor 1-7 (#6 is a 9.6), Dakota North 1-2 (I'll probably submit those. #2 is a lock at 9.8), some Spidey, FF, and Cap books. I only have a few MJ variants, but none higher than a VF and they are some of the DC horror titles. Still need one X-Men 35-cent variant, and trying to complete my UK price variant run of X-Men as well. No 9.8's are likely to be found in my UKPV run, unfortunately.
  10. I like to swim in a sea of denial!
  11. I think most of my McFarlane ASM run is direct since some of those had unique box art in the box. I think 299 and 300 are the ones I have in newsstand. I will buy the newsies at a non-premium rate but I don't go out of my way for them. The ones that love newsstands, and bless 'em because there are quite a few, have taught me some stuff about the newsstand model. I respect their collecting choices because it keeps their attention away from UK price variants and (hopefully) CPVs.
  12. I have about 1/3 of vol. 1 and a little over 1/2 of vol. 2 completed. I think I got the pricey (or at least pricey ones now) out of the way early, but finding NM copies can be a pain in the butt. I've cleaned out my local shops so now it's all online/mail order for me. I know the pain though of wanting everything to be in a fairly uniform condition. When I completed my X-Men/Uncanny run, I went back through the issues from 100 up and started swapping out my raggedy copies for NM ones. Good luck to you on your quest.
  13. I bought my newsstand copy in the winter of this year and it recently graded a 9.8. I read this thread from the beginning and it is interesting to see the initial thoughts on how NM98 would perform from 2012 until now. I was late to the party on Deadpool. Growing up, New Mutants was at the end of its run so I never had any of those books, but picked up X-Force when it started. I only owned a handful of Deadpool books before NM98. The first two mini series and #54 and 55 because I was really digging the Punisher revival that was going on in the late 90s/early 2000s when Garth Ennis took over the character. Fast forward a while and I've had a few copies of NM98. A 9.2, 9.6 and now two 9.8 copies (direct & newsstand). I still own the 9.8 copies but sold the other two during a time when I needed some extra cash for other projects. I picked up an X-Force Megazine to read in place of a #98 whenever I decide to sit down and read the entire New Mutants run.
  14. I haven't seen anything for certain but I would assume so. The writing style since I got back into reading comics around 2013 (not just Marvel but a lot of Image and IDW as well) seems to be story arcs that space 4-8 issues then TPB that immediately follows. I've talked to a few shop owners who have had regular pull list customers stop getting floppies and just have them order the trades since they can get cheaper and have the whole story at once. The trades are definitely a viable format through the LCS, Amazon, or whatever other retail outlet one would like. I would guess that the digital only series would be made into TPB form. Again, I know that this is about Marvel but I do have a couple trades from IDW of series that were originally released as digital only.
  15. If it were a newsstand then you could trade it for a brand new Maserati.
  16. So, I love collecting pence and CPV books. I actually just completed my X-Factor run of CPVs yesterday with a package from Manitoba, and I have another coming with Dakota North #1 and 2 from Quebec. Nothing fancy, but I find them neat. Truthfully, I started doing the CPV thing after I finished my runs of various X-titles. So, I figured why not do pence and CPV runs for them as well. Getting back to your question, and these answers are purely anecdotal from what I've seen and should not be taken as scientific by any means. There seems to have been some confusion early on regarding pence copies. The confusion being if they were reprints or first prints. If you look at the index of a let's say Uncanny X-Men #100, you'll find that the index of the UK price variant matches with the US cents priced version (usually, as there could be exceptions). All of the ads are the same as well, with everything being listed in US prices. Another reason I've seen for some collectors not wanting them has more to do with continuity. By that, I mean they don't want to have a totally different currency in the middle of their run. Comic books are seen as an American thing, so having the US priced copies can be seen as more desirable. The CPVs are noted in dollar and cents signs, so for all intents and purposes, they look "normal". I think the attitude towards some of the pence stuff is changing, and some of the issues, especially the early pence copies, can be a pain in the neck to find. If you find them in super high grade (9.4 and up) then you might be paying a premium since they don't always pop up.
  17. At one point, Spidey had: Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, Spider-Man, Sensational Spider-Man, Spider-Man Unlimited, etc, plus his guest appearances in various other titles. Punisher, Punisher War Zone, Punisher War Journal, Punisher Armory, Punisher Back to School/Summer/Holiday specials, plus the glut of one shots and minis that came out throughout the 1990s. As an X-Men kid in the 1990s, it could be rough, especially around crossover time. Then I had to start buying Avengers, Excalibur, and some of the lesser X books that I didn't read regularly. I gave up during Onslaught. I wasn't about to go out and spend my grass cutting money on 1-2 issues of every title in the Marvel universe to follow that story. I do feel that a scaling back would be nice. Less titles but higher quality. Do a guest shot for a character in a series. If there is enough positive feedback, try a four issue mini series to see what happens. The films and animated stuff may dictate some of what is published by Marvel and DC now, while Hasbro pushes their toy ideas to IDW for some of those series.
