  1. Very cool. When the MAX line started, I thought it was only meant for the direct market and not the newsstand. Learn something new every day.
  2. I believe it may have had a sticker at one point. There is a faint circle with some light residue over the 8p.
  3. That's that attention to detail Marvel was famous for!
  4. Best pics I could find from the store's FB page.
  5. $50K in rare Fantastic Four comic books stolen from Calgary shop Long story short, 3 FF books stolen from Alpha Comics owner outside of shop. One person arrested, the other still on the loose, and the books still missing. Books are: Fantastic Four #1 with a CGC number of 2074628001 and grade of 6.5. Fantastic Four #2 with a CGC number of 2041541001 and grade of 5.5. Fantastic Four #13 with a CGC number of 204154003 and grade of 4.5. Just providing a heads up.
  6. As a collector of Marvel pence copies, I've bought more than a few books from SA over the last couple of years. Overall, the books were within the grade range stated with the exception of two copies of Cap 241 which were grossly overgraded. I will say that I bought a ToS 52 from Daryl probably about 11 months ago. I was fine with the books I had received prior so decided to take a chance on it. He graded it as a VG+, but it was graded as a 5.5. I considered that a win. However, when I asked for more pictures than the one pic of the cover, the response made it seem like I was making it inconvenient for SA. Basically, the response was along the lines of they weren't sure I was a serious buyer, the stated condition was accurate, blah blah. So, I was like challenge accepted and it was better than anticipated. Reading these accounts of his sunny personality make me hesitant for future transactions though.
  7. A quick press and clean and they're right back in the game!
  8. I've used it a few times. It helps when buying Marvel pence copies, because the USD to GBP exchange rate can be rough. If sellers offered more at a price in the range of maybe something like free, I'm sure I would hop on it more. But yes, it has worked for me as a buyer and seller.
  9. There's plenty of good stuff nowadays even it it might not seem like it. We tend to look at things through rose colored lenses. I have fond memories of the stories I read as a kid. I love 80s and 90s Marvel, but wow. Going back and re-reading some of that stuff is straight garbage. Clone Saga, Onslaught, etc.
  10. I'm stocked up on DayQuil, Sprite, and Campbell's chicken noodle soup to combat the virus. It's the medicine of my people. Then you get individual_without_enough_empathys like this.
  11. I got caught up on a lot of the new main series and Galaxies. I added the '84 series to my pull list, along with the vs Terminator series only because of the cover art. The new main series was a slow burn at first. I considered stopping after the first few issues. Basically, I got caught up on all the previous stuff and had a bunch of issues sitting in my file, so I continued and it's gotten better. It's still a long way from being of the caliber of More than meets the Eye or Lost Light, but it is far from sucky. I like Galaxies. It's like an extended Spotlight series since they're able to do more in multiple issues than a single one. I also enjoyed '84 one shot, so it looks like a mini series will come about from that with Simon Furman returning for the series. The first '84 one shot served as a prequel for the Marvel series, so I assume this will be set in the same Marvel continuity. Hoping some of this newer stuff holds up to the original IDW work on the franchise.
