Yes and no. Why do many people need a 'witness' from CGC before it gets entombed, or why are they given the option to purchase a hologram (on top of the $120 autograph fee?!?!) to prove Stan Lee signed their item. Aftermarket.

As it should be. But I wonder if we are in the minority or majority. Hard to tell when you go to these shows and see what people are pulling out to have signed.

There will never be a shortage of Stan Lee signatures out there. If you plan on selling a signed item (especially comic) and are trying to command a premium on your asking price for said signed book, that is a fools errand in my humble opinion. Supply has definitely outpaced demand.

I respect your opinion, but I disagree. I would take Avengers 4 over X-Men 4 any day of the week. Cap simply holds more water over the last 50 years than Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch. Avengers 4 brought him back to relevance.

It's not even close. Serious Kool-Aid drinking going on. Captain America is an iconic character, shelved for many years, then Lee/Kirby had the foresight to reintroduce him into the Silver Age. All he has done is remain one of the biggest players in the MARVEL U, both in print and at the box office. Go to Target/Wal-Mart etc and you can buy dozens of items with Captain America on it. How many Quicksilver or Scarlet Witch items you picking out.....ZERO. You are going to diminish A-4 because it's not his 'first' appearance?! Evidently somebody owns a copy of X-4 but not A-4, that is the only explanation I can see.

Seriously going to nit pick this one?! Ok 355 issues for Volume 1. My bad. You are right, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are a much bigger draw.

Remember that amazing Quicksilver title that ran for over 400 issues......yeah me neither. Remember Scarlet Witch in the Golden Age fighting Hitler......yeah me neither. Remember when Magneto....yeah me neither.

I think CGC is great for high dollar, key or rare books, that go to auction or for sale via the internet. It also adds a level of comfort to signed books, if people are into that. I think CGC is a waste of time for everything else.

I've got a hand gesture for him that is not owned, and Universally known.

The graders grader has a grader who graders their graders grade......DUH!!

To each his own. I have no desire to own a Stan Lee signed comic, and if I was staring at two comics, both in the same grade, one with a sig and one without, I would choose the more affordable copy (typically the one without a signature).

Hell that sig probably knocked it down from a 9.6 at this point.

Silver Age: Great! Marvel revolutionized the industry, great characters with real world problems, amazing artists, the Marvel Bullpen was in full glory. Lee, Kirby, Ditko, Romita, Steranko, Sinnott. Revolutionary. Fantastic Four, Amazing Spiderman, Iron Man, Avengers, Daredevil, X-Men and a revived Captain America....NUFF SAID! Bronze Age: I really liked it, probably because that is the era I grew up in. Comics were still fun, even though they still addressed some of the social issues in the real world. We got some great new characters including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and some new X-Men. Claremont pretty much revived the X-Men franchise, and Simonson's Thor was as good as it ever was. I'm a big George Perez fan too. Copper Age: You can see the darker stories and anti heroes starting to come into play more. Moon Knight, Punisher, Wolverine, not your A-typical leads. McFarlane, Lee, Byrne, Miller, all were producing good stuff. I guess we can consider Deadpool coming out of this era too (not my favorite character, but you can't argue his popularity). Modern Age: I didn't hate Heroes Reborn. I really felt like if they just would have let those runs continue, they may have been on a successful path to that relaunch. Some good artists came through, and the Captain America Winter Soldier storyline is still one of my most recent favorites. Today: WTF?!?! I have no idea what they are trying to prove. Their stories are awful, they reboot everything with new #1's at the drop of a hat. Instead of telling stories, they are working social agendas. And we all know what they have done to our favorite mainstay heroes. They better fix it fast. I'm lucky if I buy 1 or 2 Marvel comics a week. These are all just one man's opinion.

Lighting question- What are the do's and don't when it comes to display cabinets and lights? I know direct sunlight = bad. But what are the bulb options that are best?

Everything is cyclical. You will see more stuff come out when the older collectors start to estate plan or pass away.

True. But alas "America's Largest & Friendliest Comics Retailer", is also "America's Most Over-Graded", (along with "America's Most Antiquated Web Page"). They bring it on themselves.

I agree with most posters that keys first, but if you see high grade fillers, hard to pass those up.

Nothing....absolutely nothing. Secret Empire, Hydra Cap, Hydra Punisher, it's all garbage. They should have just slapped a WHAT IF? on the cover of these stories. Cosmic Cube will reverse all, end of story. Thanks for stealing my money Nick Spencer.

Curious what will happen to his place, more particularly his business model, once Chuck passes on (face it, we are all on this temporary journey). If he is leaving this to family members, do you think they will just liquidate it and get out, or try to keep it going. Perhaps they know he has a hoarding problem, and don't want to address the elephant in the room when he is around. Personally, his asking prices are a laugh, their grading is sketchy at best, and they are not the only game in town.
