  1. Also, I've seen that ad on the back of one of my wife's horror comics recently. Let me see if I can track that down.
  2. I agree that it's a really nice looking 5.5 I haven't been paying much attention to EC's humour comics, so I wasn't aware that there was a Canadian version of # 1 (and probably others).
  3. FYI: Ivan Kocmarek has a new column up on Comic Book Daily that's worth taking a look at: http://www.comicbookdaily.com/collecting-community/whites-tsunami-weca-splashes/75-years-canadian-comic-book/
  4. 1st GA Deadshot is pretty sweet, mind you it is a Canadian reprint with fewer pages than the US version (only 36) and has inferior print quality. I find these desirable, but not everyone shares that view. It's a cool piece of Canadian comic history, though not nearly as significant as the Canadian Whites.
  5. There's some really fun stuff there, Bob. I really like some of the horror books. It must have been a pretty good collection, as you have some eclectic stuff at auction on eBay right now too. Kudos.
  6. That's a beautiful run of Weekenders. I imagine that took some time to procure.
  7. I have to agree with this, at least to an extent, because whenever WECA books seem to come up for sale they are almost always Anglo-American comics (and not just the ones that brunom perpetually has available in his eBay museum).
  8. I see your point. It's really hard to gauge what Robin Hood # 1 might be worth, since nobody seems to have one. I think your right about Freelance # 1, though. I've had my eye on a coverless one (with a photocopied cover) that's been on eBay for a few weeks with no bites for $400 USD: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/381490734432?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT The seller says in the item description that it is "...probably harder to find than Action 1." Meanwhile, in general, coverless American keys fetch thousands (if not tens of thousands) and sell rather quickly. Maybe this is a supply and demand issue (limited supply, but limited demand)? Either way, for the moment, I'm going to enjoy reading my new Freelance books.
  9. Stephen, is that your poker face? I don't know if I could hold that book without smiling!
  10. Out of curiosity, what is it that you don't agree with? Is it the values/collectability discussion? I'm interested in your point of view.
  11. I added four books to my collection this week. All found on eBay. First is Dime Comics # 10 (missing two centre wraps/8 pages)
  12. You are likely right about this. In fact, I hope you are: I would love to be able to procure more Whites. But, nobody's banging on my door looking to sell previously unknown collections of WECAs.
  13. It's quite telling that the Triumph Adventure # 1 is the highest graded (and only) copy in the census, whereas there are over 60 copies of Action Comics # 1. It really demonstrates just how few of these early Canadian Whites are still out there and how much of a treat it is to see such an important book on the forums.
  14. I have a Dime Comics # 10 on the way that is missing two centre wraps (pages 29-36). I don't suppose that anyone here has a wrecked copy that has the pages I am missing? I figured I would have better luck here than on one of the "I want to get married" threads. Any help or leads will be appreciated. Here's the one in question: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/172025160744?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  15. I only have issue # 9 of Black Rider. I haven't seen this one before, but I really like the cover.
  16. I'm just as surprised as everyone else! I had been planning to post my picture of HT35 to brag, but...
  17. I just bought the same Human Torch issue a week ago in Halifax. I think yours looks better than mine! Sweet finds.
  18. I posted this in another thread, but figured I would post it here too. My Canadian Sheena # 1 (actually #5 cover and interior). I've had it for a while, but have not come across another. Anyone here seen this before?
  19. My wife and I have been actively trying to buy Canadian comics for a couple of years. We mostly have DC superhero stuff that was published in Canada in the late 40s, but this is one of our more oddball items: Sheena # 1 (actually the cover and interior for Sheena # 5). I have not seen another one. Does anyone here have one?
  20. That's an amazing copy. It puts mine to shame.
