  1. Another fantastic episode Felix. Loved the back and forth. Enjoyed the questions going both ways in the sense that Dr Ng asked Felix almost as many questions as Felix asked of his guest. If folks haven't taken the time to listen, do yourself a favor and do it. It's lots of fun if you are passionate about comic art. Would love to hear what others took from the discussion. Dr Ng definitely has a super interesting perspective on comic art. While he seems to collect primarily for nostalgic reasons - he doesn't let that nostalgia get in the way of logic when it comes to spending. The most interesting comment for me was the one about spending 20k on a dark knight page that is "OK", and that he doesn't really love. He justified it by saying that if he were to re-sell it, he wouldn't have to worry that he would lose financially on the transaction. On the other hand, he compared that to buying a Fun Home page that he loves -and pointing out that if he were to pay 20k for that page, it would be a bad idea since he could never recover his money from it (since he values such a page at around 1k -that would mean a 95% instant loss.) This discussion kind of explained in a nutshell the fine line that all us art collectors have to walk -between collecting what we love, but being mindful that we don't (potentially) throw too much of our money away in the process. The 2nd most interesting thing for me was the idea that asian collectors or younger collectors would rather have a Jim Lee, Adam Hughes or Frank Cho page than a Watchmen page (price not withstanding- that is if you had to pay the same for any of them). Well - I am not asian, but I am in that boat. A lot of the time, people like the art attached to a story they love. That's how I see Watchmen. It served the story masterfully. For me however, it's dull to look at. On the other hand, I have a lot of Jim Lee/Adam Hughes/Frank Cho comics that frankly suck - but I still love them because I didn't buy those comics for the story in the first place. I bought them for the art. So owning the original art from those comics is a step up. Not sure how many of you - collected comics primarily for the art? the story or a combination. It's easy to say combination -but that might depend on the era you grew up collecting in?
  2. Hey Terry, I am new on the boards - but by chance are you a dentist?
  3. Is the spawn a commission or an actual cover? If so what issue is that from.
  4. I am not 100% sure (so folks out there that know more can correct me) but I think its just a matter of pedigree. Like from 'mile high collection' in comics.
  5. hey Felix, fantastic podcast as usual. At the end of the podcast you hinted that you were going to record another one with newer collectors etc.. is that going to be the next one?
  6. i was thinking the same thing. but when i realized it was you Jade Giant who said it first, I couldn't help but think " Hulk getting mad! Want to smash bumping"
