  1. You beat me to it... I was going to cite Baker Romance books as an example. I can't see how they can hold at current prices over time. I agree with GGA as well. Only the wild bondage/menace covers will maintain value, in my opinion. I'm actually surprised by the strength of non-key cover pre-code horror right now. I think in the long run, these books will start to fall by the wayside and the keys (BCM 50, WM 5, MM 12, etc.) will keep tracking upward. Disclaimer - I keep buying a lot of stuff that is either undesirable now or will be in the future, so I have no horse in this race
  2. Interesting points about Avons. So what are the Avons of today? Stuff that sells for top dollar but will be undesirable in the future.
  3. For the sake of understanding, the solution to this problem is the following: 1. You're not getting a refund and your money is gone 2. You'll get your commission someday 3. And it may take even longer if Josef wants to pursue more paid commissions in the meantime Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. I honestly don't see how any explanation is going to make this problem go away. There's no excuse for taking a customer's money and not communicating (or bending the truth) with that customer. It takes a lot of damn work to write e-mails for two years to find out the status of a commission. Even if Josef were to finish the piece or refund the customer's money, what is that customer's time worth?
  5. Amazing book, and even more amazing that you were able to pry this away from comicdey!
  6. Clearly the problem with this thread is not enough Thomas Kinkade. Just saw the news that Thomas Kinkade passed away at age 54. If not for this thread, I would have had no idea who Thomas Kinkade was. I think I liked it better that way. The landfills of the world are breathing a little easier today.
  7. That mailing envelope is in better condition than everything in my collection!
  8. Feb 28... Feb 28... didn't that one have a story about some squid thingy? Yes, looking for a squid from space story.
  9. All this great Burroughs material! Can't anyone help a brother out with a Weird Tales Feb 1928?
  10. Bought a set of color guides from r100comics and it was shipped very well-packed and very promptly! Great communication! Thanks!
  11. That set of WT is one of the coolest things I've ever seen auctioned. I wish I could see the first five years of that series up close.

  17. Just got the second one today Very cool. Congrats. Are those white things the cases they're in? If so they look very heavy duty. Nice well-matched pair!
  18. Hello all... I have something (not a comic) that I've never seen before. I've seen other volumes of the Royce Quick Reader series, but never this Poe one. Anyone have or seen one of these before? This book was published in 1942 and features five Poe stories (Black Cat, Purloined Letter, Mask of the Red Death, Berenice, Pit and Pendulum). 128 pages but is only about 3 inches tall and a little over 2 inches wide. Has about 10 b&w interior illustrations.
  19. Since Greggy sent me real money and seems to like the pile of drek that I sent him in return, he's a good guy in my book.
  20. Yes! One of my favorite covers! Very underrated.
  21. Very nice! I like seeing rare books here on the Boards. I prefer books to comics anyway
