  1. I found this board because I got a bad feeling about a deal and Googled their name, so these kinds of threads definitely do help the uninformed.
  2. I'm in this camp. I read the boards every day, but purchases have been minimal. This is mainly due to school, kids, and a first house all hitting nearly simultaneously, while also having narrow interests and being generally conservative with money. It's also partly because don't believe in the valuations on a lot of what's out there--I can't afford the high end stuff that may retain its value over the long term. Gene's comment about spending your kids money also rings true with me, which influenced buying a rental house instead of art during the last quarterly auctions (plus I could get the house with no money down while Heritage didn't go with that plan). The bright side is that I'm going through my comics for the first time in over 20 years and that should generate a nice chunk of cash to blow on art.
  3. He just changed his ID to sandmancometh, so you must have got his attention.
  4. PSA: throwing water on a grease fire will only spread the fire. If you have a grease fire, your best bet is to cover it somehow. With a lid or baking soda, for example.
  5. Word on the street is that he's liquidating the collection to pry BA12 from the hands of the billionaire comic art collecting circle.
  6. My first submission! 25 moderns, no FT. Received 5/8 Verified 5/8 SFG 5/24
  7. I've never cared much for anything Valiant puts out, but, yes, that is incredible.
  8. Can someone confirm that the Goseki Kojima piece was actually a Lone Wolf & Cub-related item, as described in the listing? My understanding is that it's a noodle ad. I'd love to get something from him, but didn't bite this time (which I may regret since they aren't common).
  9. Funny observation, but I've been in a resort for the last 13 years and there's been an inordinate number of galleries around the whole time.
  10. What are the odds that, in 10-20 years or so, the Fritz pieces are worth even close to what as paid for them yesterday? I'm pretty ignorant of the market, but won't most Fritz fans be aged out by then? I guess you only need two people with rabid interest and a pile of disposable cash, but that should be a tough ask by then despite the quality of the material. The pool of interested buyers must already be fairly small.
  11. I cannot believe that you guys are doing this to yourselves again.
  12. PGM JLA #1 Hi Folks, It'd be great if I could get some kind of estimate on this book. There's a fair bit of restoration on it--something that I have basically no experience with. Here are links to larger scans for anyone interested: http://imgur.com/a/W3ZT0 http://imgur.com/a/5gSu8 Thanks in advance!
  13. Cougrcrumby is coming back as an invalid ID for me.
  14. I spent a lot more time reading comics than I did playing D&D, but TSR's art takes up a lot of shelf space in my mind. I only had one Dragon magazine (I still can't believe someone bought it for me). I read it to death and stared at the cover a lot. I look forward to losing an auction for it one day!
  15. I just made my first submission, and didn't see the credit being applied either. I am assuming that they'll apply it when the charge goes through. If not, then I'm sure a call/email will sort it out. They do mention the credit it the FAQ, though it's a little vague whether my assumption was correct or not. https://www.cgccomics.com/faq/index.asp#membershipFAQ10
  16. There's a Bob Kane attributed sketch on HA, finishing next weekend. Robin has a cat's nose. The inscription looks to be written with a different marker than what's seen on the rest of the page. https://comics.ha.com/itm/original-comic-art/bob-kane-batman-and-robin-sketch-original-art-1968-/a/121719-11113.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515
  17. It doesn't look like you're going to get the answers you're hoping for on the board. Perhaps a therapist might be able to offer some independent perspective on the issue?
  18. Someone on the boards (I can't remember who) a few months or a year ago really got on this. A few posters started reporting obvious fakes, but ebay mostly ignored them. I'm guessing that if ebay starts policing forgeries then they may open themselves up to liability when fakes get through, though that is just a guess.
  19. You've had a great few months, Michael. Congratulations on the nice pickup.
  20. Thanks for mentioning CCE. I'm close to Vancouver and anticipate selling more stuff over the next year or so, so the savings will be appreciated. Kind of incredible that CP's rates are so out of line with USPS that this business model exists.
  21. It's pretty tough to beat a strip with Bill, especially with those gams in the second one!
  22. Every time I see this thread update I know something is either priced to not sell or a bagholder is on the road to losing some money.
