OK, I see they changed the series name. I'm not sure if that favors the OA valuation.

It's not my money to spend but my rationale for Guy Gardner 1 cover finishing lower than the Green Lantern 195 cover is: * it isn't from the main Green Lantern series * even it it is a #1 cover, the series only ran 16 issues * the cover doesn't play up the fact that Guy Gardner is a Green Lantern. If fact, if you look up the cover the only green you actually see is the DC logo and the "first issue" blurb. https://www.comics.org/issue/51871/ * weird hairstyle

punisher 1 limited series cover by zeck
Will_K replied to drdonaldblake1's topic in Original Comic Art
Well, if you mean his appeal... to me. Yeah, kind of. Those last 2 covers have the weird Zeck faces. And I remember the whole Zeck / Phil Zimmelman thing was a big deal back in the day. Also, I know it's supposedly an iconic cover but it's funny to see Wolvie and Cap sparring. Noone has to worry about bidding against me for Zeck art. -

Just to be clear, it’s not my page. It is easily found by searching for “wood heck” on CAF. -

I always get a laugh at the thought of this page (Avengers 20 p 10 by Don Heck and Wally Wood, written by Stan Lee). Hawkeye claims his arrow is faster than Quicksilver. What crappy Marvel melodrama !! Gardner Fox never would have written a hokey JLA story where Green Arrow challenged the Flash with one of his arrows. -
New Inks Over Old Pencils - If Ya Got 'Em, Flaunt 'Em
Will_K replied to Dr. Balls's topic in Original Comic Art
I've seen that Kevin Nowlan ink with his flourishes so that the penciller might not be obvious. I don't know Ivan Reis' work so well but the Nowlan inks seem very faithful to the pencils. I think "faithfulness" is what people want/expect from any "after the fact" ink commissions. So far, we've seen good penciller / inker pairings. -
New Inks Over Old Pencils - If Ya Got 'Em, Flaunt 'Em

I just saw that you posted this on CAF. You have real guts to commission inks over real pencils. Not really in the same ballpark but I got a Black Canary drawing by D ick Giordano on ebay. Some time after, I asked him to ink the pencils. I was commissioning him for a separate piece at the time. -
Unlikely that a restriction to US addresses generally cost sales. If absolutely necessary, a collector can ask a US based friend. Paying by check would not bother me. I'll have to run the numbers and figure out the capital gains on my art sales this year (paid by check). Good luck with your sale.

I have a few Nick Cardy covers to DC Horror books and a couple Cardy complete horror stories in my CAF. This is an unpublished piece by Neil Vokes that isn't in my CAF. He explained that The Wicked West had been optioned for a movie or something. This is a promotional piece he created with that in mind. If you've never read it, The Wicked West is a graphic novel about a man in the Old West that happens on a town of vampires. The GN alternates between the "reality" of the experience versus a movie inspired by the events. I love the nude painting hanging in the saloon but for the horror reference (aside from the pointy earred guy and other Easter eggs), you'll have to look to the right.

On occasion, I buy TV Guides. They'll be marked with the city applicable to the TV listings. I basically bought the TV Guides for the covers. But some people want the TV Guide that was specific to their hometown TV networks (e.g. local channels/shows/times, ads, etc).

Going back a few years, I haven't been a big fan of seeing so many Jae Lee commissions where the figures are in profile. Also, not a fan of the Phantom Stranger's dislocated arm. Is Constantine's smoke supposed to represent something or spell out a word ? Very distracting. And ignoring that, from a sartorial point of view, Constantine's pant leg seem to be draped all funny and there are way too many breaks. -
I don't get it. You say Giffen disliked the Phantom Stranger. Also, he didn't create the character. Why is he an authority on who or what is the Phantom Stranger ? Even in the 80's Secret Origins series, they had an issue with 4 different origins: https://www.comics.org/issue/42350/?

Not sure if OP was expecting a critique of all of Babs. As for her neck, it looks fine to me. I think your mind is playing tricks on you because the back of the cape rides so high up the back of her neck.

any info on GalaxyCon Columbus, December 1 - 3, 2023 ?
Will_K replied to Will_K's topic in Comic Events
Thanks for the info @carcrawfordfan and @Cman429. Since my original post, I decided to take a chance and go to the show. I looked at a few youtube videos from the 2022 GalaxyCon Columbus show. From those videos, I saw just one comics dealer. I don't mind looking at other stuff but I don't spend $$$ on it. I think my general goal will be to get a few things signed (non CGC'ed) and meet some comics artists / writers. Maybe get a few sketches. I will probably be spending a lot of time just walking the aisles so I'll provide some feedback upon return. -
Interested in info re: GalaxyCon Columbus. Has anyone ever been ? They posted a very short video form last year's GalaxyCon Columbus and it didn't appear to have comic dealers at all. Does anyone have experience buying comics at that show ? For example anything from $1 boxes to higher end comics ? Thanks. https://galaxycon.com/pages/galaxycon-columbus-guests

Kudos to the letterer, Jim Novak, for using the durable inks !!! -
Kind of disagree re: creating a single HA thread. And can't really be "enforced". However, a simple thing to improve all the HA topics... include HA's official "Auction #" and/or auction dates. In CGC's Comics Events forum, they do a good job of putting the comic show's name and dates in the topic's title.
