How does this compare to the 8.5 that sold for $552K a few months ago?
-
As hard as it is to grade in 9.8 in the first place... probably won't see many more, right? I also find it odd that this comic barely beat out UF4 variant when you look at the census numbers; however, the content really seems to matter more on UF4. I never would have thought that UF4 variant would reach the numbers it has (same for the ASM 667 variant).

It's going to be interesting to see which variant comic pulls ahead in this months HA auction: UF4 or ASM667? Anyone want to make a friendly wager?

MOST VALUABLE MODERN VARIANTS - THE RANKINGS

I'd buy all the books. Silly question :P -

Comments like, "with that kind of money, I would have purchased <INSERT MY FAVORITE COMIC HERE> instead," offer no value to this conversation. You're just a back-seat driver who obviously hates freedom of choice. Accept the bold move and move on. ASM 667 Dell'Otto may not be your cup of tea, but to MANY others, it is definitely a key they wish to own. This sale may also be quite an outlier if two people were in the hunt to finish off their collection. Perhaps $20K-25K is where this comic really sits. Obviously, that number seems to be 15K+ too high for many who've already commented. Only time will tell if another copy becomes available again. I know of at least one collector with THREE CGC 9.8 copies. I doubt he will sell any of them, but you never know... -

It could bottom out with the rest of the modern variants. Or it could jump to 100K. If I had a crystal ball... only if... -

It's still a very young book, so that element still exists/persists. As mentioned, there are a lot of sales in the five figures and it's a rare book. -

People buy what they like and will spend $$$ on what they choose to spend their hard earned cash on. ASM 667 variant is an interesting book. A lot of people are going to rag on the sale, and that's fine. That's why you collect GA books and others collect modern. Overall, though... the book is quite rare and seems to be very difficult to get in CGC 9.8. It is still a very speculative book, though. -

I just spent $10K on a book full of boners. Save me. -
I am the sucker who got the Batman Hush double page spread. Yes, I love batmobiles. Yes, Batman and Nightwing appear submicroscopic (hey, it's still 2 for 1). This is going on my wall with my Rob Liefeld collection of muscular superheroes with one too many pockets. In all seriousness, I like the piece a lot. I bid what I felt comfortable with :)

The Official Comiclink Winter Featured Auction (Ends Mar 9)
cmzare replied to jjonahjameson11's topic in Original Comic Art
I went pretty deep on the Batman 618 but lost out. I may kick myself in the butt later, but the final ending price was more than I was willing to spend. I did get to pick up that sweet sweet Walking Dead #24 Splash page. -
What about the boner-ific Batman 66?

Another opportunity for a 9.8

The Official Comiclink Winter Featured Auction (Ends Mar 9)

Batman 618 cover now at $51500... yikes -
My upper limit bid on that TMNT #1 CGC 9.8 was $28K w/o BP (second highest bid). Someone went a step higher. Sadly, it may be a few years before another 9.8 pops up, though you never know. I won the 9.6 and really did not expect it to take off to 20K+. I agree that the OW-W pages shouldn’t account for a $12K price differential; however, it could be possible that someone thought they saw something in the previous auction to merit that price (I.e. a press job that could bump up the grade). I think the range for 9.6s are in the neighborhood of $12-15K. The 9.6 I won presents good enough for me. One day I’ll add a 9.8 ;-)

Batman #618 has tapped me out. Congrats to whomever gets it -
Yes, ComicConnect has a mega ton of Walking OA coming up... thanks to this thread I was fortunate enough to nab a pretty cool WD cover from a boardie.

I am in search of some original art from the Batman Hush era as well as anything I can find on The Walking Dead :-) I know that there's a ComicLink auction up for Batman 618 cover by Jim Lee, but any other help in this category would be appreciated. Thank you!

I believe this hits $40K, too. Is this a $40K book? The price has jumped exponentially... or could just be the perfect storm of two people really wanting a 9.8.
