  1. Going over it, it looks like the inks don't match the game cover. So now I am curious what it was inked for.
  2. No doubt they should've inked a blue line, but at the end of the day, it's still a published venom cover.
  3. I think the price is okay given it is the special version cover of Ultimate Spider-Man for PS2. Many video game art collectors would be happy to have a Spidey game cover in their collections.
  4. Wouldn't a higher level of Canada Post shipping service transfer to some kind of priority USPS package when it crosses the border? Just curious.
  5. Heritage is having a special original video game art section with a live auctioneer this Friday (Jan 20, 2023). There are some awesome, historically significant pieces and also a wide range of entry-to-mid level pieces. Check it out! https://comics.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?Ns=Price|1&Ne=1896&N=6717+793+794+791+1893+792+2088+4294937837+6566&ic4=SortBy-071515
  6. I love this video, but I'm extremely biased
  7. These Activision Spidey games were real gems back in the day.
  8. One of my early goals when I got into video game art collecting was getting video game works by Julie Bell and Boris Vallejo. Fairly early on, I snagged a cover to an unreleased SNES game by Julie (Arcus Odyssey) and later acquired the Boris (Onslaught) a year later from a fellow collector.
  9. Since we're on a Sonic kick, here's my fav!
  10. There're lots of fantastic posts of original artwork to look back on and enjoy, that's for sure!
  11. I recently had the privilege of visiting Mike Sass up at his studio to pick up this recreation of his original cover art for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Mike was BioWare's head of promotional art for about a decade and worked on all of BioWare's games from the mid 1990s until the mid 2000s. His video game artwork was originally digital in nature, but he is also a very talented traditional painter. To render this large piece was a lot of work, but the final result is fabulous and he even managed to capture all the cool effects of the digital version. I'm thrilled to have this unique piece of game art in my collection!
  12. I know I'm necroing this thread, but I had to share this! https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1728339
  13. Framed a few months ago, but one of my favourites from my original video game art collection.
  14. I think there's an interesting parallel here with Pokemon cards when compared to NES collecting. The base set Pokemon cards have lots of variants, which I think helps to drive the price moreso than the later sets: 1st Edition thick/thin stamp (all 1st editions are shadowless and I believe thick stamp was first), unlimited edition shadowless variant (quite rare), unlimited edition with shadow (most common). Then there are also ghost stamps, which are kinda neat.
  15. Here are a couple new video game covers in my collection. Break Time, NES and Turrican Alternate!
  16. Very happy to have this piece! The real question is, can I afford more?!
  17. I acquired my first Boris Vallejo! This stunning piece is the cover artwork to a game called Onslaught for the Sega Genesis. Edit: The piece is 17 x 24 inches
  18. I figured this thread could use a little bump! I acquired a piece that takes me right back to the turn of the century. I became a huge Resident Evil fan back in middle school (my first introduction being Resident Evil 2 on the N64 in 1999). I read the entire book series by S.D. Perry many times over and was thrilled to recently acquire the only traditionally created cover art for the book series and one of the handful of actual paintings for the whole franchise. The art is by Steve Gardner for Capcom/Pocket Books.
  19. Two vintage pieces of Nintendo advertisement artwork drawn by the legend, Neal Adams, in 1989 for Nintendo. The head art was published in many ads and on official Nintendo signage of 1990 and on. I haven’t identified the larger group image yet, but it is some kind of ad for Super Mario Bros. 3.
  20. So many great covers! Even the unpublished or alternate ones (biased).
