  1. I think for the majority of creators it makes sense to go Yellow label, if available. But for big names that charge a graded premium that's greater than the yet-to-be-determined verification fee, or for creators that won't do CGC signatures at public signings (e.g. Todd McFarlane), I could see it making sense. As for creators getting the extra money from a signature up-charge, the pessimist in me wants to say that's not going to be true with any artist that isn't representing themself.
  2. Yeah, it seems like a lot of us are waiting patiently for more information. Hopefully we'll see more information soon! Really cool book you have there though!
  3. People have historically submitted comics with unwitnessed signatures for a universal label, and specify that you want it to be graded as a blue label instead of Qualified. But they will treat the signature as a defect and ultimately lower the grade. You may want to wait and see what information CGC releases in regards to the upcoming Verification system since buying JSA. That way you can avoid a grade drop, and the green label.
  4. I've never used JSA for anything other than signed photos, so I'm not sure if they authenticate the art.(Their website also doesn't make it clear about anything other than signatures.) I'm sure CGC will have more information on this when they announce more on the service this month.
  5. Hey, welcome to the board! You can find the answer to this question, and many more, in the pinned thread at the top of the Signature Series forum. Note: with CGC buying JSA that answer may change in the near future.
  6. Very sad to hear. The few conversations I had with him showed that he was a very nice and genuine person. I was only able to get 1 sketch cover from him during his last KS campaign, and I can't see ever parting with it.
  7. CA's website states shipping will start Q2 of 2024. Out of curiosity, I checked the census and I didn't see the Catwoman variant they have listed. So I'd assume it hasn't even happened yet.
  8. The seller claims they've had these books in their collection for a while. If they bought it from someone else, they might have been one of the first people to buy a tampered book. Which would really stink if the rest of that description is true.
  9. Just as a note for future cons, Captured Collectibles are a CGC facilitator, not the other grading service.
  10. Curious to see how they differentiate the JSA verified books from witnessed ones. I'd hate to see them go the route of a competitor and keep the same label for both...
  11. @StewartCA Captured Collectibles has been announced to be there via Indiana Comic Con's Instagram page.
  12. Looks like they're just starting to announce professional comic guests. From what I've seen in the ICC fan group on Facebook, there is still currently no one set to facilitates the show. Hopefully someone facilitates, because I was wanting to get a few sketches too.
  13. Captured Collectibles will be there. Rich Henn will also be there, if you're looking at sending in.
  14. This always happens to me. Makes me mad because the potential for theft. I've never had this problem with UPS or USPS... I would love the option for picking our preferred shipping method back.
  15. That means creators and reps will stop tacking on a CGC upcharge now that we can (once again) prove that signatures don't always add value to a book... Right? RIGHT?!? (This is sarcasm in case that's not obvious to everyone.)
  16. If it's a must have piece for your collection, I'd suggest asking the artist to hold the piece for you when/if it gets returned to them. Hopefully you'll still be able to get the piece, and have the money (actually) go to the artist.
  17. A bit off topic from what's currently being discussed, but with everything going on I'm reminded of another situation where I was disappointed in the service provided by Cadence. A few years ago I ordered a sketch cover commission from an artist that was a presale for a convention, but able to be shipped. I was impressed with the art they used to advertise the opp and was really excited to see what else they'd do with the character. After about a year of waiting for it to be shipped to CGC for grading, I asked for a photo of the art since I had waited so long. I was sent a photo of the exact art used in the announcement. I was disappointed because, while I liked the piece, I was expecting to get something made just for me. I didn't mind so much at the time, because the price of the "commission" wasn't much more than the headache of trying deal with it. (Knowing how their communication can be, I didn't think I'd get a response until after it was already shipped to CGC.) Thinking about it now, I'm just hoping the artists didn't get screwed out of any money for what was essentially a non-commission. I shouldn't have held my tongue, but I've just added it to the list of red flags to look for in future purchases. That being said, I ordered a page from 8 Billion Genies that made it to me fairly quickly. So, it's a 1/3 for satisfied transactions.
  18. I have been waiting a while to get this book signed by Barbara Eden. Thanks to Twin Cities Comics for facilitating this for me. She's going to be at a show near me sometime this year, so I'm hoping to find a higher grade copy to get sent in. That, or I may try to get this one pressed by someone other than CCS.
  19. Just got the images back from CGC on this one, and everything worked out in the end. The facilitator just forgot to write in the date on the paper form. I'll forgo attaching the new ones directly, since the art is the same. I'm curious to see if artist direct submissions will change in 2024 with CGC requiring an electronic form when sending books to facilitators for conventions. Regardless, I'm glad this got sorted out.
  20. I tried looking up the cert number and got the error "This item cannot be found." I believe that is typical for prints, photos, and the like since they aren't graded - only encapsulated. CGC has stated in the past, in the Ask CGC Forum, that only certain collectibles are added to the census. (Comics, Magazines, and possibly Lobby Cards.) You may need to contact the shop for the information you're looking for.
  21. Just curious, did you get on Collette's most recent commission list? I know I've seen a few sketch covers here on the boards but wasn't sure if you, or anyone that has posted her work before, got on her list. I missed out last year and figured I couldn't say no again.
  22. I have the same bok waiting to go. While I wouldn't have thought to have him sign the back, I think his signature fits well there since there's a lot of white space.
  23. I know that CGC themselves haven't been to this show since... 2017? Agents of Slabs was there a few years ago, but I don't see it under anyone's drop down box on the submission forms. This may sound weird with it only being 3 months away, but it may be too early for anyone to be decided if they're going. Guests just started getting announced, and I'm hoping they have quite a bit more to come.
  24. In case you all didn't know, you can request refunds through Celebrity Authentics if the signing hasn't happened for a year after you bought your preorder. I wasn't aware of this policy until I had an issue with an order from one of their more recent preorders, and thought I should share.
  25. CA opened a 9.8 book for preorder with a cover by Greg Capullo, if you don't care what the book is.
