  1. Hey guys I haven't had any luck in the "buying" section, just wanted to see if anyone had any dups of these to help me out. Just looking for raw reader copies so I can complete my sets and read them, as cheap as possible really. Any help is appreciated: Volume 3 (Image): 16, 17, 21, 23 Volume 4 (Mirage): 28, 29*(29 is likely way out of my price range unfortunately lol) TMNT Adventures (Archie): 71, 72.
  2. This is the correct answer, PL responds to fan mail and unfortunately some eBay sellers take advantage of this and try to profit from it. The sad part is they're often so cheap that they just send him index cards to sign.
  3. Wow Rich just saw your Kickstarter for #73, what an awesome idea! Glad I backed it in time!
  4. Saw Neal Adams was added, that's huge! Just need Jim Lawson, Eric Talbot or someone TMNT and I'd make the trip LOL!
  5. I just completed reading Volume 1 in it's entirety for the very first time. I was quite surprised by the "guest era", some I enjoyed greatly ("The River", and the issues by Michael Zulli in particular), some were quite awful IMO. I know Eastman/Laird were busy with TMNT blowing up as a global phenomenon, but it really surprised me that they sort of let their "baby" (the original comic) get taken over by random people. From the fan letters they would print, it seemed like the fan base was constantly begging for Eastman/Laird to return. To anyone who was actively reading it at this time, how was it perceived then? Did sales drop because of the constant "guests" and lack of continuity? SPOILERS BELOW: I also had very high expectations for "City of War", and although it was pretty good, I didn't find it particularly amazing. The Casey Jones/Gabrielle/Shadow thing just seemed like a complete waste, and I kept hoping the "old man" they kept referring to would end up being Shredder instead of just a truly random person. I then moved on to Volume 2 for the first time, I must say I am just not particularly fond of Jim Lawson's turtles. I think it's the awkwardly "square" mouths, it just bothers me . Anyway, I enjoyed Volume 2 and the color (Casey as a Schwarzenegger mock was pretty weird but at the time I'm sure it was funny). It seemed to be moving on just fine, when suddenly in the letters they were announcing they were done making TMNT comics. Just wondering what caused that, was Volume 2 that bad at the time? Awful sales? Did they lose their fan base because of the "guest" era or what? Just genuinely curious. I'm still on the hunt for a few issues from Vol 3 Image, and Vol 4 Mirage before I can continue, but it has been a blast catching up on the comics. I love the old stuff, but it has made me appreciate the current IDW series even more.
  6. Right, but weren't 30-32 as well? I'm just wondering why 30-32 can be had for $30-$100, but 29 is darn near impossible to find, and seemingly $700+ now. I suppose 29 was the "last" of the series at the time and perhaps just sits in set collector's hands? From what I've read Volume 4 wasn't particularly popular, and was only selling ~4,000 comics each release, so I don't think it was because of demand. I haven't been able to find any answers, but it is funny looking at old threads and seeing people complain about the $10 price at the time! Just wondering if I am missing something! Congrats to those who own one!
  7. Starting to figure out how expensive some of the later Volume 4 issues are. Is there a particular reason why #29 goes for so much? I know it's a print of 1,000--but so were 30-32 I believe, and they are at least obtainable!
  8. In my quest to build all TMNT sets, I just left the LCS a happy man. Ended up with Vol 1. 41-62 (minus 52/58), and Image 2-6, 8, 9, 11-15, 18, 19, 20, 22. All for about $3 each. None of these have ever even been read and were stored away from when they were originally released and didn't sell. So stoked! Definitely didn't expect #62, and all those Image comics! Cowabunga dudes!
  9. FYI I believe there is a mail-in signing very soon and the cutoff is Dec 11. Correct me if I am wrong, I need to mail in my copies this week!
  10. 40% off prints/comics/collectibles for members on Eastman's website, ends tonight. (Check e-mail for the code). Pretty sweet perk! Also a "Cowabunga Bonus" will be included... Hmmmm?
  11. We digress, regardless of eBay morals, my point was that if something is listed that you have been looking for forever, it does not hurt to ask the seller if they have a BIN price in mind (if there are no bids). They can even send you a private BIN offer through eBay if they wish. Sorry for bringing it up.
  12. The majority of the time it ends up still going through eBay, the seller may just add a BIN option for me, or lower a BIN option. So that's not a big deal. I've also never done this for an item that already had bids on it (not sure if Steve's did or not, but that is definitely crappy if so. He'd still have to pay eBay fees on whatever the highest bid was at). eBay profits millions and millions of dollars on pure fraud from allowing sellers to sell autograph forgeries (which I have spent years fighting), fake items/memorabilia,etc as they play "dumb" to it all. So I don't feel "shady" at all taking money out of their pocket personally. To each their own!
  13. He listed a few more last night. He probably has a decent stash, but is aware of the market and realizes he should sell them very slowly--just when he wants some quick cash. (Like right before X-mas maybe?) I have a decent stack of a pretty rare baseball card of a player who has some hardcore collectors and I do the same thing, I only sell maybe 1 a year, otherwise the "value" would plummet. If there is something I see listed on eBay that I have been searching forever for, the first thing I do is message the seller immediately and ask what their best price is, and that I'd be willing to go directly through PayPal if needed. Saves me money, saves the seller on fees! I'd say ~80% of the time I'm successful at working out some sort of deal to buy it immediately (whether on eBay or PayPal). If it's something you want bad, message the seller immediately!
  14. Apparently 40% off all comics on Eastman's website today only. Use code "CyberMonday" at checkout!
  15. This showed up in my mail on Friday which was my birthday, such a great b-day surprise!
