  1. Since it seems that all the effected books are beyond my budget, it's highly unlikely that I will end up with one. However, I still find this situation very concerning. It will effect my purchasing habits. If I have a choice of buying a current CGC slab or a current Voldy slab, I'll be going with Voldy. Even though it may defy logic, I'll still have that "what if" feeling. What if someone switched out a book missing an MVS with one that doesn't? It doesn't even need to be a high dollar book for this scam to work. The high dollar ones are the only ones caught so far. My confidence that the book that was graded by CGC is the book in the case is shaken to it's core right now.
  2. Well, imo, that gives a lot of credibility to the rest of the texts being real.
  3. I find it interesting that only universal and signature series labels are called out in that list. There are no qualified, restored, or conserved labels called out. I guess they're not too concerned about those being swapped out, but we know that some of them could be donor books.
  4. I realize this is a far fetched idea, but how about putting matching microchips with the certification number and possibly a picture of the comic on the inner holder and on the label? They are already taking pictures. The use of microchips is a technology that they could implement very quickly with no retooling of the current case or inner well. Then all that CGC would have to do is to make sure that the the two microchips match and that the inner holder isn't damaged.
  5. I this is the group Andrew Rochon is an admin of, I'm not surprised. I got booted from there YEARS ago for the high crime of disagreeing with him over something. As for the scam, I hope the thundering silence from CGC means that they are concerned about this and looking into things.
  6. As far as I'm concerned, this Yugoslavian Cap comic is the furthest thing out there that I've even seen! Mind you, I've only ever seen this picture, and I can't imagine how hard it would be to find, but it would probably wow any Cap collector. Or, for something a bit easier to find , how about a Golden Age Captain America Comics comic?
  7. That's a pretty cool site!! If you could make it an app, I doubt that anyone would have a problem with a $2.99 or $3.99 a month price tag with maybe a 7 day free trial. At least, that's my personal experience. But as a website, I'm not so sure. Apps have kind of spoiled things that way. I don't know how much work or money it would take to turn it into an app, but I'd much rather have to pay a fee for an app.
  8. This is from page 8. I was wondering exactly what he meant by the part I outlined in red. Now, I think I know.
  9. I'm not sure what page it's on, but I grabbed a screen shot.
  10. Encasing a chick tract would be risking eternal damnantion For me, it wouldn't be the first time. 😈👹
  11. Does anyone know if Black Flag is at a con this weekend?
  12. That would make him an artist and a retailer. An artist and a retailer is still a retailer. Yeah, it sure would. I was just giving @shadroch an example of an artist selling his own exclusive covers. Horn is the one I know of. I'd be surprised if he was the only one.
  13. Greg Horn does comic book store exclusives and exclusives just for his art store. I'd think some other artists would do it also. GREG HORN ART STORE
  14. This tells me that what happened with BF and Crain is not, and was not, allowed by Marvel at any time. It looks like they are sending out a reminder ("remember") to everyone just in case other retailers are thinking of doing this. Then it looks like they changed the wording in the contracts to make it crystal clear to everyone!! Perhaps they decided to specifically call out acetate covers.
  15. Does anyone else think that Clayton Crain's days of being an artist for Marvel are over?
  16. Methinks that CGC was getting too much heat for their label announcement, so they are doing something for a distraction.
  17. That's just cringe worthy! But hey, at least they are wearing gloves. SMH
  18. I've got a few. I know I have more, but these are the pictures I have handy. If I run across any more, I'll be back to post them. This is one of my favorite cover themes to collect. The last one isn't a lamia or Naga, but I had to include it.
  19. They're still listed in the census.
  20. Of course, even IF Bad Idea gives them away, you KNOW they will end up being sold somewhere. My question is in regards to the census. Having them in there lends credibility to this amazingly stupid idea. @CGC Mike any chance they can get erased from the census?
  21. The author of the book? I don't believe he is a chemist, but I could be wrong. Regardless, I'll trust information from the Journal of the American Institute for Conservation.
  22. That's why I went to that site. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down cellulose fibers, just not as bad as regular bleach.
