  5. No offense to those I emailed...but why can't they say...."Hey dude...this book aint worth restoring money wise...but...if you want to pay..I can restore it to the best of my ability,.,,,," Instead of 1) ignoring my emails...2) dude...sorry..its not worth it...bye....3) Keep it as it is,....bye.....4) sell it......buy something already restored if you can...I mean really...Value is relative to a person. And yes, it may not meet the current going rate--but isn't that what is so cool about this hobby? We want to relive our past...sometimes money doesn't matter...that 8.0 you had in the early 80's was affordable...now it is not....
  6. How about you remove the money equation....what if this book has sentimental value...why is everyone so concerned about value? Why can't I choose to pay to get something restored regardless of whether it makes sense money wise? Yeah...I get it...but what if I WANT a high grade copy of this book regardless of whether I loose money or not? Why are all the comic restorers so focused on value? Why can't I just say..."hey....you want money? Please restore this book because I use to have this book as a kid and it means something to me emotionally....." This book also has a small split spine.....I think it would look gorgeous restored...it may not make logical sense money wise...but who cares? I am willing to pay for it.....everyone is so concerned on value and worthiness...what if I don't care?
  7. I have a FF4 that has a spine split and some artwork that has been "scrapped" off the cover...I think it would be a good candidate for restoration. Any ideas on who to ask or submit it to for restoration?

  10. But on the bright side.."supposedly" every parcel that is scanned is immediately photographed by a computer. This way we have actual pics of the barcode and parcel as it is scanned in the morning. With GPS, we can locate a missed delivered parcel--that is, we can pull up a map on the computer and it will show us exactly where the scan(s) of the item took place.. I had a customer once who said she never got a small parcel that I delivered. The supervisor and I looked it up and it showed scanned delivered right by her box--so I had delivered it to her box...The next day she calls and says it was in her box-she didn't reach further enough to touch it....The USPS has some made some progress but still has a long way to go if we even exist anymore in the coming years.
  11. Yes..this is how it works....Carriers even have tried to fight management on these issues because it is not fair to the customer...There should be an option for "package delay" but there isn't...You are right..its all about numbers on a sheet of paper.
  12. The reason for the scan is that upper management wants all scans cleared every day--there is basically no room for failure..If a parcel was missorted early in the morning and does not get delivered, then it has to be scanned something. As of now there are no options on the scanner for a "postponed" delivery...Usually it is scanned delivered (when actually it is isn't-it will go out the next day) or it is scanned vacation hold--which it will go out the next day as well. Don't blame the carrier even though some substitute carriers make mis deliveries...we are all human...The issue is upper management...and the system itself is flawed.
  13. The parcel was fine. No damage. I think these books where already in this shape before sent out.
  14. I bought two new recent books from them that arrived "damaged"...I mean they were simply not "new" NM books...they had bends, and creases.....I emailed them and they eventually said for me to send them back...they would not provide a return label....I actually had to open up a dispute through paypal to get this started...I sent back the books-which they got end of August and still no refund...only a refund of $4.00-for return shipping...??.....I uploaded tracking info to paypal....I dunno...they aren't being professional...still no refund...
  15. Finally....artboy here on the forums did this a few years back.....$80 shipped...
