They tore the covers off 3 of 15 books in a submission i made in mid 2019 (2 nm bronze and a fn pch). Will never trust ccs again.

The last time I used CCS, I sent them 15 books and they detached the covers on 3 of them. Two were nm bronze batman keys. The third was a fn range pch book - they detached and fully split the cover. Prior to that batch, I was not impressed with their work - often the books looked uncleaned and unpressed. I've since started cleaning and pressing my own books and am now confident in saying CCS's clean and press services are amateur. Prob too much volume and they are rushing the work and damaging books or just doing a crappy job on them.

Yeah, whenever they open the box. But they get backed up sometimes and have a 2-week backlog on boxes so it might not get opened right away. If it says ME on it they will open it right away....same with express and walk-thru, I write EX and WK on those and they get opened and logged right away.

They told me to write "ME" on any such reholder submissions for mechanical error and it would be expedited. 🤷‍♂️

Here's a new book I just acquired which was recently slabbed by the seller. Maybe we should organize a newton ring month and no one send any books to them the whole month. Might get their attention. I recently called to ask what they are doing to address the problem, and received an email response. Along with a cut and paste of the "there are acceptable levels of rings on all our holders, and library of congress says theyre fine" boilerplate , they assured me it is not a defect with their product (duh, the product isnt doing whats its supposed to, which is properly display art, so yes its defective), that its just a visual effect. Also, they are working on a modification of their holder. No details. 👍🤷‍♂️🤔

How did this get past QC!? No way I can sell it in this condition. When a company sends this out to a customer its just insulting.
