  1. Just picked one up and it's working way better than my Mustek. Thanks for the heads up.
  2. I have some CGCed Ditko Spider-Mans to sell. Can anyone tell me if Comiclink is a better option than Ebay?
  3. I gravitate to artist that put a lot of work into their creations and Sam Kieth is absolutely one of those artists. There aren't many that are willing to take risks in their art styles or subject matter. Mr. Kieth goes places where most fear to tread. Have a look. Two-page spread Batman
  4. I was 14 when Heavy Metal opened in theaters. It was the perfect age to be seduced by Taarna, the most beautiful animated character ever constructed. I added a couple of rotoscope photos I own of Carole Desbiens the woman who modeled as Taarna. Have a look. Taarna
  5. Do not hold onto the piece for a while to see if you can get past your issues with it. A couple of years ago I had a commission done by an artist whose comic was like no other I had read before. I wanted a piece done by the artist of this very unique character with a very unusual costume. Before the piece was sent to me the artist's rep put it up on his website. I hated it at first sight. I had a lot of problems with it but my main concern was that for some reason the artist gave the character a completely different costume. The mask was the same but the costume was substituted for something you would wear while playing paint ball. Other commissions on the site had him in his proper costume but not mine. I went back to the comics to see if he had ever warn this but he hadn't. After a lengthy conversation with the rep on how I felt about it I agreed to hold the piece for a month to see if my feelings would change. That was a stupid choice on my part. Life happens, you get distracted with other more important matters and suddenly several months have gone by and it's to late. I had that art for about two years and each time I looked at it I hated it more than the last time I looked at it. Eventually I sold it for less than I paid but it was worth it just to purge myself of the piece. It is the experience that has slowed my role of getting commissions. Long story short do what you need to do NOW! Even though you like it for the most part the problems may become more magnified for you as time goes on.
  6. I had a similar situation with a commission where the artist used so much white out it pulled me away from the art. I asked him if he would try again and he did. I think that on many occasions the artist knows it isn't his best effort but hands the art over hoping the fan doesn't mind. If you don't say anything then he figures it's good enough for you. If it is bothering you now it will bother you forever. Tactfully and respectfully ask him to do it over. He may not be satisfied with what he did.
  7. I just put up two really great Elementals pages. If your a Willingham fan have a look. Elementals first page and Elementals second page
  8. A couple of years ago I was at the Guggenheim in Venice Italy with a friend. In one of the rooms they had several Jackson Pollock pieces which in IMHO is the most over rated garbage the "fine art world" has ever had to offer. It is at best aesthetically pleasing but nothing more. My friend had taken art appreciation classes in college and told me that one of the first things you are taught is how to defend art regardless of your opinion of the piece. So with that I attacked Pollock's work and he defended. It was fun. On a few occasions I have liked and sometimes purchased pieces that a fellow OA collector and friend has felt compelled to question my taste. He is not subtle about it. He just tells me it's awful or uses a poop emoji. I don't get insulted. I think it's fun. So let's have some fun. This piece is going to be auctioned off soon. It is a piece that I really like and my OA friend gave me emoji poop for it. Most likely I won't bid on it because it just doesn't fit with my collection but there is something about it I find compelling. The reason I'm choosing this piece for us to critique is because I don't think anyone will have any feelings of nostalgia to get in the way and we won't feel afraid to insult any collector or artist in the comic art world. So go at it! Do you love it or hate it? Why?
  9. I'm still wondering who this artist is. I've added a more complete picture of the piece. It was a prelim for what would have been a poster for a movie called Highpoint.
  10. I forgot to mention this one. There was a Frank Cho cover that I have been strongly considering for years. I felt the price was too much but if I were to come into some money that would easily cover it then I would buy. Recently a good chunk of money fell onto my lap so I went to the site to have a look at the piece. To my shock a signature by Stan Lee was recently added to the piece. To make matters worse he signed it on Ms. Marvels hip. I may have been able to live with it had he signed in on the side but now all you see is Stan Lee in black marker covering the sexiest part of Ms. Marvel. Heart breaking.
  11. My favorite piece ever done by Linsner. I also posted a beautiful page from All-New Ghost Rider by young up and coming Tradd Moore. Linsner Moore
  12. A very strong sense of nostalgia may make me break my deal breaker rule. I'm anti restoration so I would have to be able to live with it as is so it would really have to be a piece that pulls at my heart strings.
  13. This I find surprising. Even if the art on the overlay is by the artist himself?
  14. There was a piece I was considering bidding on in the next HA until I read that it was Sunstruck. There is a lot I can get past but a piece that has seen too much Sun is a deal breaker for me. Art shouldn't see any Sun at all. So what is your deal breaker if any?
  15. The people who would leave CAF if asked to pay a minuscule $10 a year are not contributing now anyway so so what if they left. $10 a year for the service Bill provides is almost the least you can do for what that site provides. It's a hell of a lot more palatable than $75 which is why such a small percentage do it. At some point CAF is going to be to much of a financial headache for Bill to bare. It's amazing he is still doing it. It would not be a lot to ask for everyone to pony up $10. I think most members would do it. It's $10 a year people. Can you think of anything you pay $10 a year for that holds as much of your interest as CAF?
  16. Does anyone recognize this artist?
  17. My newest latest. A brilliant Grendel cover. Grendel
  18. Just added these two new pieces to my collection. The first is a Bill Willingham page from his two issue Huntress story from DC Showcase '93 and the other is a page by Vatch Mavlian from Spider-Man/Wolverine. Mavlian and Willingham
  19. I have ASM issue 16 graded 8.0 for $850 and issue 33 graded 9.0 for $450. Buy both and pay less. Let me know if you are interested before they go on ebay. I also have issues 7, 20, 30, 34 & 35 all CGC graded. Please let me know if these are also issues you are looking for. Pay Pal or check is good.
  20. I am so pleased to have Greg Hildebrandt's interpretation of my Dave Stevens Aurora prelim. This is a huge piece measuring 24x18. The Hildebrandt Bros. work over the years have been favorites of my father and I. I'm over the moon to have this. Special thanks to Jean of Spiderwebart for making this happen. Have a look... Greg Hildebrandt
  21. I don't want to put up a pic because it is sexually graphic. I'm hoping to only show it to someone who is familiar with anime.
  22. At a comic store near where I live I purchased an anime cel. I'm trying to find out what it is from. Is anyone out there knowledgeable or know anyone who is knowledgeable on anime? LMK.
  23. It's all part of the process. My Paul Pope 50th anniversary Black Panther cover has some very subtle changes made to it when published. Mostly around the edges. You can see the changes here Black Panther. It doesn't really bother me. In this age of comic production we will be seeing this practice more and more. As long as the final product was directly taken from the original and the changes aren't too dramatic I'm alright with it.
  24. I've added a really great piece by Charles Vess that dates back to the 80's. C. Vess
  25. I haven't read it. What is your gallery? If we have similar interests I would like to see it.
