Funny one!!! Agree with all - super long, I made it for ~ 8 hours on and off and then proxy bid - overall, I feel the market is holding up rather well!

I was the underbidder on the ASM135 - Nice copy! -
The GS X-Men 1 page sounds like a potential Platinum Winner!

I am lucky, I am in driving range of Gordon Christman!

I agree - look a lot of veterans could win this thing if they can pull from their secret pile from 20 years ago - heck, I might have a piece or two myself but that is just not cricket!

I'm on the 'you should have acquired it in the contest year' side but also, agree it can only be the honor system...easy enough to say should have been acquired in the year - if people want to cheat then I am sad but not shocked.

The OFFICIAL "This week in your ORIGINAL ART collection?"

Don't post here very often but this pickup from California Art Con was an unexpected pleasure...I know the artist but interested in seeing if folks can identify who drew this one before I post to my CAF Enjoy! Mark -
Cool to see changes made!

The Best of 2023 submissions are open!!!!
mtlevy1 replied to Brian Peck's topic in Original Comic Art
So much easier to enter than years ago! My entries artists - Bolland, Edlund, Matania, McLusky (Bond), and Miller Mark Levy's Comic Art Gallery - Submitted for Best Of 2023 (comicartfans.com) -
I remember being at a prominent collector's home, decades ago, and gently asking him if he had other significant wealth given he had ~$1M of art lying around - it seemed a little irresponsible/risky to have so much art without other wealth - but he had a lot of art and not much else - believe it worked out fine given price trends on his focus. As others said, if you are fortunate enough to have your first $XM, I guess the rest can be art. In any case, I I am working to reduce my % art but it is tough as I love this stuff so much - but I have been selling at CAL to reduce my percentage. When interest rates are low on cash equivalents having a lot of art doesn't have such an obvious opportunity cost - but when you can get cash on your cash, it is a bit tougher to forego those earnings. Still looking for 1971 Smith/Everett Astonishing Tales 6 page 6 - 1977 Rogers/Austin Detective - and 1977 Nova 11 pages! Mark

Looks like most Mark Schultz Xenozoic Tales ever - and a lot of interesting stuff!

Yeah - and how do I feel, I acquired two from you in a 2009 trade and sold one in 2013 for $280 - argh - but happy to have kept the other!

Bronze age comics that are heating up on eBay...
mtlevy1 replied to PeterPark's topic in Bronze Age Comic Books
i used to have a ~ dozen copies but trimmed the collection down a few times - still have 3 raw and 1 graded so could be worse -
I still need Kazar Astonishing Tales 6 page 6 from 1971...also 1977 Nova 11 pages I'd like to sell/curate more art than I buy - I thought I might achieve that in 2023 but I bought too much! Merry Christmas!

Is Atticus full grown - how much does Atticus weigh - I have a smaller black cat as well...Nice pages!

Are prices still climbing or have they eased up a bit???
mtlevy1 replied to InfantTerrible's topic in Comics General
Not sure if this unpopular but I agree - when I look at the scans of these books, the majority look overgraded - heck when numbers are 9.6 and 9.8 I am not expecting to see obvious defects...I noted this with Don and Maggie collection to a lesser extent. -
