  1. 9.0 - 9.2. There's a color-breaking spine ding or crease near the bottom by the UPC box. The top right corner has some issues. Bottom staple is on the back of the book. It's not printed or cut or stapled squarely. The tear. CGC has graded so many of these of the years that they've gotten harsher with their grades on them over the years. Same as ASM #300. If you got higher than a 9.4, I'd be shocked.
  2. Here's a really timely and fun fact I learned just yesterday: Mike's Amazing World of Comics uses the dates that the Direct Editions went on sale, not the Newsstand edition's on-sale date. The Newsstand editions always went on sale after the Direct Edition did; usually 3-4 weeks after during the 80's, but there aren't records of Newsstand Edition on-sale dates past 1988. Well, I guess that was three facts. Just thought that info might be helpful since AVPs are Newsstand editions. (Also, Mike's specialty are DC comics.) Enjoy. -Eric
  3. I have no other reason to believe that they are his initials. I picked up this copy at a show a while back and realized a few years later that it had been written on. At first I thought it was just a scribble, but I took a really good look at it and saw that it was written intentionally and it looked like an "R" (or a "B" possibly) and an "A". So, I put two and two together and thought maybe he signed some fan's copy back in the day, a dealer got ahold of it and that it slipped by their eye when they sold it to me. The ink lines mix in so well with Spidey's webbing that it's quite hard to see. I thought there was maybe a 25-30% chance he initialed it, but I was always curious to find some examples and look for myself to know for sure. So I'm pretty sure now. -Eric
  4. Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is not his signature.... but anyway, here are pictures of: 1. The full cover, 2. A close-up of the "pen markings" (which are barely visible) on the cover 3. The same close-up outlined by me so as to make the "pen markings" (or scribble) easier to see. Any thoughts? Thanks. -Eric
  5. I'm glad I found this topic. Does anybody have an example of Ross Andru's signature? I have an Amazing Spider-Man #151 with a very large, but very faint, "R" and "A" written on the cover with a pen. Does anybody know if that is how he signed things? I know that getting comics autographed wasn't a big thing back in the day, but I've been looking for years and I can't find one example of his signature anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help or information. -Eric
  6. What is the largest comic size (length and width, not thickness) that is possible to be graded and slabbed? I have an Amazing Spider-Man Halloween Special (1993) that is the exact same size as a Comic Shop News. About 11 1/2" x 6 3/4". Is that a size that you can grade and slab. Thanks in advance. -Eric
  7. I just found this topic. I came across it accidently and I love it. Anyway, here you go.
  8. Dude, I miss it too. Like, a lot. I never thought that I could feel this upset over a website closing down. Also, I do not believe that the site will come back, at least not nearly anything like it was. It was bought by comicbook.com. Go and check out their database that they've had a link to for years. You can't because there isn't one and never was one. Also, that website is lousy with ads. Oh, and they are owned by CBS.
  9. I have no clue how to import a .csv file with over 6000 books into the GCD. I don't even know if you can keep track of a collection on that site. I have no idea how to add a book or anything.
  10. Seriously starting to get scared now. All the other sites and apps and whatever suck compared to the db. Nothing else is comparable.
  11. I have over 6,000 books logged in there - all with cover photos - and now it's just going into the garbage? I've spent days on that site logging in information and using it as a tool to keep my own collection in check. It was great for looking up creators and artists and it was just a wealth of information. So what do I do now? Seriously? -E
