  1. " This is a beautiful slice of comic history and it's likely there isn't another unknown GA pedigree collection of this quality left in the wild." ..hmm let's keep in mind that Tom Reilly's San Francisco collection remains scattered about..
  2. Don't misinterpret my comments as being critical of this entire collection its just that when were looking at what's being touted as the rival in regards to Church's collection of which many of these books will equal or surpass in grades, I'm thinking the grades are really going to be scrutinized.. ..but I will be throwing (perhaps in futility) much of my hard earned financial resources at a number of these books..and I wish everyone else bidding all the best..
  3. ..missed your query LDarkseid1 but aside from the page quality which appears to be browning, small stress at the staples, there's the dated ink stamp..
  4. ..other than the bit of a black color "bleed"? down from the D and E in Blonde and the slight corner nicks on the top and bottom right I can live with the grade although I would have liked to see "white pages" with the 9.8..still an awesome book as many in this collection are.. ..on the Punch 19 I'm a bit more critical on the assigned grade of 9.6, I note spine, corner as well as obvious staple wear, and I'm unsure if that's a crease running down into the top of the "P" or not and once again the "off white to white pages" I'm also noticing with many of the books the small portion of the page color running down the extreme right side appear to be browning not the off white to white
  5. ..appears we have "chewed a bit of the same dirt" my respect..
  6. ..hmm not mine "Jolly Comics and "Badger" you appear to be in a somewhat biased position in your defense of Jim..no one cares!! just look at the books..
  7. ..fair enough but many are looking for "trust" in what they perceive to represent a "leadership" in grading..once this is compromised it does become somewhat complicated..Oh for the days where trust in accurate grading was placed in sellers such as Hugh O'Kennon!! God Bless him and I do miss his little white catalogs..
  8. ..hmm so much diversity in regards to opinion's but that's what makes these forums great! I for one have been relatively silent but I'm retired now and able to spend more time in discussion with my passion for comics in my 50 years of collecting. I have to support many opinions of my colleagues in that after reading many of the posts I find a lot of these books to be over graded leading to the assumption that some then.. how many? 1 out of 10? 5 out of 10? less? more? for myself it does sow "seeds of doubt" and after looking at many of the high rez pics that HA has so kindly provided to all of us..I truly am in doubt in regards to many of these grades.. of course my opinion is subjective to criticism but all I ask is that prior to doing so have a look at the books..
  9. ..c'mon really, in all honesty the so reference to "conflict of interest" is certainly one to be given strong consideration too, but with all due respect did the majority of you supporting these over grades even bother to have a look? I really give a rats _ss of who's involved with whomever but really? Amazing Mysteries #33 9.4, Phantom Lady 13, 17, 23 ?, All American #61? the prementioned with white pages? see the borders? bring it!!
  10. ..aside from "proof" most will agree it's certainly a major concern in regards to a "conflict of interest"..
  11. After looking at many of the high res pic's that HA has up, I'm having to agree with you..
  12. ..my reference was to the margarine not the last name.."nuff said"
  13. ..Promise Margarine, good one but couldn't be further from the actual origin of the collection name..
  14. Heritage has the 20% buyers premium although they will work with you on the sellers fee. This buyers premium has always been a point of contention with other auction houses but as of late I've noticed Comic Connect beginning to charge a 17.5 % buyers premium on many of their books up on auction. Heritage also offers a great database, high res expandable photos as well as storing your purchases until you ask for them to be shipped out which can save a lot on shipping as I use FedEx overnight. Customer service is excellent and they consistently appear to get top dollar on GA..
