  1. So this year.... This year I want to concentrate on completing my Iron Fist set, the originals from the 70s, and my X-Men 144-300 set. The X-Men set is a lot of books, but the Iron Fist is only missing 9 books and I have two "scheduled for grading." So, I think these are attainable goals for the year. Wish me luck.... Happy collecting to all in 2015! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. So after only 54 calender days my modern submissions are.... 54 calender days and my two submissions of 30 books each have finally moved from received to verified. Here's hoping it takes less than 54 more to show shipped/safe. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  3. Lonestar Purchases I do not know if a private collector is selling off their books, or if Lonestar comics is submitting them, but I have been winning some really nice signature series books the last few months. I have added several 9.8 and 9.6 signature series books to my New Mutants collection and Copper age X-Men. Most signed by Silvestri and Claremont in the X-Men run. A few signed by Jim Lee. The new Mutants are signed by Claremont and Sienkiewicz. I don't know who's selling them, but I am a buying them. They are adding a lot of points to my registry sets. I hope they keep auctioning more. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. Thinning the herd, culling the collection, consolidating?!? I have recently begun the harrowing process of trying to redefine my collecting goals. I have gotten rid of several sets, sold off many modern books, and am currently working on refocusing my collection on the mutant books that made me fall in love with collecting to begin with. I want to refocus on the X-Men and related appearances, I.E... the missing years collection. I am still going to be collecting Iron Fist, Werewolf by Night, and Tomb of Dracula. Hopefully this will lead to a nicer overall run of books that are thematically similar. Additionally, I will have an easier time completing the sets I am working on. Wish me luck on this one. 5. Finally back home and the collection is a changin! So I have been back in the states since mid July. I finally picked up all my books from storage and I have been getting rid of duplicate books. I have lost 20000 points or so, but I am expanding my collection of bronze age marvel books. Lately I have been buying a lot of bronze age marvel horror books. Tomb of Dracula, Werewolf by Night, etc.. I have always been a big fan of Marvels Mutant books but I am trying to broaden my horizons. It is nice to be back in the states where the shipping is cheaper and there are two local comic shops in town. My son is ten years old now and among all his other interests he is really getting into collecting comics instead of just reading them until they fall apart. It is going to be an interesting year watching his collection grow and seeing what he enjoys. I hope everyone out there has a great new year and an ever expanding collection. 6. Well, it was only a few months ago that I was excited about breaking the 50,000 point barrier..... Well, it was only a few months ago that I was excited about breaking the 50,000 point barrier. With a few months of purchases under my belt and an amazing 30,000 point bump from the readjusted X-Men scores, I now find myself sitting at 96,000 registry points. Soon I will be breaking the 100,000 point threshhold. Lately I have picked up some nice Savannah pedigree copies of early X-Men and upgraded some of my Bronze books. I am having great fun hunting down nice copies. Thanks for reading.
  7. Finally broke 50,000 points. After over 7 years as a member of this here club, I finally broke the 50,000 point threshhold. It has been a long time coming and I cannot wait to see the next 50,000. Thanks for looking. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  8. I appreciate the help people. Thanks for the help with the new registry set requests.
  9. Does anyone know how to request new sets be added to the registry? I find myself sitting on some nice books I would like to register in sets on the registry, but there are no sets defined for these books. I am just wondering if anyone out there is aware of the process for requesting a new set be added, and if so, what is the process. If anyone can help, please message me. Thanks, E.C. Holcomb
