  1. Oooo, I think he's gonna be good.
  2. Yay. With the recent article posted by Define999 in General, I will be showcasing my foreign editions for all to see. This will take a while...
  3. This is my third journal, and this will be my main one that I will constantly update. I've started two other threads already, but I thought (following Dover's example) that I'd like to keep everything in one spot for all to see. In this thread, I'll post my new and old comic purchases, thoughts on the comic industry, and just generally anything that comes to find on pop culture and life in general. Hope this is as interesting for you all to read as it is for me to write. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. My foreign comic collection. For those of you that don't know, my current collecting focus is foreign comics/reprints. Not characters that originated from their respective countries, such as Asterix from France or Captain Britain from the UK. No, I collect American comics reprinted in different languages/countries. I don't know why I find these so fascinating, but it's just really cool to be able to gather them all and just look at them. All those different countries, assembled in one group. Another advantage to having these is you can really learn a lot about the languages. So far I have examples from the UK, Mexico, France, French Canada and Italy. I am already quite fluent in the French language, and obviously in English as well (English being my first language, and I started learning French when I was about 6). It's gotten to the point where I can easily recognize a language when I read it. This is true for Russian, German, Dutch, Italian, Spanish and several other languages. Anyways, enough talking. I will post pictures by country in my next post. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  5. My first submission at ECCC 2011. Well, the ECCC 2011 is over. A lot happened at that show. First of all, I submitted my first ever CGC submission. This included 5 Signature Series, and one Universal which I submitted a bit later in the show. The comics I submitted were: 1. Archie's Love Showdown Special #1 (Dan Parent SS) Est. 9.6 2. Archie Meets the Punisher #1 (Batton Lash SS) Est. 9.4 3. Punisher Meets Archie #1 (Batton Lash SS) - Est 9.4 4. Daredevil #47 (Mexican Edition, Brubaker SS) - Est 9.6 5. Amazing Spider-Man #49 (Paquette SS) Est. 9.6 6. Bartman #1 - Est 9.6-9.8 I found the Love Showdown on eBay. You really don't see these very often. It came in a surprisingly nice 9.6 condition. The Bartman, I found in a 50% off bin at the convention. It is a beautiful copy, with only the slightest of page raising on the bottom right corner. I asked the attendant of the CGC booth, and he told me it shouldn't really detract a heck of a lot from the grade. So, I subbed it. I will write again once I have them in my hands. I can't wait!
