Most 80’s comics had mass produced glasses that came with the book and not attached with the book. Sheena had non attached glasses so they wouldn’t need to go into CGC with the book to be graded. Ones with attached glasses usually get a premium and if loose can knock it down 30-50 percent.

My 4/10 value batch went into grading on Monday, so you should be up any day.
Thanks for the positive comment-- I'm not gonna lie-- going over four months to wait for your books is kind of insane.

You have a book that looks 8.5 sans stain but my experience with CGC and stains tells me 5.5 sadly. They just kill silver books with stains.
Thanks for your thoughts on the book-- I suspected that was the ballpark-- I was hoping for a 6.5'ish but I like to lie to myself...lol

I have a CGC'd 8.0 that looks more banged up than that book-- Nice score!

I posted another book with a stain so I thought since I have no idea how to grade anything with a stain (or water damage) I'd pass this along to you smart fella's and gals. There is a pretty significant water stain on the back cover as you can see... I purchased this off a local Vancouver dealer/collector who was very up front about the stain and priced it accordingly. Thoughts?

Hey guys-- I've had this book for some time and bought it for next to nothing back when no one really cared about old Subby, well everyone seems to care now so I was thinking about slabbing it. It's a decent copy except for a stain at the bottom left edge of the cover which wraps around to bottom right on the beck. Water marks or stains in general are not something I am very good with when it comes to grading as thoughts on the subject vary wildly. Could you help a brother out?

Been scheduled for grading since 4/16... It's gonna be a long summer. Dang Value tier!

To add to the information posted by bronzejunkie earlier, I’m posting lots of pictures from Larry Kenton’s first edition of his Monsters Price Guide that he published in 1974. I just received my copy from Larry himself today. He has an eBay listing up right now with copies from a recently found case in new condition. $30 plus shipping of $7 if anyone is interested. He will also autograph it for you if you like that sort of thing
Now this is just awesome! Thanks for posting it!

Just got home-- Thought I'd throw up these price guide pages from a million years ago-- Thats right, 1975! Now sit back and enjoy a trip back in time. (Try not to cry too!)
Kinda surprised how high the Eerie#1 was going for back then. Now I get why they bootlegged the out of it.

I adore the Godzilla run from the 70's. That was my first initiation into loving comics and as a kid and I put together runs of this and GIJoe (They we're my first bagged and boarded issues) But sadly none of them would grade over a 6 now as I read the living hell out of them... Now-- I'm getting close to getting a new GIJoe in 9.8 from 1-30 run together but haven't paid enough attention to the Godzillas. Thanks for showing this. Inspiring! Good luck on the next run!

I’ve purchased a number of mid grades to high grades of this book in the past year and this would fall in the 6.0 at best range for me. It’s funny this is the book people seem to punish grades on all the time, I can’t tell you how many sellers have tried to give me 5.5’s and 6.5’s and tried to pass them off as 8.5-9.0’s. I’m now only buying this book CGC’s if I was to buy more.
-
I’ve bought a couple books from them and found they take forever to ship and their grading is usually extremely soft. Listing books at VF+ that would lucky to be a fine on a good day. I won’t be buying from them again.

I don’t know much about Fangoria issues. What makes issues 9 and 10 so great? Also, that price guide with the Wrightson art is awesome! I’m gonna have to look out for that one.
Back in the 80's Fangoria got pretty popular especially the late part of the decade (The whole Freddy craze was a big part of it) and they sold back issues in an ad in every new issue. Issues 9 and 10 we're the two that sold out first from the companies own backstock. Another company that placed very cool AD's in the books back then was Fantaco Enterprises (out of Albany) selling horror memorabilia and old mags and comics, they priced the back issues of Fangoria at collector prices and issue 9 at one point (for I think an issue or two at the peek went as high as $350 and issue 10 went for I think $125 at its ultimate peak) in retrospect they really weren't that rare at all compared to the other issues around it just that the Starlog press didn't have any copies themselves anymore. Oddly the entire horror magazine collecting crowd used the fantaco ad as their personal price guide and I think thats why it went up so high.
Now issue 10 isn't even remotely rare since ebay came up and issue 9 is a little bit rarer but you can certainly find one in at least VF shape on the bay with a quick search. Finding them in above 9.4 (which is my goal) is the real challenge as they were printed on horrible paper stock and the printing created lots of dinged corners from dull printing blades etc. Saying that there is a 9.8 sitting on ebay at the moment from Doug Sulipa but its in my mind horrifically overpriced, with patience you should be able to find a raw 9.8 on your own out in the wild and if your lucky you could find it for anywhere from $10 to $90(max) depending if the dealer knows the value or even cares, so good luck if your looking. There is a rather large group collecting them now regaining their childhood but it isn't very ruthless so prices aren't insane for pretty much any issue.
The issues we're are hard to find for me are issues 15 and 22 and Bloody Best Of Fangoria 1-4(especially 1) in true 9.4 and higher (black covers), honestly I think they each ultimately cost me $20 each but lucking upon high grade copies was the challenge. Great way to collect, challenging but still cheap. It's rather fun run to put together and one filled with incredible nostalgia for me and if anyone out there in CGC Boards land has any nice high grade Fangoria's before issue 100 (or the last few issues 340-344) I'd love to hear about them (PM me if you could)

When did NM 87 start tanking in price?

NM 87 has doubled in price in the past 3 months. I feel its a severly undervalued copper marvel key.
