This will not be the same Vampi we all know. There is no way in hell today’s woke culture will ever accept the source material or character portrayal, especially that costume. in any case, it’s certainly better than that B movie attempt they made a few years ago. That was God awful.

Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE on HBO Max (3/18/21)
Brian48 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Done. Was long, but it went very quickly for me. I'm thinking they probably should have just broke the movie up into 4 episodes so it would be easier for some folks to watch. It's easy enough to just binge through them if one is so inclined. The way the chapters were broke up, it would have been so easy to do so. Anyway, this is the best DC movie I've seen in a while. Definitely the most refined in my opinion. Part of me thinks all the delays and turmoil with this film actually helped Snyder as it bought a lot of time to get his final vision polished.- 2,338 replies

Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE on HBO Max (3/18/21)
Brian48 replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Well, I really like this movie. Almost finished with part 5. Might as well finish it off tonight. I am absolutely astounded at the amount of footage shot that we never saw. Darkseid was great. We need more.- 2,338 replies

Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE on HBO Max (3/18/21)

3 quarters of the way through right now. Have to say, I'm impressed. Thought the hype was too tainted by fanboy fervor, but this is actually a very well executed movie. May save the last part until tomorrow, but I've seen enough to want to buy the Blu-ray when it comes out.- 2,338 replies

Remember when you could buy these from a mag?

Take it back. Found another one with a date stamp. Really awful one in my opinion as it's smudged, but I guess that doesn't go against the grade.

I don't really care for date stamps. I think this is the only book I have that has one.

Are we too picky? (AKA, Conan 2011 was pretty good on a re-watch)
Brian48 replied to Westy Steve's topic in The Movie Forum
FYI, if they really wanted to do a good Conan movie, they should adapt RED NAILS. It'll never happen of course. It would require a hard R at the minimum to do it justice as well as dripping with enough, sex, violence, and "toxic masculinity" that the heads of all snowflakes would explode. -

Brian48 replied to Westy Steve's topic in The Movie Forum
I thought it was OK, but there was some really silly parts to it. Would have liked it better if they 1) took out the origin story (absolutely unnecessary), 2) stop putting so much emphasis on a McGuffin (daddy's sword - Conan must have used a million different weapons in his lifetime - HE DIDN'T CARE.), 3) no sidekicks, 4) and no romance with a shallow princess/maiden that needed to rescued left and right. -
I don't. Maybe that's why I have no desire to collect any more. Tucked away safe from prying eyes. Including my own.

What movie based "key" are you most annoyed by?
Brian48 replied to serling1978's topic in Comics General
New Gods 7. I was in the midst of finishing up my high grade Kirby run when prices went crazy. Gave up chasing it after that and just bought the omnibus. -
Is Batman 227 the next Incredible Hulk 181?

Time to resurrect the old Bats 227 thread! Is Batman 227 the "key" Neal Adams Batman book to have? - Bronze Age Comic Books - CGC Comic Book Collectors Chat Boards (cgccomics.com) -
Not exactly sure when it was released, but I remember it was towards the days when Smith was starting to leave comics. I posted about my purchase way back in this thread with some added pics. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/109091-conan-comics/page/40/#comments

Marvel Magazines, which ones are collectible and/or hard to find?
Brian48 replied to piper's topic in Comic Magazines
I'm still waiting for Marvel to retcon or reintroduce War Toy into the Marvel Universe or MCU, especially the MCU. Unknown Worlds of Sci Fi #2, which is gloriously undervalued right now, would absolutely take off. -
Another vote for presentation, especially if the grade difference is so small. Heck, I'd bet if you resubmitted both books again, there's a chance the 9.0 can get a bump and the 9.2 might get a downgrade. White pages are great if you can get them, but OW/W is not far behind so I don't consider that a factor. I might reconsider if it was W vs OW, or worse. In any case, both books will age over time anyway unless you treat it chemically. Here's an example where I went from a 9.0 OW to an 8.5 W and couldn't be happier. Not just because of presentation, but rather the back of the 9.0 looked a lot worse than OW. In fact, the book looked brown while the 8.5 looked vibrant.

Some beautiful covers. I have a copy of Bats 235. One of my favorites. Although I don’t collect any more, I may still upgrade my copy if an opportunity presents itself.

Are you happy with the focus of your collection?
Brian48 replied to Monstro's topic in Comics General
I would say I'm extremely happy with how discipline I've become in keeping my collection small and focused. In fact, I've only bought a handful of misc books in the last 4 years and only when they were so cheap, I couldn't say No. I'm at the point where I can probably say I don't really collect comics any more. I finished my Adams Bats, Smith Conan, Miller DD runs, and now I'm pretty satisfied just enjoying what I have. Toyed with the idea of chasing the Kirby 4th World books, but decided I was plenty happy with the Omnibus. -
I think it's fine although a bit unsightly. If it bothers you, just get it re-slabbed for the peace of mind and be done with it. That said, I don't think it's enough to be considered a defect that CGC would re-slab it for you at no cost.

I'd go CL unless you have some seriously high value books that need that the type of exposure and marketing that Heritage can provide (at a higher cost, of course).
