Hi, I followed your instructions and called Accounting. I explained my card was charged twice but I only have one invoice, and that I have a question about the shipping charges. After the gentleman in accounting found the second invoice I had not received, and confirmed I'd been charged $240 USD for shipping, he felt my other questions were best suited for customer service (I agreed), and transferred me. I asked the customer service agent about the packing and shipping policies as pertaining to my order. She assured me that my 9 slabs and 40 raws (pictured below divided into the 2 small boxed shipments, not the regular sized 25 slab box), were shipped according to CGC policy and pricing. I asked why I was quoted $90 USD for shipping and then charged $240 for shipping. She stated definitively ( I had her repeat it for clarification) that only 25 books could be put in a box, regardless of how many are slabbed and how many are raw. Furthermore, she stated (again twice when asked for confirmation) that I had been charged the "old rate of $120" for shipping as I had submitted the order in May. I replied that my last order of 25 slabs arrived in one large box with a shipping charge of 90 USD, and that was the old rate, not $120. She assured me she was correct and I'd been charged correctly, and that any box shipped from CGC, regardless of size or weight, was $120 at the old rate, and $180 (maybe$160 can't remember for sure) at current rates. I then again had her confirm the statement that neither size nor weight have anything to do with shipping. I disagreed on the charges being correct, but did not bother addressing the size/weight/box matter as a policy is a policy, regardless of its validity. I then thanked her, as she seemed firm in her convictions and hung up. After hanging up I checked the FAQ page and included a screenshot below, along with photos of both $120 dollar half-sized unfilled boxes. I've also attached my confirmation email and packing slip, both clearly stating a $90 dollar shipping charge. I'm simply hoping someone can help me understand the numerous discrepancies in this situation, to help me determine if I've been charged correctly. Thank you.

Hi all, I'm hoping to get some clarification on the charges for pre-screen process, graded/not graded books, and shipping. Can you tell me what the total amount shoud be for a submission of 49 books to modern tier at a 9.8 pre-screen, and only 9 of them ended up graded? I have the $149 membership. Thanks for your help!

Very interested in this topic. Thanks for the helpful info thus far. I've switched from photos to high res scans of both sides of book, out of bag. My specific questions: 1. I truly am not a pro grader but want to give my customers as honest and clear a picture as possible. I feel the whole disclaimer of not being a pro grader now detracts from my listings, even though it's the truth! Should I leave this in or remove it from my listings? 2. Numerical grading or Letter Grading? The most common grade I see on Ebay is NM. As this can conceivably mean 9.2, 9.4, 9.6 I see this as a double edged sword. Being an amateur, I am likely to only be within a 9.2 to 9.6 (4-point) range anyway (if I'm lucky). 3. To grade or not to grade?I've only ever had 2 books returned out of a few hundred. One was a legitimate return - my scans truly did not show a wavy defect, however I did NOT grade this book in the listing as it was shortly after FIRST return in which the buyer said the book was not the grade I'd given in the listing. Being naïve I asked for photos from the buyer to show the differences from mine. However, Ebay did not support the request and did not request ANYTHING from the buyer other than his word. I'm sure you've all experienced some version of this situation if you are an ebayer, but it leaves me confused as to the best approach. 4. I truly love comics and truly want to provide the best buyer experience possible, so can any of you describe an IDEAL listing or provide an example? I'd be grateful!

Another vote for this clown, cyclocross13, reports items not as described, when I ask for proof/pics I get no response other than case opened.

Any advice on whether or not to grade them? I also have 2 and 4 but 3 was not there.

Yeah when I found them I was sure there was something about them but I wasn't sure what. Also, full disclosure, the magazines were in the toonie bin.

Let's clue this up. I was looking for accountability. Not in a monetary sense, but in a gesture of any sort, which in this case took the form of a phone call from Brittany and some sincere words. CGC provided that, and to be fair, I think Bob just showed a bit of that in the above post, so kudos to both. I love comics. For one reason or another, I haven't been able to pursue this hobby for a while now. I can now, and I hope to continue this journey with all of you. So thanks to CGC and everybody on this thread, for this memorable introduction to grading and its baggage. Despite the BS, I'm glad to be here, and hope to contribute/help at some point. After all, this is still supposed to be fun right?

Try reading the post and its title again. It was a factual retelling of events and a question posed to forum members as to "whether or not this is a standard CGC experience?" When CGC contacted me she thanked me specifically for not posting a rant/complaint, but rather specific details that allowed her to effectively address the situation. (I haven't even brought up the rings on one of my slabs because that complaint is well-covered on here) As for "directly to the company"? I was contacted immediately by CGC after the post, never after the calls. I certainly was not expecting that, and I wouldn't even have answered the Florida area code if it hadn't resolved to an actual person's name. "I don't go on the internet to give bad reviews." 1. Wasn't a review 2. Internet? Hard to argue it's the internet but it's also a CGC forum, with CGC moderators and representatives, found at, wait for it........https://www.cgccomics.com/boards. Somewhat targeted... On a sincere note, I was hoping everything I'd heard over the years about these boards wasn't true, but even with warning, it's a pretty toxic environment.
