  1. Hi: I see no reason to press. I once invested a hot press with almost super-human powers, but have learned that in a surprising number of cases there can be very little up-side, and definite potential for harm. The whole hobby is getting so expensive these days; if forced to choose between the advice of Artboy99 and Krishoseign above (assuming the latter is being serious), I would take Artboy99's. Here's my view: collecting is all about enjoyment, at least for me. If you enjoy slabbing as some do, then slab away. What I might caution you against, however, is adopting as your unconscious mantra "press and slab," as if the pressing and slabbing logically amounted to one choice, or a "single service." The matter can be confusing, especially when the party doing the grading is the same that offering to press. In my view, an ethical lapse unsurprising from CGC, especially when it was a monopoly. But two different services are involved, and I'd try to bear that in mind, so you can choose wisely on the question. Unless you have unlimited funds and the very idea of pressing somehow brings you joy, I would press only as necessary. And do my best to learn what that means. Enjoy yourself!!
  2. Wow! Those are some choice books! Congrats, and best of luck with your auction--
  3. Hi: I'd put my money on 3.0 to 3.5, depending on what grader had for lunch.
  4. Doc, ordinarily I'd agree 100%. But I'd say, "not worth the coin" unless you plan to definitely sell. For reasons that I've got to admit baffle me, it seems like almost any strong keyin 1-2,2.5 does MUCH better in a slab than its "birthday suit. I guess the mess is contained, and they needn't be troubled with restoration. I don't know if that assumption bears out with this particular book, price wise, but with even a little research you can find out. Best of luck--
  5. My "gut" said 9.0, but the comments between the book and this comment have left me, maybe 8.0
  6. Hey, JJF, it is an absolutely magnificent comic. I'd give it 7.5, but don't I remember some scuttlebut going around as to the upper limit a comic with piece(s) out of a cover due to chipping was 6.0? I could easily be wrong about that...
