Thank you so much Catwoman_Fan. I loved being on Felix's show so much and considering it was what really got me to up my OA collecting game it meant the world to me. With Aparo pages I know that purchase will both hurt and be super rewarding. I have my true grail Aparo page (from Batman #442), but I would love really any page that had Batman on it. If it had Batman unmasked I would really love it. When I was young and foolish I knew they were out there and very affordable even by yesterday's standards. I wrote his former rep to see if there was anything else out there and he said what the family had they were not parting with. I even heard Back Issue was going to do a retrospective special on him as well but again there were issues with the estate. Hopefully that will be resolved I would even settle for an Aparo Artist Edition...even an Artifact Edition would do. Panelfan1- Thank you for the kind words regarding my father. Definitely check out God Country. It is well worth your time. Wonderfully written by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw's art is gorgeous.
2018 Original Art Collecting Goals -Figure out what my collection is. 2017 was a major year as I built my collection up with a lot of strong pieces now I just need to figure out what my collection is and what I want it to be. -A Batman page by Jim Aparo. My definitive Batman artist and one that I would one day love to acquire a page from particularly from Batman 442 through the rest of Aparo's Bat-run. -I discovered God Country too late. It was a story that profoundly spoke to me as I lost my father last month. While all the original pages are gone I would love a God Country Commission from Geoff Shaw. -Return to the Felix Comic Art Podcast. I had so much fun being a part of the November episode and I would love to return and this time have our conversation be in person. -Continue to make friends in the hobby. I love collecting original art. Here is to a great 2018.
Thank you so much for having this discussion. This is my first post on the CGC Boards. Hi Everybody. Despite collecting OA for years I am still a rookie when it comes to collecting. One thing that has been confusing to me is the distinction between Original Art inks and pencils. Of course I would prefer to own inks over pencil but that is becoming harder and harder particularly with more and more artists drawing digitally. I have a Superman page by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, I bought off of Prado at C2E2. He told me Ivan is drawing digitally now but he (Prado) is inking the blueline print out. In this case would the inks be the original art since it's published and there are no physical pencils. Sorry if these are already figured out I am still learning my way around the hobby.
