  1. I went. It was good. For me, it was awesome because Ryan Ottley never comes to Florida cons and Rob Guillory was there. That's more Image guys than the Tampa Con has had. More Image people please. Did Stegman cancel? I didn't see him.
  2. This sucks. His explanation, of course, makes sense, but I can't believe he'd end it. I was hoping this would continue on forever as he has said, as his labor of love. There has to be other artists willing to work on it, so in the end, this is Kirkman ending it because he isn't making money on it. My monthly pull used to be full of capes, image and vertigo. Today, it's only Invincible, Saga and Twd and the only reason I still get any singles is Invincible. After it ends, I'm done with buying any monthlies. Spiderman has always been my favorite character until the Invincible universe came along. I've always explained Invincible as Spidey done right. There's still so much story to tell and so many hanging plots..... I love TWD, but story-wise, that is the title that should logically end before Invincible. Not money-wise though. Kirkman has been my favorite creator since he came around. Ultimate x-men, Ant-Man, marvel team-up, were all books that spoke to me even though he didn't create them. Destroyer and mutant 2009 were amazing. But none of those could top his creator owned stuff. I'm extremely disappointed in him for ending his best creator owned super hero world. I honestly had to stop and make sure today wasn't April 1. Wow. Super bummed. One more reason (a really big one) for me to stop comics altogether, follow Saga in hardcovers and consolidate the mess out of my collection. Dramatic? Yeah, but this is the only book that always kept me into comics when no others could. Love Kirkman, abhor this decision.
  3. Yeah, it did. The art looked a bit different. I don't know if it was the inks or colors, but some of the panels looked Larsen-y.
  4. The Noble Causes book is a one panel cameo within the context of the story. Was the preview in that book too? I can't recall.
  5. Looks like only one has sold recently for $600. They've been going between $500-$600 for a while now. It's a book that people aren't willing to let go unless it's big bucks. I'm not too sure of the keys story-wise. I still need to figure that out one day, but if I was starting a new collection, the issues I would want are 1, 7, 11, 12, 14 (cover), 25, 33, 44, 45, 50, 60-64. The variants for 50 and 52 are pretty tough to find. This is pretty much the modern day spider-man, so it will take a bit more time and story to determine what the real keys are, but I'm pretty confident that will indeed happen at some point in the future and certain issues will rise in price moreso than others.
  6. So what did you think about I Kill Giants? I can't think of anything else on that level. The Essex County Trilogy was emotionally stimulating for me as well, but only when read as a whole.
  7. Turd Man Comics is all about the speculation on variants which may or may not float for a while. I buy from Dingleberry Man Comics because he tells me which storylines have been hanging strong. I'm not reading it, but what I've tried from this new Marvel stuff has been good. It's wise for them to spread out. America is a big melting pot so why shouldn't comics reflect that? The crotchety people who complain are old timers who hate any kind of change. The times pass them by as they complain about how things were soooo much better, be it comics, neighborhoods, porn mags or whatever. Just ignore them, rub their heads as you walk by them so they feel they still have some relevance.
  8. I've been a DCBS fan, but that does seem petty. Limiting incentive or limited variants is fine, but giving flack for quantity ordered is kind of a joke. Why not just put an order limit. Yeah and i also received an answer for that Hi, Our FAQ on the site states that we are not permitted to sell to retailers, but if a customer is not eligible to open a Diamond account, we can sell to resellers, but those accounts are not eligible for flat rate shipping. I have copied that below for your reference. We do not limit quantities for this reason. Well, that seems fair. They aren't limiting orders unless they don't get enough of a product for availability, but you have to pay shipping when you order 100x or whatever of a comic. Makes sense. Why should they eat the shipping costs that they are no doubt incurring for someone who orders significant multiples of a comic? I used them for several years in the past mainly for my regular sub books. On the rare occasion that I ordered multiples (like twice ordering 50 copies of books), I wondered how they didn't ding me for shipping.
  9. That's likely a good plan. It's a book that has been on a slow, steady rise but can still be found at a more reasonable price with patience. Personally, I bought my slabbed 9.8 a few years ago and was willing to pay over the average (the average I noticed, no clue on gpa) for a clean copy without any hint of a bindery tear or ncb spine ticks. I have a few raw copies, one of which is an easy 9.8, but wanted a slab too. While I'm always considering selling off my TWDs, Chews, etc., the Invincibles are books that will be passed on to my son along with the ASM collection and a few other books like Saga. I'm sure there are others with my same line of thinking explaining the steady rise on the book. So although you can get a better deal with patience, I'd think it's better to buy a copy sooner rather than 10 years down the line. I was waiting it out for a bit, but the prices kept creeping up. Glad I bought it though because now, I'd be paying no less than an extra hundred for it today and likely more like an extra $200.
  10. I Kill Giants Pride of Baghdad Scalped PROOF Aside from Saga, Invincible, TWD and Y the Last Man, these are all series I'll re-read often as they have some emotional impact on me.
  11. Heroes: Mark Allen Rexsplode Monster girl Space racer Villains: Robot The mauler twins Conquest Dinosaurus The sequids Regular peeps: Art William Debbie Amber Principal winslow
  12. Isn't there a site somewhere that lists and shows all the characters from the book?
  13. If you want a steady paycheck, you work for the big 2. If you are creative enough and want to invest in your own ideas, you take those ideas to Image and leave the retreading for your big 2 work.
  14. Considering that there was news of a show before the issue released, and it's a Kirkman #1, I can't imagine that the print run isn't huge due to people speculating when placing orders. (Didn't the '90s teach us anything?) Even if the show is decent, I can't see #1 being a particularly pricey book long-term. (Subsequent issues, which will have a much lower print run, might be a different story.) And if the show doesn't take off, there are going to be a lot of people with a lot of copies. Completely agree. But then again, I thought the same thing about Saga. If these guys keep bringing in marvel and dc readers as well as a ton of readers from the outside who read in trades and HCs, the first issues in particular could stay in demand. There's a difference between now and the 90s.... The stories are good and targeted at more than kids and man children looking for bewbs drawn hugely.
  15. I think there are some regulars here who discuss and love the book... Just saying... +1 I've mentioned my annual re-reading of Invincible a few times… I usually do an annual re-read whenever I get the new hardcover. Best comic book ever!!!!
  16. I liked it. The writing had more of an Invincible feel than most of the other invinciverse series. Hard to tell from a first issue though.
  17. Anyone know when / where we can order the blanks or did I miss it?
  18. Can anyone speak to the quality of stock that was used on the Walking Dead blanks? I've been waiting for an Invincible blank so I'd love to load up, but if the blank is crappy like the Image United blanks, I'll have to rethink it.
  19. Are you sure? My Lcs didn't pull it, didn't have any copies and neither did another shop.
  20. Issue 3 was good. I liked it. The art is getting better quickly.
  21. Whats the condition and what did you give up? Condition is most likely a 9.2-9.6 (depending on how the grader is feeling). Traded an extra Saga #1 slabbed 9.8, and also got back a F/VF ASM #54. Probably not a great deal, but considering I paid 4 bucks (plus slab fees) for the Saga, it works for me. No, that's a great deal. I'd do that in a heartbeat. You traded an awesome book in saga 1 but that book outnumbers Invincible print wise 4 to 1 and you got a nice ASM. Good trade. I'd probably do it just for the saga straight up (and I already have a few copies of Invincible 1).
