ASM 238 Appreciation/Club Thread
pmpknface replied to Paddy_McShillihan's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
I thought I had posted this one, but I guess not! I'm still shopping around for a #287, and the #281 is proving a tad difficult (I'm sure 12 copies will pop up at once at some point though) but here's the last Hobgoblin cover I needed below #300! Not the best cover, but Spidey hitching a ride on Hobby's back is pretty cool! Nice squared up copy too. -

1 new one to add to the Hobgoblin run. Upon getting this one I really had to go through my registry set. I had prepared for the first 100 or so appearances, but with books this recent I really had to go back and re-order the appearances over the last decade. Not that I have them all (YET!) but I've got a list so when I get one I have a slot prepared. Anyway, here's Miles Morales SS v2 #16: -
Hello all. Yes, I know the "bug" is still being worked on but I found a temporary hack last night. Like most of you (I assume) I'd go to add a competitive set here and get that error: Instead, go here and find the set you want to create. In this case I wanted to make a Darkhawk set so I went here and chose D: Then I just found Darkhawk and it got me here. Then clicked on the "Create a Set button" and it worked! You can add in new books or it can auto populate in this set takes books from other sets. It's all good!!! There is 1 downside though. You can't name your set or add a description to it. I tried to save these aspects a few times but no dice. However you can add books and worry about the set names later. They'll end up looking like this: So there ya go! Hope this helps! I'll @jstam just to make sure he gets this and can notify the developers.

I posted this one in the new in my collection thread, but not here. I didn't even realize it was a NS copy until it arrived. As @Qalyar pointed out to me, with the UPC on the back it may not be found in many collections if copies are in B&B's. Plus it's likely not that big of an ordered book, as it's mainly a recap book meant to feed into the clone craziness, so kinda rare. Likely not a big $ book, but it's cool! Love the wrap cover too!

Thanks! I really couldn't care about the NS aspect, I'm just happy to get any copy. The NS is a fun aspect, and I didn't think about the UPC on the back thing! Good pickup. -

Hold one second... that one TTLR #13 only has 1.75%. This one, Confessions #11 has 7.02%. That should change this a bit, right? -

In addition to those MCS pickups, I added in these 2. Totally random, but I was reminded while diving in my boxes that I missed these 2 when they came out. Pull lists weren't perfect back in the day. The Kraven book was so popular that it went from a 7-issue series to a 6. Can't have a high print run. The Redemption book was part of the clone madness, of course. -

Rolling on with the Hobgoblin collection! Picked up a new one that wasn't even on my radar, Spider-Man: The Parker Years. This one only has 16 in 9.8 and 22 on the census. Looks good in the slab with the wrap cover too. It's mainly a flashback book that was during the clone madness, but my man is front and center on the cover so it was an easy call. I didn't even realize it was a NS copy until it arrived. -
Thanks! Glad it's approved, because I've got a new one! 1st Hydro-Man:

Thanks for the great Spidey slabs! Smooth and easy! Recommended!

Sweet new book in today! PPSSM #90 with an awesome Black Cat cover and Spidey all over the place. 9.8 WP (of course) and signed by Al Milgrom! 1st black costume in this title too. -

What's New In Your Copper Age Collection This Week?
pmpknface replied to Jasonmorris1000000's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Ok, we've got a new one! While not one of my favorite covers it is kinda cool. Spidey riding the back of Hobgoblin is pretty awesome! Also - and more importantly - this is the last Hobgoblin cover I needed in 9.8 below his "death" in #289. He did make a noted appearance in a few other issues (working on them) but this was the last "original" cover I needed in this title. I've got a #312 so from there I've go up to after his "resurrection" and get the newer ones. So here we go, ASM #286: -

This is the coolest thing I'll hear all week. -
Just going over the covers... this one: How jealous is she? I mean, she's hiding in the bushes like groundskeeper Willie! She's a 1/2 step away from being Carl from Caddyshack! And these 2 are in the grass and draped in tree cover. Are the making out or playing hide and go seek? I mean, can't they just go dancing and have martinis like everyone else?

I thought maybe we'd get 2 more, vote for best 3 of 10 and then another to finish it all off - but it's not my poll. Also - Thanks again for doing this @adamstrange! Now, let's continue to criticize everything that's wrong.
-
Ok.. 1 other opinion.... this one: Is a fantastic cover. You get 4 babes for the price of 1! But is it really a romance cover? It's more of a teen/humor book. The issue after it had a friggin' gorilla on it! Eventually it goes full romance, but whereas this is a great cover I couldn't vote for it as I don't consider it a real romance cover.

I love this one and it got my vote. The perspective, the MOON, the MANDALS! I love the TTLR run, but how some of them got in over this one I dunno.
