I thought I had posted this one, but I guess not! I'm still shopping around for a #287, and the #281 is proving a tad difficult (I'm sure 12 copies will pop up at once at some point though) but here's the last Hobgoblin cover I needed below #300! Not the best cover, but Spidey hitching a ride on Hobby's back is pretty cool! Nice squared up copy too.

1 new one to add to the Hobgoblin run. Upon getting this one I really had to go through my registry set. I had prepared for the first 100 or so appearances, but with books this recent I really had to go back and re-order the appearances over the last decade. Not that I have them all (YET!) but I've got a list so when I get one I have a slot prepared. Anyway, here's Miles Morales SS v2 #16:

Hello all. Yes, I know the "bug" is still being worked on but I found a temporary hack last night.
Like most of you (I assume) I'd go to add a competitive set here and get that error:
Instead, go here and find the set you want to create. In this case I wanted to make a Darkhawk set so I went here and chose D:
Then I just found Darkhawk and it got me here. Then clicked on the "Create a Set button" and it worked!
You can add in new books or it can auto populate in this set takes books from other sets. It's all good!!!
There is 1 downside though. You can't name your set or add a description to it. I tried to save these aspects a few times but no dice. However you can add books and worry about the set names later. They'll end up looking like this:
So there ya go! Hope this helps!
I'll @jstam just to make sure he gets this and can notify the developers.

I posted this one in the new in my collection thread, but not here. I didn't even realize it was a NS copy until it arrived. As @Qalyar pointed out to me, with the UPC on the back it may not be found in many collections if copies are in B&B's. Plus it's likely not that big of an ordered book, as it's mainly a recap book meant to feed into the clone craziness, so kinda rare. Likely not a big $ book, but it's cool! Love the wrap cover too!

This checks nearly all the boxes to be a really hard book to find as a NS. After the peak of NS distribution had passed? Although certainly not a post-2000 distribution diehard, I don't think anyone would argue that direct market copies weren't dominant by '95. Way, way off the main-line titles? Check, I'm not sure I ever knew this flashback-y one-shot book ever existed at all. UPC box on the back, where no one will see it on a bagged and boarded book? Very much check.
And in 9.8 to boot. Congratulations.
Books like this aren't necessarily worth magical Christmasland FMVs, but trying to find them on purpose is another story entirely.
Thanks! I really couldn't care about the NS aspect, I'm just happy to get any copy. The NS is a fun aspect, and I didn't think about the UPC on the back thing! Good pickup.

I got this from MCS, didn't even realize it was a NS until it was pointed out to me (on the left):
- ADAMANTIUM and BuraddoRun

In addition to those MCS pickups, I added in these 2. Totally random, but I was reminded while diving in my boxes that I missed these 2 when they came out. Pull lists weren't perfect back in the day. The Kraven book was so popular that it went from a 7-issue series to a 6. Can't have a high print run. The Redemption book was part of the clone madness, of course.

Rolling on with the Hobgoblin collection! Picked up a new one that wasn't even on my radar, Spider-Man: The Parker Years. This one only has 16 in 9.8 and 22 on the census. Looks good in the slab with the wrap cover too. It's mainly a flashback book that was during the clone madness, but my man is front and center on the cover so it was an easy call. I didn't even realize it was a NS copy until it arrived.

Probably make it on the tail end of most BA definitions. But I won't complain either way, nice books.
Thanks! Glad it's approved, because I've got a new one! 1st Hydro-Man:

Thanks for the great Spidey slabs! Smooth and easy! Recommended!

Sweet new book in today! PPSSM #90 with an awesome Black Cat cover and Spidey all over the place. 9.8 WP (of course) and signed by Al Milgrom! 1st black costume in this title too.

I hope Spawn is still selling. I've got a run from 1-113 and other Spawn titles (Curse Of, Sam & Twitch, etc...) I'm looking to move!

Ok, we've got a new one! While not one of my favorite covers it is kinda cool. Spidey riding the back of Hobgoblin is pretty awesome! Also - and more importantly - this is the last Hobgoblin cover I needed in 9.8 below his "death" in #289. He did make a noted appearance in a few other issues (working on them) but this was the last "original" cover I needed in this title. I've got a #312 so from there I've go up to after his "resurrection" and get the newer ones. So here we go, ASM #286:
- g-man, ADAMANTIUM, grendelbo and 2 others

My grandfather was a frogman in WWII.
A little history... The Frogmen were the group that the Navy Seals originated from. As depicted in this book cover, one common task for the frogmen was to deactivate naval mines. From what my grandfather told me however, they never wore scuba tanks as they could risk bumping into the mines and the impact of metal on metal could trigger an explosion. Instead, the frogmen held their breath and cut into the navel mines with hand tools (while free diving in freezing ocean waters) in order to defuse them.
My grandfather and other frogmen were among other things, given "a pouch of herbs and chemicals to be worn at the waist, that will keep the sharks away." From what I remember him telling me, all they had was a swim suit, their tool kit, and their trusty bag of shark repellent.
The Navy frogmen received special training during WWII, and my grandfather's swim coach in the navy was Johnny Weissmuller, the actor who played Tarzan in the original black and white Tarzan movies. He was also an olympic medal swimmer and trained Frogmen during WWII. Apparently Johnny was quite the playboy of his day, being an olympian and hollywood star who spent his free time training the troops.
My grandfather was 6'7", and in order to get into the Navy his local recruiting officer (a friend of my grandfather's) lied on his application and said he was 5'11". Due to the small size of the ship's below deck quarters, you legally couldn't join the Navy if you were above a certain height.
He ended up being the tallest man in the US Navy during WWII, and I have a post-war newspaper clipping about this fact to prove the story. During one of his landings in the Pacific Islands, he got separated from his team and was traveling through the local jungle on foot. He was ambushed by a small group of indiginous fighters, who upon seeing him, immediately fled. My grandpa believed it may have been because they had never seen a white man before, and certainly not one as tall as him. (Disclaimer: my grandpa never harmed anyone in the war that I know of, and was the most gentle of souls). This is the coolest thing I'll hear all week.

Just going over the covers... this one:
How jealous is she? I mean, she's hiding in the bushes like groundskeeper Willie! She's a 1/2 step away from being Carl from Caddyshack!
And these 2 are in the grass and draped in tree cover. Are the making out or playing hide and go seek?
I mean, can't they just go dancing and have martinis like everyone else?

I thought maybe we'd get 2 more, vote for best 3 of 10 and then another to finish it all off - but it's not my poll.
Also - Thanks again for doing this @adamstrange! Now, let's continue to criticize everything that's wrong.

Ok.. 1 other opinion.... this one:
Is a fantastic cover. You get 4 babes for the price of 1! But is it really a romance cover? It's more of a teen/humor book. The issue after it had a friggin' gorilla on it! Eventually it goes full romance, but whereas this is a great cover I couldn't vote for it as I don't consider it a real romance cover.
