I got a new one in this week! I totally love this cover! I didn't steal this one though... -
YUP! I first learned this by reading "Blade of the Immortal" where the title character wears a kimono with the symbol on it. There is an explanation of this in every tpb so people don't get ticked off about it. Great read by the way!

I knew a boardie had this... I should have just assumed it was you! Without that label on the left that says "Exciting Intimate Confessions!" the flowers really pop. I just noticed that. Makes it a better cover! -

Totally. And 2 of those attributes are dead center in that cover. -

The #5 is an interesting one because it was almost another title. There's a cover proof that can be seen in the Cole Blacklight book where it's called "Flaming Romances" - hence the flames in the title: And the title writing changed a few times. It started off like this: After #5 is finally lost the side banner. After that it pretty much stayed the same except for changing colors. #8 (the 2nd #8) had the title as a banner instead of just being over the background. Thankfully that didn't last. -
Great buyer! Smooth transaction!

OK, here are the last two. I was waiting for the registry set to accept them and now that I'm all set I'll share. 2 more TTLR's, and now only 6 more to complete the set graded! True-to-Life Romances #13: Cool war romance cover. I'd daydream about Jan in that dress too! True-to-Life Romances #16: Nice swirl cover! Who will she pick? The guy she takes care of or the smooth operator with a cigarette and balloons? Dig those thought hearts! -

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!

I think this is a decent way to look at it, and everyone has their own opinion. You are correct, Conan was 10/70 and it's a book many people think of as the 1st copper book. My personal opinion is a bit different than most. I can say that Conan was likely the 1st copper Marvel book at least, but here's how I look at it... it's kind of like this little color scale: It can go from 1 end being the silver age to to the other being copper, but it doesn't happen all at once. Sure, Conan happened but then Spidey transitioned a bit later (I'm actually leaning towards ASM #101 now that I'm thinking about it) but some DC books could have been slightly after that. But given a few years time span we're all eventually there. Even Giant Sized X-Men didn't show up until 1975, so we didn't have a real X-book in the BA for a few years. So it gets fuzzy. This is kinda how I look at the transition between all of the "ages" in comics. In any case, I didn't mean to derail this too much. Someone post a new book! -

Yesterday was a great day for my books. I got my box with all of the above books yesterday! Very happy with how they all look in their respective cases too. But I also got grades back for my last 5 in this sub! Oddly, CGC broke out my 30 books in 25 / 5. In any case, here's the first 3: True-to-Life Romances #5: Looks much better, but 1 big defect on the back killed it. Who cares about a darn sock ad! Or looks at the back cover? C'mon! True-to-Life Romances #6: Pretty sweet moon-lit beach romance cover. That readers crease was the big defect here. True-to-Life Romances #15: Lots of floating items here. Wally Wood makes an appearance too! Other than that corner chip it was creasing here and there, with one that is obvious. It does make me wonder if giving these a C&P would help - something that I've yet to do to any on my books. I do have a list of a select few that I may do that with one day, but that's another post... -

Ok, I had been waiting to post these last few books because I needed slots for these to be created on the registry. I couldn't believe one of these wasn't there yet but I'm glad I got all of 'em up! I now have 150 books in my set, hopefully I'll add a few dozen more by the end of the year. Here's the last few from the latest sub: Law Against Crime #1 - This was the one I couldn't believe wasn't a made set yet. Classic electrocution cover! I was hoping it was a bit higher, but this is a difficult book so I'm happy with it. Overall a nice looking 3.5. It took me forever to send this is, as my other 2 issues in the run are a bit iffy and I like to send in all books in a run at once if I can. As you can tell, this was a mish-mash of titles so away it went! Living Bible #3 - I LOVE this book! I think it's sharper than a 4.5, but oh well. What a random crazy cover! Again Cole's8 rendering of water is so cool. These guys are just cool customers as they are about to drown! Talk about unique! Fun Comics #9 - Let's end with a bang! Formerly Holiday Comics, Fun Comics was a short-lived kids book that started off with this giant issue. I didn't realize this, even though it says it on the cover and was $.25, but this is a BIG book! You can see some of the candy cane square-bound spine in the upper left. That and the black cover make it a tougher book in grade. Cool to have a WP book with snow on the cover! Very happy with this one! -

Great little digest! I've got mine, had a tough time tracking it down though. I'm almost positive that this was the only Cole cover of the 3 though. However he did a bunch of pulp covers, many of which have been posted here before. This one is the most "Cole-ish" though, with those colors. I'm a sucker for his old-school sig on it too! -
