  1. I'm going in at 4.5 only because I've seen 4.0's that have looked worse. I am curious though, what grade is the seller saying it is? (I'm assuming he's given it a grade)
  2. Just a shot in the dark. The comic is better than an 8.0, but because of the fading that's what I'll grade it at. On another thread, someone invited us to scan our sun bleached covers and several were CGC graded. It was interesting to me that the fading was not mentioned on the label. Also, the fading didn't seem to effect the grade, although the two that I do remember were lower grades and maybe that's why.
  3. Here's mine. Seller on e-bay at the time made no mention of it being a sun-faded copy and for some reason, I didn't notice it. Kept it anyway.
  4. Yeah, your right, I wasn't reading it right. It makes sense the $5.95 (and yes, I'll call it the Canadian Variant) is more expensive as there are not too many out there relative to the $4.95 copy. And, I'm basing that on what's currently selling on e-bay.
  5. Had most of them, Frankenstein, Dracula, Superman, Superboy, Wolfman and at least 6 or 7 more. Built them, painted them and then spent an afternoon in the summer of '69 or thereabouts lining them up carefully one by one and destroying them with my BB gun. I was amazed the damage one could do to plastic with a BB.
  6. Thanks guys. If I'm reading this right, no difference between the US $4.95 version and the CDN $5.95 versions.
  7. JImbo, I appreciate your response. What is GPA on a $4.95 copy now...and idea? Sorry, I have no idea how to look it up.
  8. Is there any difference in the FMV of New Mutants' 1st appearance in Marvel's Graphic Novel #4 with a cover price of $4.95 and one with a $5.95 cover price? I purchased mine way back in 1982 in Canada, not the US. I don't believe mine are reprints and am hoping the difference may simply be the price at the time between copies being sold in the US and copies sold in Canada....which would make mine a Canadian Variant? Overstreet does list #4 as being published in 1982 and Go Collect agrees....on a 2nd page. However, they state that the copies with a $4.95 cover price were published in 1981. Does anyone know why there is a discrepancy on this between Overstreet and GoCollect. Someone has got it wrong and because I have 7 copies, 3 of which could be 9.8's if I went ahead and graded them, I'm kinda' curious as to what's going on these.
  9. The book has the look of having (at one time anyway) a serious spine roll. So I'll stick my neck out at the risk of being a hater at 3.5.
  10. 7.0 as is and IMO a clean and press won't help. It will be cleaner, but the bites along the edges, the spine ticks, the creases along with the corner wear will still all be there after the press.
  11. Staining and spine ticks bring this down to a 5.5 but do wish you luck on your grade.
  12. That's good advice...I'd take it. Pressing won't change the grade.
  13. lotsa' ticks...but still yeah, too nice for a 4.0 so I'll go 5.0 as well.
  14. 4.5 with a chance at a 5.0 due mostly to the spine wear. The circular shaped stain won't effect the grade as moderate stains are okay in this grade. And I do consider the stain moderate IMO. Nice copy.
  15. Sorry, pictures aren't very clear but I'll give this a shot at a 9.0. There appears to be 3 waves on the cover in the blow up of the lower left corner with no accompanying spine ticks...which is unusual. So, not sure what's happening there. Also some dirt on the cover showing up in the lower right corner, which is unusual, because the comic for the most part has very little wrong with it. IMO a cleaning would be a good idea on this. What do you guys think, a 9.4 with a cleaning? It would help if you could let us know what defects there are because I can't see a whole lot.
  16. There's a Marvel Graphic Novel called "The Pitt" and it's all about a family in a car that gets rescued. So if this isn't The Pitt one shot you are referring to above, maybe that's the one you're looking for?
  17. This one is tough to grade from the pic, but I'm thinking 8.5. I did notice some small ticks along the spine. That with the blunted corner lower right. If the comic is cleaner in hand than it looks like in the picture I could go 9.0 easily.
  18. I think a solid 8.5...mostly because of the accumulation of ticks. Nice copy.
  19. Your welcome. And furthermore (I'm going by memory) we all placed in the top 200 in the most recent grading contest with only 200 participants. So, you can trust our grading. We know things.
  20. No spine ticks, no edge wear, no creases, no corner wear, pefect corners = a chance at a 9.8. Very nice.
  21. Ding on upper left corner + 7 spine ticks = 9.0
  22. Has the look and feel of a 9.4 although admittedly, I'm not sure what it actually feels like.
