  1. I finally received my books that I submitted at the 2011 Long Beach Comic Con. Thanks for reading..
  2. You do not have to be a member to submit directly to CGC. I've been sending books directly to CGC from the begining without a membership. I am a free member here & I am a free member of the dealer I use to submit my books directly to CGC and still receive a 10% discount. I personally use comicspriceguide.com. I don't even have to log in. All you have to do is click on the 10% off CGC link and it will take you straight to the submission page. I pack my own books and send them out. I send my books out UPS ground and have my books returned to me via UPS ground to save on shipping. I use my companies UPS account number and get their shipping rates. I just pay them when I get the charges.
  3. I finally got the grades on my last submission for 2011. They are all signature series and I submitted them at the Long Beach Horror Con. I thought for sure I was gonna get more in 9.8 but I guess I was wrong. Here's what I submitted:The Incredible Hulk 1 (new series) 9.6 signed by WeemsGhostbusters 1 (88mph)Toyzz.com exclusive 9.6 signed by BlondTMNT 2 2nd print 9.2 signed by Kevin Eastman (thought this was a 9.6/9.8) Fathom 0 WWLA exclusive 9.8 signed by J.T KrulThe Incredible Hulk 1 LBCC variant 9.6 signed by PortacioAsylum NN 9.6 signed by John Carpenter (it probably would have gotten a better grade..Mr. Carpenter creased the spine when he gave it back to me..aagghh!)Hope to get these by end of next week.Have a happy new year everybody! Thanks for reading.
  4. I haven't heard alot of people griping about their price hike (just a few). I thought there were going to be more than the 3 that I have read so far. No wonder they are doing what they are doing and getting away with it. Not enough people are speaking out. I can guarantee you they will see less of my hard earned cash. CGC remember NETFLIX. They lost alot of customers.I've been collecting on and off since I was in Jr. High. Just a couple of years ago I stopped buying comics (again) on a regular basis because they raised their prices. I just go to the comic store and hit up their dollar bins. I currently just drop my books off to CGC during conventions for signature series(but that might change also). It was hard to kick my collecting habits (again) but CGC grading shouldn't be a problem. As a fellow CGC collector and customer. We need to let them know that we are not happy with the price increases! Thanks for reading.
  5. My first signature submission at a the first Long Beach Comic Con was a little let down due to the signature being smeared. Now here's the result of my second signature series submission at this years Long Beach Comic Con. I submitted 3 books and here they are with grade & who signed them. 1) Michael Turners Fathom: Dawn of War. Jay Company Edition. Limited to 3,000 copies. 10/04. Signed by writer J.T. Krul. CGC 9.8 2) Marvel Zombies #1. Variant. Spider-Man #1 Cover Swipe. Signed by arist Arthur Suydam. CGC 9.6 3) Ultimate Thor #1. Long Beach/Universal Outpost Edition. Signed by artist J. Scott Campbell. CGC 9.8 Now waiting for my Amazing Spider-Man 129 signed by Stan Lee to show up on my doorstep. Have a Great Christmas everybody!! Guess what? Spider-Man Was at my doorstep. Just got a call from home and it is waiting for me to open up. Gonna add to my registry tonight.
  6. What did you submit? I submitted a copy of Amazing Spider-man #129 that I bought from a local comic shop for around $100 (the most I've paid for a comic so far). I waited & waited for the opportunity for it to be signed by Stan and there it was an email by CGC promoting their special signature series with Stan. I could've sent a couple more comics but the Long Beach Comic Con was around the corner plus I wanted to save some money to attend and submit some more books for CGC signature series. Called CGC for the status and grade today and here are the results. It's in the encapsulation stage with a grade of 7.0. I am happy with the grade. This is my first book signed by Stan and hopefully not the last. Cant wait to add to my registry with a picture. Now I will call CGC tomorrow for the results of the 3 books I submitted at the Long Beach Comic Con. Thanks for reading.
  7. My first signature series!! good or bad experience? Well, now that I'm alittle bit more knowledged. I now know that if you want it signed be there and witness it for yourself and do not rely on a CGC rep. to handle your book like it was worth something. I will try to describe the signed books. 1st. Amazing Spiderman 606. 9.8 Even though it got a great grade and is signed (9.8). The spot where it as signed is not that great of a place. Can barely see the signature. It's in purple and its between spidey and the cat. 2nd. Danger Girl #NN 3-D. 9.6 Even though it got .2 less than I thought. It's still a great grade (I guess, if you don't mind getting grades less than 9.8). The Signature is all smeared (s*%@ks). That's all I got to say about this. 3rd. Danger Girl Special #1. 9.2 The grade on this one still shocks me but. I guess they have the high tech. equipment to find every flaws (I probably had one of those graders that does'nt like to give high grades "fire him please"). The signature on this one is placed in a good place and is not smeared. Now I'm thinking of my next convention and next signature submission. I hope I do not make the same rookie mistakes.
  8. I turned in 3 books at the CGC booth at the first ever Long Beach Comic Con. I've been sending my books to CGC now since 2005. My first CGC was at the first ever Wizard World in Long Beach. I have been submitting ever since. Now that a convention has returned to Long Beach I thought I'd give the signature series a try. I did not witness the signing but called and confirmed they were signed. Now what grade did they get? I will find out tomorrow when I give them a call. They were signed by J. Scott Campbell. The books were: Amazing Spider-Man 606 LBCC variant. Danger Girl 3-D Special 1 & Danger Girl Special #1Here are the results!Amazing Spider-Man 606 LBCC variant 9.8 Danger Girl 3D Special 9.6 (I thought this one was a 9.8)Danger Girl Special #1 9.2 (I thought this too was a 9.8)The two Danger Girls I submitted did not have any visible cover flaws(must be interior ??)thats why I though they were going to get a high grade. I was not there for the actual signing and hope it was not mishandled by either the CGC rep or Mr. Campbell.Does CGC give a report card or some sorts? I wanna know what the flaws are.
  9. Anybody know a good hopefully free software to catalog and help me keep track of my growing collection of Raw & CGC graded comics. Like most of you, I have so much that I don't know what I have anymore. A software that doesn't require a monthly or yearly fee. Any feedback would help. Thanks.
