  1. What I mean is - The CGC database seems to be split into two parts, or at least has a gap within it. First, there's the record of all comic titles. This includes how many of each title have been CGCed, how many are signatures, qualified, etc. Since the data changes each week it's also possible to know when new books are added. However, if you browse all this data you can't look up individual books that have been CGCed; only how many of each issue/variant have been. Second, there's the related but not fully linked-up database of individually CGCed comics. You input a CGC registration number, and from that can check on the details of a single book. So for example - let's say I go to a convention with two copies of Wonder Woman #600. I get Jim Lee to sign one copy, and Gal Gadot to sign the other. A friend then witnesses the event and submits the two comics to CGC for grading. Six weeks later, I can plainly see on the CGC database that two new signature series entries of Wonder Woman #600 have appeared. One is graded 9.8, the other 9.0. The comics I had signed were rare variants, so due to that plus the timing I'm almost completely certain that the two new books on the database are mine. Being impatient, I want to know which one got the 9.8 grade. From what I can tell, I can't find this information until I get the books back. The information is however already right there in the database - as soon as I know the registration numbers I can input them into search to pull up both records and find which one received the higher grade. However, by then I'll know anyway, since the comics will be sitting in front of me. Without the registration numbers I'm stuck, because the little number '1's shown in the 9.8 and 9.6 columns on the database for my specific variant of Wonder Woman #600 can't be clicked to probe deeper into the information. I don't see this as being a privacy issue - the information is clearly already there in the database. Typing in a registration number results in a display of basic info such as grade, who signed the comic, when it was signed, at which event, etc. There are no pictures of information stating who owns the comic or why it received a specific grade, etc. The gap in the information (assuming I'm not just being daft and missing something obvious) means that someone can't look up a series/issue to see who has signed copies of it. For example, say there are 50 CGCed Signature Series copies of Wonder Woman #600 in total. How many have been signed by Gal Gadot? Or Lynda Carter? Or J.M.Straczynski? Did anyone have a laugh and get Stan Lee to sign a copy? At the moment the only way to sift through that info would be know each individual registration number of each signed copy.
  2. Is there any way to look up a graded comic without knowing its registration number? Might sound like a daft question at first, but there's a comic that has been added during this week's census that I would like to check on. I know exactly which comic it is (hence knowing it's just appeared) but because I don't yet know what number's been assigned to it I can't search for it directly. Why aren't the search listings (i.e. the tallied quantities of CGCed comics on the data base, sorted by grade) clickable, such that you could then see a list of what each (say for example) Superman #400 was numbered and pick out the one you want to see the details of? Seems like a gap in the available info that must be sitting somewhere in the CGC database? Just wondering if I'm missing a trick or I am stuck until I actually receive the comic back and see the registration number.
  3. Random newbish question - so far, all the CGC grader notes I've seen justifying lower ratings cite factors affecting the front or back cover of a book. I'm yet to see a note like "page 7 torn" or "two interior pages marked with a pen", etc. When it comes to CGCing a book, is the condition of an intact and whole comic considered hugely important? Is the cover the main thing that's reviewed, or is each page actually treated with equal scrutiny? I guess since the only visible parts of a CGCed book are the covers, it kinda makes sense that their condition is considered priority. On the other hand, surely a collector of comics would want a grade based on the quality of the entire book, not just the cover?
  4. I did that, cuz I know some PM notices went to spam. But there's nothing so far >.>
  5. Were they issues of Aquaman?
  6. I paid for grader notes on two comics I've received from CGC. I got a notification saying I'd be emailed the notes. It's been over a day and nothing's come through. Worse still, after initially making the payments, visiting the registry page for each comic said "see emailed details" in green text. But today when I visit those same comic pages, I'm now asked if I want to buy the grader notes (again?!). How long do the notes take to be emailed? I thought the turnaround was 1 business day, but it's been longer than that.
  7. After a couple of minor delays, my local retailer just received back all the comics they had signed during SDCC. This included a couple they did for me. All the books have come back with plain yellow labels. No Stan Lee SS labels, no Walking Dead SS labels. Has this happened to anyone else? Are there specific criteria for whether or not Stan Lee signed books receive the SS label (the one with his portrait and signature on it) instead of normal yellow labels? Should my retailer have paid an additional fee? This is causing an issue because my local store sold signing slots to customers whilst advertising that the Stan Lee and Kirkman books would get the newer, specialist labels. It's not an authentication issue either - the Stan Lee books all say "signed by Stan Lee", but the labels are just plain. Can my retailer send the Stan Lee and Kirkman books back for cracking open and replacing the labels? Will this cost additional fees? (e.g. would CGC refund return postage costs under these circumstances?). I'm really surprised that this has happened, and don't know how the books got cleared with the CGC "dispatching officer" (i.e. the contact point at CGC that my store uses) without this error being noticed. It affects about three longboxes worth of Stan Lee CGCed books Also, none of the comics say "signed at SDCC", they just show who signed it and a date. I've seen labels from other SDCC attendees that specifically mention SDCC.
  8. Not sure if this is the right forum but sounds like the most suitable - Is there anyone who could get a comic signed by the Undertaker and sent off for CGCing, during Ace Comic Con? I'd love to get something signed but am based in the UK. I've seen people advertise slots for signings with the Justice League stars who will be attending the Con, and have already taken up a couple of offers; but no one has said anything about The Undertaker. I'd be happy to book and pay something in advance plus mail the relevant comic to a USA member if anyone intends to see The Undertaker. Thanks in advance
  9. (Yodavoice) When 94 years old you reach - sign as good, you will not, hmmm?
  10. Thanks! I was wondering if that might have been a cause for delays.
  11. Apologies if this isn't the correct board - In early July I sent off some comics for signing at SDCC 2017 then grading and 6-8 week turnaround, via my LCS who were awesome with arranging all the details. Since the end of last month (in a few cases earlier) I've seen other people get their CGC'ed SDCC books back. I've seen a bunch on sale around the internet (ebay etc) but there's still no sign of my books and all my LCS says is things are on track and the comics are expected to return in the next 2 weeks. But they've been saying 'two weeks' for the past 4 weeks now. Technically this is now week 10. Also, I don't have CGC invoice info from the LCS, I only have their invoices after paying them as the middle man. I checked the census and registry, there's no mention of any of my books (though I'm not sure whether there should be?) Is anyone else still waiting for SDCC 2017 signed books? Are there any known delays? Is there any way I can check progress with CGC by just specifying the details of a book?
