  1. I’ve been collecting since the late 70s. I am not a wealthy man but the older I get, the more expensive my tastes have become. There is no way I could fund the books I want without canibalizing my collection and taking advantage the massive gains my books have accumulated in the last 40 years. If I can make a few duckets off a trending book I will absolutely do that, dirty flipper label be damned The profits are just going back into the stacks anyway. I often ask myself what I would do if I won a million dollars, and the answer is always the same. Two chicks man. And bigger books.
  2. Im wondering how much that missing piece on the back cover on the corner will drag this down. Can a book still get an 8.0 if it’s missing a dogear? Thanks in advance!
  3. Wow that AF set is sexy AF. Nice job man. That number 3 is one of my favorite Byrne covers of all time.
  4. I have multiples of both books. I guess for me, I would view the first appearance with one panel (FF 65) a cameo and first full with CM 16 because of the established precedent on these type of things. IH 180/181, FF67/Thor 165, et al. After watching Captain Marvel, It’s apparent we haven’t seen the last of the supreme intelligence. I wonder what CGC will decide when they finally start labeling theses issues.
  5. Hmmmm. How is this case different from FF 67/Thor 165 pertaining to Warlocks first? FF 67 came out two years earlier and has 3 or 4 panels featuring warlock as well as a partial origin, yet Thor 165 gets the CGC Label as the first full appearance. Confusing.
  6. I keep seeing people claiming on EBay that captain marvel 16 is the first appearance of the supreme intelligence. Most sources I see have FF 65 pegged as his first. After looking both books up, perhaps people are considering FF65 a cameo since S.I. only appears in one panel? (although he does have several word balloons.) CM 16 has SI featured on the cover as well as 4-5 panels and it has way more impact on the storyline. CGC doesn’t name either book as a first on its labels, so what do you guys think? (I will provide screens of both issues for those of you that haven’t seen them)
  7. Another super common one. Here is confirmation they don’t grade down for that “faded look” despite what many think.
  8. On the bats 404 I’ve always loved the heavily saturated cover with the bat logo just barely peeking out. It’s such a nice design element when used like that, I have to guess that’s what the colorist intended. Big variation on every color in this comic. The darker issue looks like he is crying over the body of his joker parents, while the lighter pic looks like his suit just turned to poo.
  9. Christmas came early this year! Lucked out finding this one. I have a few copies of number 1 but the 2 was much harder to find. Nice clean copy. CGC doesn’t have any graded yet. (Correctly at least) Mine might be the first. It’s going out in a new batch after the first of the year. Any guesses on grade?
  10. Found another tough late 95 cent Marvel. Thor’s last CPV. Black covers always try to kill the sexy. Fun John Buscema one shot tucked inside the Simonson run. Often reprinted in Thor compilation books.
  11. I’m actually quite shocked you have been able to find Bats 423 plentiful in high grade. My experience has been very different in the CPV hunt. The census only shows 4 copies total compared to 73 ASM 238s. I have found ASM in particular to be the easiest to find. Im definitely in the market for a nice high grade copy of 423 if you find another copy, please pm me.
  12. This is my nicest copy. I feel incredibly lucky to have found it. I’m guessing 9.4.
  13. Swamp thing 37 is super tough. I haven’t seen one above 9.0 in the last year or so. (All the ST keys seem very scarce. Especially 25, 49 and 50) Bats 423 is also very hard to find. (last issue of the DC CPV window 10/88) SGT rock 422, DC COMICS PRESENTS 87, TEC 583 have all been really difficult for me to find even mid grade copies. XMen 201, Bats 404 and Wolverine 3 are more available but very difficult above 9.0 because of the black covers.
