  1. I think the showcase was part of a lot with Flash 105 and Atom 1. thoise books were not restored. I think the resto was disclosed, but purchase was back in the 90's so hard to remember for sure. I am a small seller, so I have no real knowledge on the comparisons between prices realized for different Grading companies other than to comment that Heritage will not even list a PGX book in their auctions. Books are up to 405 now after big jumps in ADV 247 and SHowcase 8
  2. My last 5 consigned books opened up uesterday. 3 of the books i am not expecting big results on, but I am hopeful for my Adventure 247 and Showcase 8 both shown above in their raw state. The SHowcase was a part of a lot I won in the 90's from Sotheby's After nearly 24 hours the total of the 5 is up to a whopping $9
  3. Blissard's listings were what brought me out of long imposed avoidance of ebay . I was trolling bidding on many of his listings and have a lot of fun file copies, wherehouse finds etc. I have many of the books like Dagwood Splits the Atom and the caspar major league baseball promotional books in IKEA frames hung in a dozen individual offices at my company and my hallway at home. Also was bidding on almost all of his auctions that had Four colors. so far have 85 from him. hard to hone in values since his listings often had several issues some filling holes and others serving as upgrades. The average grade of the books is 4.81 and , except for the 0's @ 3.64, all of the other hundreds were tightly grouped between the 200's @ 4.19 and the 800's @ 5.54 In the early days of my project i tended to avoid Christmas themed issues as well as TV westerns that were before my time, like Cheyene and Lawman. Now I watch the reruns of those shows on MeTV since I have the comics.
  4. i have estimated cost and entered the 700s and 600s and am now up to 997 books evaluated. Even though I am raising the average values entered and have several books over $100, the average continued to fall to 46.62. maybe the trend will change when I get to first series and first 200 of the second series. Other than those sections all other hundreds are currently below a 40 average. Here are some of the early additions from the low 100 section Keep running across boardie trading partners like Montezuma, whose books were all his under copies , and Catrick who I did several trades with, each of those added at least 50 books to my quest, but the details of which were not tracked at the time. For Catrick I know I ended up sending him many of my unusual items that I had picked up in the early days of ebay including many of the books I had won from an ebay seller named Grapevine. I used to troll his auctions looking for bargains , much like I am now doing on 4gems books on heritage. I have actually won 4 of Glans books with bids under 25 ( of course with the 29 fee, tax and shipping the actual cost nearly triples)
  5. nice books Brian and Jimbo I think at least part of this project of including cost into the spreadsheet is just an excuse to look through the books again. So many of the images are burned into my brain that when I see a Four COlor that does not look familiar I can tell if it is missing without even knowing the number. I am also finding minor entries to correct such as the name I had for issue 662 needed to me changed to "When Knighthood was in Flower", or a few books where the grade was way off or I had entered price as an estimate and had found correct documentation. So I have now entered the 900s and 800s . the priced books are now up to 895, but the average continue to fall and is now down to 47.96. It would have been worse but I entered the 7 books that are at Heritage from recent wins in 4GEMs listings. three of those filled holes and the others were upgrades Since I can easily track it I am now looking at the totals investment my 100's as well as by last two digits , but any one big book will really impact this ( with the addition of 9.2 Bringing up father, the 37's jumped from 27 to 111 and the average for the first one hundred jumped from 139 to 151) The below books are the first ones I obtained in the under 100 section. They must have been very early on as several I do not have the trading partner identified. I have upgraded the 17 in a deal with Harley last year
  6. I have finished the second long box and am working on the third those go down to 760 I have entered most books from 1000 and up, so about 1/3 of the run My spread sheet says I have 798 books evaluated for cost. As expected these new additions were mostly added through board trades many years ago and the vast majority were entered as well under the $50. So the average per book has fallen to 49.6 . I have a small batch of 4GEMS books at Heritage. when those come in they will raise the ave value by at least 1 since I filed a hard hole with a beautiful #37
  7. Going back and RETCONing my paid pricing to fill in the gaps I have gone through and estimated paid prices for first the two short boxes of upgrades. that added about 80 books Then went through the ending long box( 1150-end), and now working on long box 2 (1149- 961) out of four
  8. First set of auctions just closed Total hammer for the 8 was 13,200 and I still have 5 lots for a later auction I thought that Comic Cavalcade # 1 would be the star, but it ended up being a distant second to the More Fun # 19 which I guess was actually platinum age. Did anyone from here even bid on these books?
  9. My Ace Comics #1 leads off the heritage signature auction in about 12 hours Four early golden age#1issues among the 8 books Is anytime here bidding on any of my books?
  10. One of these weekends when I am feeling ambitious I will work in the missing Four colors into my spreadsheet and slot them in where they most likely belong. Will take extra thinking as I had built in logic to handle the missing ones when calculating the various percentages. So as of now, between the first and second Series I have 1277 unique issues of which 1276 are graded. The average grade is now 4.797. moving that number up is quite difficult. I would have to upgrade 26 books by 5 full grades to even push that to 4.9 As far as pricing I only have 647 books entered with an average of 54.35 A single book like the First Series #1 I got off heritage a few months ago raised the average by nearly $3 per book, but it would take would only take 14 $5 books to drop the average by a dollar. While there were some valuable books entered from MCS, almost all of the books I penciled in are well below $25 this would certainly lower the average "investment" . I am planning on first entering the numbers on paper as I go through the books and then go back and enter several hundred for at least a first pass on the project.
  11. I recently upgraded The Corruptors show above at some level this tracking is just to play with my collection again, and reminisce I was able to fill in maybe 20 books from MCS as most of the 104 books came after I had expanded my tracking to include grade and price information which must have been at the end of 2015. When I put all of the boxes together I continued on the process of pulling out the low grade ones that were candidates for upgrade. I now have two full short boxes with those books ( that also opened up room for more books in the keepers for many more to be sorted in. Decided to start with those two boxes in reverse order for adding prices. came across the first of the 53 undercopies I traded with Montezuma very early on in my collecting/trading quest. I wonder what all was involved in those transactions. His copy6 is the Phantom planet shown here
  12. Actually my offerings are much more modest, and not a part of that auction I have up A Green Mask #1 and a Sansom #1 which I must have bought in the early days of ebay . I part of 13 books I consigned three months ago. I guess I did not put up the Flame #1
  13. I picked up a few Fox#1's in the early days of ebay. They are up for sale now at heritage
  14. The first batch is now in their last week. Actually using the proceeds to pay for grading fees on another group of my best books. Spent 5k on 50 or so books in the last year and plan to do the same in the next year I think all of these books were bought in the early days of ebay Does not seem to be much love for the Fox books Flame or Green Mask
  15. I was grabbing the last few issues in one of my older scan sections. I was thinking that they were actual last four numbered issues Little did I know th none of those issues had prices associated and came in separate transactions with Reality Consensus( I believe a bordie) Mile High, Moe's Attic ( a trade at SDCC involving 47 issues for my other undercopy of B&B 28) and ft88
  16. finally going back to try and fill in some sort of cost for the books I obtained prior to greatly expanding my tracking maybe 7 years ago. I added a section for numerical grade as well as cost, and have added most all books ever since. More things that I can track and do statistical info on, like tracking the % completed for each 100 and then calculating a standard deviation on those ( I am between 91 and 99% completed on each section ) I was missing info on maybe 600 books. I entered grades first as it was far more important than cost/value Now the project of back tracking. Some will be easy like the batches I failed to enter from MCS Their system is excellant and I was easily able to obtain all of the info on any transaction. Far more difficult will be to break down the transaction I did with Flaming carrot, an ebay seller who I traded my very low grade 3rd copy of B&B28 for 16 books over 15 years ago.
  17. I liked the original series, so I thought I would give the reboot a shot. Have enjoyed them, especially the Halloween episode I do enjoy a good tome travel from the Time Tunnel or even the classic Time Machine. If I was at my home puter I would post my classics and gold key issues
  18. I used to have this one. Was the only golden age book in a collection I bought about 35 years ago. I think I sold it for more than the entire collection cost me
  19. fun topic for a thread Dont remember ever seeing Action 200 before , thanks for posting
  20. Wasn't it ComicConnect that sold "The Tailor to Stan Lee"s collection? Mr Parsow did quite well on that
  21. I have enjoyed the TOrpedo cons especially the ones in Hollywood.. Traded for one of my biggest Four Colors there I just heard that Torpedo was in the process of opening a large store in the Topanga Mall in the SFY. While looking into that I found out that they had already opened two other stores in the Orange County area Al have enjoyed going to and selling at Terry's shows.
  22. I have Comic Cavalcade 1 and WF 13 up for auction at heritage now ( for the next 3 weeks) Also have CC 4 coming up in a weekly in a couple of weeks
  23. the first 8 golden age listings are live now. This auction runs for 3 weeks I think the newest book is from 1945. All books came from the early days of eBay when I was looking for interesting Golden age books
  24. As I feared, the first attempt at links to my auctions did not work Hopefully these will work better. Must be somebody who is looking for a SHARP Showcase 8, even if it is with CT You can view and bid on my entire consignment in auction #7283 at the following link: https://www.ha.com/c/search.zx?saleNo=7283&collection=172&type=friend-consignorlive-notice&FC=0 You can view and bid on my entire consignment in auction #122249 at the following link: https://www.ha.com/c/search.zx?saleNo=122249&collection=76&type=friend-consignorlive-notice&FC=0
  25. I did not find Slayor's grading to be that bad, but many of his prices are very high Here are some of the books that I got from him a mix of graded and raw
