Post Your FOUR COLOR Comic Covers Here
jmg3637 replied to Comicdey's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
As expected I was shut out in 4GEMS weekly auctions. Honestly I do not know how I even won the one that I did I was high at the close of internet bidding on all 3 books I was missing. In most cases already well over guide ( from last year) Each book over doubled during the live bidding. Congrats pn another great week Glen Guess I will have to be satisfied with my current hoard. At least I can enjoy the time spent organizing them -

SO this weeks offerings from 4GEM seem to focus on TIllie the Toiler ( what did she TOIL at?_ and Little orphan Annie Annie was a comic I read in the daily paper as a kid along with Tracy and Gasoline Alley which are among the earliest Four COlors Annie seems hard to find as I am only missing 3 books this week and two of them are hers and I only recently picked up the #18 as well Since I finished working my way down from 300 among my earliest additions I will start working my way up from there I seemed to have figured out the naming issue on downloading from Pbucket. If the name has no space (i.e. FC301) the name is not altered of course that does not make for easy review and sorting so I am changing those. OTOH if the name has a space ( i.e. FC 312 Tonto ) spmehpw there is an underscore and a a string of numbers and digits attached at the end -

jmg3637 replied to Silver's topic in Silver Age Comic Books

What's new in your Silver Age collection this week

Nice book I actually read the funnies in the daily paper way prior to reading comics. Maybe that is partially why I switched to FOur Colors bout 15 years ago. Is there a thread for Silver age Action Comics? I paged back about a year and could not find one. This is one of my earliest original Action comics recently freed from photobucket. guess it was worth it for them to be stored there as a main repository of my scans for maybe 2- years. I remember xcanning and posting images from their back in the days of the ebay comics chat board -

Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!
jmg3637 replied to Point Five's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
I have quite a few scans to add to this thread. So glad that photobucket forced me to pay ransom to have the scans released for my use To the best of my recollection I still have all these books in their raw state -

While I have always liked DC more than Marvel I was able to build a very nice collection of Marvel while I was buying collections and culling the best books for my collection. I often had 3 or 4 OO copies to chose from for myt keeper copy.

Thanks for the link. I will check it out and post there. The 210 was one of the few DC keys from the silver age that eluded me. Missed a good shot at one and still regret it. The other one was Showcase 22 -

Thanks for looking. I am not surprised that you could not find anything I was missing. The upgrades see easier to find. In my last deal with Mr Bedrock we were only able to find one missing, but about 10 vary nice upgrades. I have to relearn the New upgrade listings. with dropping 30+ off and adding nearly 100 it really id like s whole new goal -

Playing around with new technology. Got a new HP all in one and scanned directly from my phone Newest itteration of my tracking spreadsheet. Since I gave filled or upgraded so many that if I kept my target upgrades at 2.5. I would have over a column extra. So I changed my acceptable from 3 to 3.5. Little did I know I have nearly 100 3.0, so adding them was about 36 too many I had wanted to incorporate my cost basis into my 1 page and figured out a way to exclude from the upgrade section if my cost was above a selected amount. I really doubted if I would ever consider upgrading something like iss2 Don Winslow that I traded with MusterMark to obtain. Even though it was only a 2.5 we valued it at several hundred and it simply did not belong on an upgrade list. I needed to eliminate 35 to make it fit nicely. Knocking out 100 books only removed 8. Even down to 50 was not enough. A $25 min keeper level went to far . It turned out that 29 made the columns work out just right -

Legion of Superheroes collecting thread
jmg3637 replied to Johnny U's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
There must be a thread for NON LSH Silver Age Adventures. Until I find it Ill just post LSH here I thought that they took over the series at 300 even if they were not on the cover for a few of those issues -
After freeing my collection of scans from photobucket I am organizing and enjoying them. I still have the actual book in most cases. Seems like various long running titles deserve their own thread. I went back 15 pages and could not find a thread on Adventure comics so i am starting one off Here are some of my earliest issues from that series. Not sure where GA actually ends but certainly by 247 ( my favorite issue)
