  1. I think it is a 4 or 5 with a press and clean. There is still gloss on the cover but the damage brings it back down. DO NOT remove the tape. GCG does not consider tape restoration. You can still get a blue label if there is no colour retouch or trimming.
  2. There are a couple of slightly restored ccg 2.0's sold on Heritage Comics last year. Both fetched US$1,900 with the buyers premium. Seeing those makes me think yours is a 1.5-1.8.
  3. Thank you Lions Den. As candidates for grading, most of my oldies have a real flaw of 1 kind or another and keep me on the fence from submitting. In hand, that GRR feels like new, except for the top edge wrinkle and serious tanning. 8 or 9 would be great by me. Agree with the reco on #2. A cleaning for sure but worry about those crushed spines I'm seeing on ebay from those pressed books. I'm just hoping they were amateurs or very brittle to begin with. This book is soft and can take it I think. There is a slight crease down the right side, that does not break the colour, I may chance it for. I just hope for fine from its feel.
  4. I remember having a tough time finding any kind of good copy of this book and settled on this. Paid CDN$190, at a comic convention, over 20 years ago. Found it in an x-men bin and the seller asked me "where did you find that". He obviously thought he had lost that book and would not budge on its sticker price. It has the cursed spine split, 1" at the bottom and 1/4" at the top but otherwise really sharp. I hate date stamps but this position lessened its impact. I've heard the split would kill its grade. What do you think?
  5. Upon seeing what these old spidey's are going for these days, I've pulled these out of hiding recently after 15+ years, for another look. Some are better than I remember and some are worse. Collected a run from when I was a kid, and filled it in into adulthood, and guess I should have submitted some for grading back then. CGC was just new however and I didn't agree with "locking up" your books from reading them like that (or smelling them). Even bought a couple, but broke them out so they would "fit in" with the rest of my collection. Think that was a mistake as I wish I'd kept them in now.
  6. I would love to get your opinion on my Golden Record Reprint #1. A little tanned around the edges but nice and sharp. And my #2. Could use a pressing.
  7. If this very nice book has a detached cover, I don't think it will ever get more than 1.0.
