  1. Archie #14 CGC 7.5 $750 shipped SOLD Something about the stitching software is making the colors dull especially on the Archie title, so I'm including an image without the label so that you can see the colors a little better on this one. The images with the labels just don't do the books justice. It's partly my inexperience with a new scanner, I'm sure.
  2. more Archies coming, but now for something completely different.... Captain Marvel #1 GD/VG $38 shipped
  3. The following images are stitched b/c I no longer have a legal size scanner. You might notice a color change at the top where the scanning stitch is.... Archie #16 CGC 6.0 $400 shipped SOLD
  4. I plan to scan a couple of more early Archies tomorrow night.

  6. I'm sure this is well-known around here, but I understand a lot of GA keys are scarce due to WWII paper drives.
  7. This is a good point. Look at FF #1. It was one of the most important keys long before the recent run of Marvel movies and it has not been diminished (very much) by some really awful movies.
  8. There are a lot of comic covers that I like, but the historical significance of Action #1 with Superman picking up a car still makes it the one that I would most want to own. I like to imagine what it would be like to see it for the first time in 1938 when no superhero like Superman had ever been seen before. I have to admit though, Captain America knocking out Hitler is pretty cool. It's no wonder we won WWII, we had all those supers fighting on our side. Does anyone know whether the Germans or Japanese had their own funny book heroes during the war?
  9. It's hard to see everything through a slab. Did you ever get the grader's notes?
  10. I think that the creasing can be minimized but not hidden completely because it's too far from the black line that separates the front and back cover graphics to put it right on the crease. I'll say 6.0 .
  11. I'm at Good / 2.0 . I don't see any of the defects that push it down from Good to Fair such as large pieces missing from the cover (up to 1/4), missing staples, missing centerfold, or no reflectivity of cover ink. The defects that are there, such as staple tears and cover creases are all allowed in the Good grade.
  12. This just arrived today! I've also included the first Sabrina story page by the one and only Dan DeCarlo!
  13. I suppose it takes a generation to really know whether a character has staying power beyond the original creator. For example, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Archie, Micky Mouse, Donald Duck, outlived their creators and were eventually written and drawn by multiple artists and writers. We won't know whether Rick Grimes or Deena Pilgrim (Powers) will be around after Kirkman and Bendis are done with them. Therefore, it's unclear whether or not their first appearances will be considered true keys in the future.
  14. It's true, but I suppose that people said that children don't read books anymore until Harry Potter came out. Perhaps it just takes a brilliant writer and a company that can market it. Comics are awfully expensive for kids anymore.
  15. I bought this about a year and a half ago. I guess I'm in the club!
  16. I just looked at the bottom of this page and saw that https://www.facebook.com/CGCcomics/ has 18,666 likes and 18,686 followers. That is probably a (small) fraction of the collecting community. And the group https://www.facebook.com/groups/ComicBookCollecting/ has 296,680 members. Since it is a closed group, there is a tiny bit of effort to join.
  17. That's seems like a meaningful number. I wonder how many customers C'Link has, as well as ComicConnect and Heritage Auctions for comics. I would imagine that a fair percentage of active, serious collectors have interacted with one of those businesses in the last decade.Does anyone know?
