  1. I didn't know Roger well but spoke to him a few times in the past four years. He was a great guy, from my experience. I initially asked him about a specific piece of art I was looking for, and he took the time to see if he could locate it. I was a random, and he took a good amount of time to try to help me. Gave me a ton of history on it, which wasn't public knowledge. He knew the original owner of the piece, funny enough. From my short interactions, he was a real gem.
  2. I know the card and am familiar with both versions. A lot of the roughs looked different from the finished versions. Here's a better scan of what I posted before. It could be something different but it is marked as card 11 and aliens are killing humans with guns.
  3. Gotcha. When it said preliminary in the description I assumed it was sketch prelim.
  4. I agree with you, I believe it to be the best as well - I will not be surprised if it ends up in the Halperin collection. It will be a crazy and fun auction to watch from the sidelines.
  5. So this is the same comp that came to mind since it's the same type of classic image Black Cat is to comics. However, I think 250k is where this will fall roughly. I could be completely wrong, but I remember the talk when Chamber of Chills was coming up for sale. A lot of collectors were saying 500-750k. When that auction ended many said it was such a deal. If it was, I feel like plenty of offers would have been made, but when you look at the listing, there aren't any pending/rejected.
  6. At this point, you've put it out there and brought some attention to the situation. Not much more you can do at this point. At the end of the day he will see your information and feel how he feels about the piece (which you can't change) and the community will decide what they feel is the "legitimate piece". You could ask him to change his description or talk to his friends but I wouldn't expect much from that.
  7. The result is high, but you're getting one of Mignola's best drawing pieces from a prime era. It's by far the best Dracula image there is. For context, I don't care much for the Dracula comic but I threw 40k at it in hopes of taking it down because it is an amazing example. I agree that for the money I'd also rather have Hellboy but I felt that way with the Death in the Family cover results. You could buy a couple of good vintage Hellboy covers for this price, but for the same dollar amount, you couldn't take down one of the best Hellboy covers at this point.
  8. Not sure if the current owner is public knowledge, but I got to see the cover in person about a year and a half ago at a collector's house. It's a cool piece. Gotta agree with you on the composition.
  9. Where do you think this should have landed at? I wasn't aware of the previous sale but thought it was worth 35k
  10. He's one of the best guys out there. I hope he has a great future in the industry. He's too talented not to.
