Okay, since The_Beyonder went there... Has anyone ever come across this exchange in Betty and Veronica #176 (2002)? I think Archie is a Peeping Tom! Veronica is changing from her swimsuit from the previous page in the first panel. The next panel is from a tree presumably across the street!

ASM 365 was the throw-in, but I'm thinking now that the Iton Man was also thrown in. I was digging through his long boxes and overheard him say to another customer that he had a box he just bought outside (indoor/outdoor flea market) that he hadn't priced yet. I asked if I could take a look when he was done and the dealer said he actually had two boxes and I could look through the other one. I pulled ten or so books from those boxes. The other guy was a little green and missed all but an Avengers Annual 10. All total, I spent $285.

Right, but if you drop them off at the post office, they scan and weigh them and the receipt will have their scale weight on it. I always take them in so they have to scan them in on the spot.

Yikes! My least favorite thing about the digging race- trying not to get distracted by what the others are pulling! I once walked up to a booth right behind a guy. He immediately snagged a slabbed ASM 300 marked for a pretty good deal. Sucks I missed it, but while he was chatting with the dealer about it, I was raiding the raws! Same flea market, different month, there was a guy ahead of me for three booths of comics. As I'd come to one, he'd be halfway through it. I kept trying to grab a peek of his stack whenever I could. Hard not to think about what he was beating me to.

From what I've read, I think you're both right. Can you choose to get a qualified label, or is it up to CGC? Now, would this book sell better as a universal 0.5/1.5 or a qualified 5.0?

So I was able to snag that grail 181 with the Marvel Value Stamp intact. Unfortunately, there was an ad page earlier in the book with an ad tore out. Apparently somebody needed x-ray glasses and they needed them right away! Questions: What does it do to the grade to have an add tore out (see pics)? Would it be better to take the green label to see the score without the defect? Does the gravitas of the book play any role in this for good or bad? My plan is to get it graded and sell it, so we're looking to maximize the sale price.

My vote is for Question! ...the only 1st appearance I have from that group.

Digging through boxes in a guy's garage. Hot as heck, trying not to drip sweat on the books. I finally started taking the boxes outside to work through them.

I'm waiting on press results to see if it's visible after pressing. The Man of Steel #18 has a 4 inch blade cut in the center of the cover that penetrates two pages deep. Very hard to see until you know it's there. Still, maybe a good placeholder until you find a better one? Asking $15. The Batman #497 still has a small remnant (see pic) of the promotional cover that was attached to it. I had no idea they re-used those. I just assumed they reprinted the reprint! Asking $50. There is an Action Comics #686 behind the Justice League America #69! Sold one recently for $355. The #686 looks great, but has two creases at the bottom front spine corner. Asking #325.

My brother and I got the Roman Soldiers! So flat, most of them couldn't stand up without pushing them into the dirt a little. Good times.

Guys, I apologize for not being a diligent board reader! Had I known this thread talked about the DCU logos, I'd have posted here 1st. I'm not a big Death of Superman fan, but I love finding DCU logos! Hunting comics is my favorite hobby. My PC has reached that point where I'm only looking for a very narrow list for myself, so I've been hooked on the flip for a while now. I wish I had the original Craigslist pic I found that led to this lot. There was a 686 sitting on top of a pile, but the rest of the books were hard to see. The seller didn't let on that there were so many multiples of each pack. I'm thinking he thought maybe no one would want to buy a bunch of the same books. He had them stacked by issue across the counter in his antique store when I walked in. I'd only seen one 2-pack in all my hunting, so I was a little overwhelmed for a second.

Okay, finally home! I took pics of all of them and I'll post them in a sales thread. Take a look if interested!

Shout out to the wife today for scouting! When I was digging at a comic shop in Branson, MO she was sending pics of comic stashes at the flea market/antique places she and her mother were visiting. Exactly ZERO comics were added to my PC and sale pile, but at least she's trying! Next time we're up this way, I'll run over to Spingfield. Seems to be alot more going on over there.

I was just having this conversation with my wife! Well, by conversation, I mean I was talking and she was pretending to listen. She likes to humor me when I talk comics. When setting a price on Ebay I take into account both auctions and BIN sold numbers. I disregard the outliers (ridiculous low bid wins and the highest BIN sale if its 20%+ higher than the rest). If it's a hot spec book, I'll push the envelope a little. As for negotiations, I actually prefer getting offers so I can at least get the ball rolling. I buy as low as I can so that when selling I don't mind cutting the next guy a deal.

Yeah, the only thing on Craigslist in my neck of the woods is usually advertisements from people buying comics. I pop on a few times a month just in case and saw the Action 686 on top of a stack. Turns out the seller owns an antique place and didn't think he could move them with his average clientele. When I saw the stacks of multiples, it took some effort not to gawk at the stack if nine 686's! What do you guys think about keeping them in the 2-pack or splitting them up for sale? I don't plan of keeping any of these for my PC.

A Craigslist lead brought me to an antique store where the owner wanted to unload some comics a friend gave to him a decade or so ago. 48 2-packs, mostly DC Universe logos. I'll add a good group shot later.

I don't necessarily need a grade, but it's more of a grading question than "general". What do these wrinkles do to the grade point-wise? The one on the UPC is very tight like it snagged in the roller during production (wishful thinking). Is that taken into consideration when grading? The back looks more like a rough scuff than a wrinkle, so I'm not sure that will press out at all.

I know, right? I've had a little of both this season. I had two lots arrive just two days after dropping them off at the post office. Super quick! On the flipside, I had one bound for NJ, I'm in TX, sit in NJ's hub for maybe two weeks before finally going out for delivery. Also had one bound for Louisiana go to Memphis and then back to Dallas before going to Louisiana. Right now I'm dealing with grief from buyers! One bought two lots within a day of each other. He paid for the first one right away, but has yet to pay for the second. I'd like to ship them together since I offer free shipping. It's only been a few days, what do you guys find is a normal turnaround from clicking to BIN and actually paying for an item? I guess I should stop sounding cheap and just ship the first one ahead of the second. In other news, I received a notice from eBay today that there is a hold on payment for a listing that the buyer opened a claim on because it hasn't been delivered yet. This buyer paid me on December 29th. I shipped on the 30th. Eight days later and he's opening a claim because he hasn't received his books? I think I'm just sore that he contacted eBay instead of just hitting me up for a progress check. Can buyers not see the tracking information on their end? If not, wow! I'm sending that info to each buyer as soon as I ship from now on.

Someone said that the Captain Marvel packs may have a Spider-Man 24 sketch variant in the middle. I looked today and the packs do have a white comic in the middle, but it doesn't match up with what the edge should look like. Has anyone else heard this?

Good one. When posting BIN on Ebay, I usually try to line up with whatever it's going for in the condition it's in, expecting someone to offer less. If a buyer offered me $35 like your example, I'd counter with $40, but wouldn't accept lower unless it's been posted for a few weeks (I like to keep things moving). However, I think profit margin plays a role as well. I usually buy for a dollar and flip in the $30's, so if a comic is going for $49 on the regular, but mine has been sitting for a while, I'm more likely inclined to drop my price and/or take a lesser offer. Monstro mentioned the seller "rudely dismisses" an offer. I don't know where the line is between reasonable starting offer and low ball, but I've outright declined offers before when I felt the issue was big enough to wait for the next bite. Now, I'm more likely to stick to a range in counter offers rather than "meet in the middle" just to get the deal done. It took me a while to get there though.
