  1. That’s actually not a bad idea, but I wouldn’t know him to see him, to be honest. Maybe he will see this thread, and who knows...Thanks for the idea.
  2. I thought I would reopen this old thread with a quick contribution. Like many here, the Comic Shop was one of the stores I frequented as a kid, and it was an iconic establishment in Vancouver. I have a 1980 Comic Shop window poster / flyer that is now 40 years old, and I had it framed in the store’s base colours of yellow and red. The institution now lives on in my house, with many fond memories attached.
  3. Here’s a few of my favourites: Spinner 1: Spinner 2: Spinners 1 & 2: DC Comics Promo Light Box (1989): Batman / Watchmen Promo Light Box (1989): Both Light Boxes:
  4. Thank you. I never expected it to happen. Ever. But like my juke box, and other treasures that I have harvested, daily searches ultimately do pay off. The thing with me is I’m obsessive when I decide that Im going to find something, and it eventually does come along with patience.
  5. Pretty darn happy right now. I’ve been searching daily on Craig’s, Kijiji, Varage Sale, etc, and it finally paid off. Responded to an ad about 60 seconds after it was posted, and here’s what I scooped an hour later. I’ve spent the last week wiping it down - super clean and original and not a single broken weld. I’m told it’s about 40-50 years old. 5 sides, 10 rows of baskets per side, 10 comics per basket = 500 capacity. It nicely holds golden age books too! I’m pretty stoked with this great piece of industrial art. Some pics:
  6. I’m sure there are a few of us imagining what it would be like to find just one of those under the tree, nevermind the whole lot. You are an incredible collector of these beautiful books. Well done.
  7. Thank-you Bronty. Great advice. Although I will eventually figure out what are my favourite books, I’m more interested in just getting into the market at this point, and then refining later. I’ll definitely check out CLINK and try to land my first. Unfortunately, I have zero concept of proper pricing at this point, but I’m sure that will come in time. Thanks for your advice! Dan.
  8. Hi everyone. I have read every word of this 72 page thread and I am in awe of these books (WECA and FECA to a slightly slightly lesser degree). I’m also in awe of you folks who have assembled such amazing collections, and who are all so knowledgeable in this area of collecting. I’m a casual comic collector of sorts, but these WECA books from Canada have thoroughly piqued my interest and I would love to get into the game; problem is that I have no idea of how or where to really start buying these gems, apart from the usual places like EBay I would probably not be interested in book
