  1. I sent my books to a presser in Florida. He’s awesome and delivers the books to CGC. Feel free to message me and I’ll give you the link to his site 👍🏻
  2. Great thread. I thought comic collectors were ravenous wolves but nothing has compared to what I’ve seen trying to collect tobacco pipes, particularly Peterson pipes of Ireland. It’s pretty wild. I really dig the history going back to 1865 and the traditional shapes. Their metal-work has historically been outstanding and most of their pipes have a silver band and in some cases gold. This allows for stamping and dating which is a plus. when buying a birth year set for a kiddo, I think most get coins like a proof set or silver dollar. I ended up getting the Peterson anniversary pipe for each of my kiddos. I figure They can do what they want with it after I give up the ghost But here are a few I’ve been fortunate to acquire
  3. You have a great eye. The inner battle to nab that was very real. That’s such a tough cover- Deal of the month- nice grab 👍🏻
  4. It’s no longer just a lazy Sunday If you all haven’t yet seen it, Randall Dowling is just getting warmed up with an incredible thread of vintage magazines- Frazetta, Warren, and other desirable publications. His kudos thread alone speaks for itself. here’s the link
  5. Hands down the most beautifully haunting copper age book ever released. No cover pierces the soul like this one. …Build the wall
  6. Some absolutely incredible magazines too! I believe Heritage Auctions, when selling a slabbed book from this collection, have been placing a custom sticker to identify it as such. I too wish CGC would consider this a pedigree.
  7. Often, the helpful guys on the forum who suggest researching are worth reaching out to for advice. There are some excellent pressers who play in the CGC forum sandbox 👍🏻. One of them goes by the name of a baby kangaroo All the best to you!
  8. Even though Doors open 7pm CST Thursday, I’m planning on camping out in this thread all night so I’m first in line tomorrow evening ⛺️
  9. While I've not directly participated in Dale's holiday thread this year, I've had a great deal of fun participating/watching on the sidelines. Dale is a one-man machine running the extensive thread that he does. I can't even begin to imagine how many hours he devotes to this. One observation that has really resonated is that It's very apparent that Dale has a great reputation as a seller and it goes back MANY years. I initially wondered how someone could sort of "blindly" make a knee-jerk purchase without studying the book. However, having poured over his thread, I see why people snap up his books in the blink of an eye. He grades accurately and his prices are well, exceptional. While buying from threads like this may not be for everyone, I definitely see why people gravitate to his thread.
  10. This book is too important to be buried in a thread. You just don’t find this in the wild in such well preserved condition if I didn’t have my sights set on other things
  11. Great eye! Have you ever considered doing this grading thing at a professional level? 😂 It is an improbable finger bend that doesn’t break color 👍🏻 ty!
  12. Appreciate thoughts on how the grading might go on this - book is clean and well centered. Light dust shadow on part of back cover and thought I heard CGC factors in the age of the book- when it comes to this defect
  13. Hi All, Thanks so much for any input-trying to keep building a nice collection. This is a nice magazine in hand- clean spine -biggest issue is a light color breaking scratch back left top corner. Doesn’t break color on inside cover Some press-able qualities so appreciate input on that as well Thanks so much!
  14. Pretty sure one on Clink in 9.6 just went for over 3k at auction
  15. I don’t know Jim personally, but any friend of Jesus is a friend of mine.
  16. That’s a beauty!!! You’re one of the most conservative graders I know. If you don’t mind me asking, where do you put this one?
  17. Here’s one that just never comes up in this grade but needs no introductions in terms of its desirability. As high as this went, considering it ended on a non peak day- a holiday, at a non peak time, during an economic downturn I’d say the winner got a sweet deal . This is a Frazetta masterpiece for sure. 👍🏻
  18. And the grade is in! You all are impressive with your grading skills to say the least! Appreciated everyone’s input I really like how creepshow presents encapsulated 👍🏻
