  1. Allie rocks and so does her collection!
  2. My registry is super out of date, but yeah it sucks that the book was dropped. I’m sure it’ll be resolved though. Eventually. Lol
  3. This looks like a great press candidate. I wouldn’t submit this for a grade without a press first.
  4. 9.0 to possibly a 9.2. If this was graded as a 9.8 someone missed the mark. Can’t say I’d be surprised though.
  5. I was thinking 6.5. I read the other posts and that seems to fall pretty much in line with the others
  6. With marvel weighing, I’m seeing a bit of a tidying up on this nonsense. Honestly, I could care less about the acetate covers. Never really did. If Joe Collector wants them, buy them and I’m happy if you’re happy. My skin is in the game on the grades of 10 and 9.9 that were given to these polished turds. They bring to light what we already suspected…there’s a policy in place where CGC is willing to juice an occasional grade to 10 or 9 instead of a 9.8 to get collectors to chase that golden ticket. Those 10 and 9.9 drip drips keep people coming back, and keep those 9.9 and 10 grades rare and special on the label because the actual comic books inside aren’t a damn bit different. I always could live with this little game. As I said before, my theory is that CGC was sending a signal on this acetate business that if any retailer makes one of these special deals with us, we will grade it and make it worth the dealer/retailers while. More or less saying, “hey, we’re both going to profit off this.” I care about the credibility of CGC, so the signal that I received was, “we don’t have any credibility, so your bins of CGC slabs don’t have any credibility either.”
  7. When I buy slabbed books, I buy CGC. This has eroded my confidence in CGC’s grading practices immensely. I just can’t get past the high hit rate with the 10s and 9.9s. It completely flies in the face of 20 years of statistical grading data. I’ve submitted a handful of books for grading over the years with the expectation that no matter how good that book looks, my best case scenario starts at a 9.8. Period. CGC can come out with any explanation they want at this point, but my gut tells me that those grades just aren’t kosher. Was there a deal in place with Black Flag or did CGC decide internally to juice a few of these grades? We’re giving a strong signal that we’re open to grading these bastardized books for you and you’re going to make bank, bring us your books/business/money. Does it matter? Either way this was shady. I’ll never give up my love of the comic book hobby, reading and collecting. CGC has lost my respect.
