  1. Added lots of Jim Lee (and some Todd) to my collection today
  2. More dollar bin finds (mix of $1 and $2 comics, these 34 came out to $54) Includes first bishop, first tri sentinel, first circuit breaker, first Monet, first Omega Red, first Jim Lee comic interior art and first Jim Lee cover art.
  3. Incredible find for that Superboy, congrats!
  4. Yup, as others said, not worth grading. This could knock the book down to a 9.2
  5. Yup it was a really long time coming. And all these years I had no clue if that Captain Marvel Adventures 25 looked good or not. But it turned out to be the best looking of the bunch so I am overjoyed. Thank you so much for you comment and thanks to all the wonderful people here for letting me share my love and passion with you.
  6. Here’s one for this thread, Detective Comics 135, Canadian Edition. OSPG is 171 in GD for the less rare standard edition. only 3 in census
  7. I have Heritage Auction hold my wins until I have enough for the shipping to Canada to be worthwhile. So I wait years to get these books finally in their new home. Got 7 lots in today, lots of Golden Age books, and made a video to savor the event. The highlights are in the thumbnail (first Captain Marvel Jr and first Mary Marvel).
  8. While I get you not wanting that, I think this is what's gonna happen. CGC isn't spending all this money on an acquisition to make as little as possible from it. The way they get the most business from this is to create a service people will want to purchase and what people would want most is for their non witnessed sig books to be as marketable as a witnessed sig book.
  9. They will at least remove the stigma green labels had. Like I don't know if a JSA yellow label would command more than a universal label, but it wouldn't command less (I'm assuming that's the case with green labels these days, with ASM 300 for instance).
  10. ok that makes sense. So half of what's necessary for a witnessed sig could have come from Kevin's team while the other half came from the shop owner I dealt with. I mean, neither are people who work for CGC, which was my main point. But I guess that doesn't matter since what's necessary is the approval from CGC, not their direct presence.
  11. I know for a fact that this sig below wasnt supervised by CGC. Eastman appeared at a local show which had 0 CGC presence. A local comic store owner applied to be a witness and got approved and had Eastman to sign a bunch privately, away from the crowd. While there is 0 incentive to forge Eastman’s sig when he’s right there, all I can do is take their word for it. Could be that they missed or forgot a book and thus forged a sig among the others sent to CGC. unlikely, but there’s no proof one way or another. CGC wasnt there, CGC didnt witness anything, they didn't supervise jack. They are simply taking the word of someone who is bringing in more business for them. And that gives me this nice yellow label book that makes it look like an official CGC witnessed sig. As we saw with the recent scandal, this whole CGC thing is merely trust based, and there could always be people abusing that system.
  12. Aw thanks man! And I’m glad to see you join in on the discussion. What I find so fascinating here are all the balls of yarn this unravels. Like, I may not send my stan lee and jim starlin sigs in, but at least those books wont suffer from a stigma and can retain their value. plus, it means we will get some slabbed kirby sigs on the market in non green holders
  13. Authenticating aint free, and may cost more than a witnessed sig. so it brings you back to the same situation we currently have where you pay the artist only for a witnessed sig. already the label for pedigree books my bet is this will also be yellow but the notation on the label will tell you if it has been witnessed or authenticated
  14. Thats an excellent point, the note on the label would be enough to distinguish one from the other .
  15. Ha! But you know, the running ink test was what told them that Lincoln sig was a photocopy of a forgery
  16. Question though: what is the difference? Both are confirmed real signatures. Also, a CGC witness can literally be anyone who applies for the role. They then have carte blanche and are not supervised by CGC. The colour of the label already doesnt distinguish between a book that is part of a CGC sig event where its officially a CGC rep that witnesses it and a sig witnessed by joe schmo at a con. Both mean that CGC sees the sig as being legit. So if the goal of authentification is the same, legitimizing s signature, then why should the label be any different?
  17. I’m also assuming from what is written that it will be a streamlined process. So you could send your comics to CGC and ask that the unwitnessed signature be verified before slabbing. curious to see what the label will look like
  18. If this topic is discussed elsewhere, please let me know. This news will be quite the game changer for me. A thing I loved to do was get books signed at conventions. However, I had not realized that I was potentially messing with the valuation of my books and while I had great experiences meeting Stan Lee, Jim Starlin, Joe Kubert, Andy Kubert and Glenn Fabry, the books they signed (including some keys) couldn't be valued appropriately in my collection, at least from my perspective. And now it looks like we'll get yellow labels on our signed books that were not witnessed (for an extra fee of course). Don't know if anyone else is as excited as me for this prospect. I also now realize it will add a whole new level of speculation to selling raw books. Where not only is there potential to have a higher grade/value with a press, but also not only make un witnessed signatures no longer detrimental to a sale, but also potentially adding value.
  19. I just wrote in my will that whatever is not wanted by my kids in my collection to be sent to Heritage Auctions.
  20. All of Chip’s storylines so far end with a dud, its really too bad. Is the foil cover selling well simply because its a foil cover?
  21. What’s up with Batman 142? I read it, I dont see how this is a key.
  22. Here’s what I fished out of dollar bins yesterday I didnt know that green lantern cover existed
