Does this Star Wars #42 look like a CGC 9.0 to you?

Thanks for the feedback. I both like the books and I’m definitely speculating a bit. But you make a good point about not jumping on something at the same time as everyone else. At the same time I get this feeling especially about the 300 that it’s going to be one of the easiest books to sell for a long long time.
-
Part of the reason I’m asking is because after paying some bills I’ve discovered I have about 500 to spend on books. I was going to put it towards my Kirby 4th world collection but these books keep popping into my head and I’m wondering if I should use the cash to pick up the 252 and the MTU 141. I have the 300.

I’m terrible at speculating on comics. I always buy what I like without thinking about future value, then when I see an otherwise random comic shoot up in price all I can do is watch from the sideline because it’s almost never what I’m collecting. That being said I’ve been thinking about these 3 books (I realize they’re pretty obvious choices). But as new collectors enter the hobby I get the feeling these 3 are some of the first keys they become aware of and they may even remember seeing them on the rack back in the day. Personally I don’t understand why the black costume is so important. It’s not worn by Spidey these days. The 300 I can understand a little better because of McFarlane. Although when it hit the stands I thought it was a terrible cover ha, but I’ve grown to like it along with the other two. I’m curious what you think about this. Will they continue to climb or are they close to reaching their max value? I’m mainly a BA collector so I am pretty clueless about these books and I apologize if this is an obvious question.

Check out the spinner rack in new Netflix television show

This is a screen grab using home button and power button. No one has Netflix to give it a try? Anyway sorry for the trouble -

I’m watching it on an iPad. To screen grab you press the home button and the power button at the same time. Usually works, or it has in the past while watching a film on Netflix. Recently if I try to do this the screen grab is black. Cannot get it to work. -
I know there’s a topic for this already but I can’t find it so I apologize for that. If you have Netflix there is a new show called The Queen’s Gambit. Takes place in the early 60’s. Go to season 1, episode 2. Fast forward to where there’s 41:20 remaining (not sure if every Netflix player is the same but mine only shows time remaining in the bottom right corner of the player). The actress walks across the street and into a shop. There’s a spinner rack full of comics. They did a great job with authenticity. It’s pretty cool check it out. I would post a screen grab but Netflix no longer allows that.

Just noticed this mark on almost all of my BA comics

Alright I'm embarrassed to say that you all are correct, it's a mark on my scanner. I'm my defense I cannot remove it. I've tried cleaning solution and just my fingernail and it won't budge, in fact I can't even feel it. I say this because I've wipe/dust it regularly while scanning and still the mark remained which is what led me to believe it was a printing mark. So all and all I'm pretty embarrassed. -

Actually I'm going to double check to make sure it's not just a mark on my scanner. But I don't see this on any of my DC books that I've been scanning at the same time. Going to check though. I'll report back. If that's what it is my face will turn bright red -

Good question, but definitely on the books -

Lol. Which part? That I went to so much trouble for such an insignificant query? -
While scanning some books I began to notice this mark on a huge portion of my BA comics, mainly 20 or 25 cent books, only Marvel. All in relatively the same location, upper left-hand corner. Every mark is pretty much identical. Any idea what it’s from specifically. Some type of printing mark but I’m curious if anyone knows what causes it or if anyone else has noticed it before on their books. I put more effort into setting up these pics then any answer could possibly be worth but I didn’t have anything else better to do ha. Also while we’re at it can/does anyone want to name all eight books. Most should be pretty easy. First picture gives the clearest look at the mark. Second picture I’ve circled the mark for each of the eight books. Last picture is just for guessing the books if anyone wants to try. Hopefully you’re able to see what I’m talking about.

Are you happy with the focus of your collection?

I’m only about 16,000 books behind you 😂 -
Changed my response because I don’t want to get the thread locked.

I remember him. If I remember correctly he was putting together the Claremont run in 9.8. If he held on to them he did pretty good. It was prior to the first big Spider-Man movie and all the subsequent superhero movies including all the X-Men and related films. -

Good to hear most folks are for the most part satisfied with their collection. Forgot to mention yesterday Warren Magazines. There are times I’ve thought I should sell everything off and start going after complete runs of Famous Monsters, Creepy, Eerie, Blazing Combat, Vampirella etc.etc. and of course Mad and Cracked. It’ll never happen but my mind does wonder. -
Are you happy with the focus of your collection? Do you ever wish you had more discipline in a certain area/genre? If so what would it be? There are times I look at a collector like bigfiver69 and think how cool it would’ve been to really focus on silver and bronze war books. Or Silver and his awesome collection of SA DC superhero books. Instead my collection is really all over the place. I’m not complaining but there are times I’ve thought about switching it all up.

That Fear #5 is one of my favorite BA horror books. Tough to find in HG. edit: Actually I think it’s just a straight swap of an early SA book, maybe different color pallet but I still dig it

It’s not them but I’m not going to call them out because there’s literally hundreds of sellers that do the same
