Hmmm....the back cover looks like there is spine roll that hasn't been mentioned so maybe I am wrong. If so, I think the grade "as is" will be knocked down. With a press and clean, 9.2ish with same comments as MPH1964 and spine corrected. Nice book!!

Ya, that hurts because the rest of the book is so nice. So, 8.5?? -

I hadn't considered the PayPal fees. To me it seems reasonable at 3% to get a secured payment instantly especially when compared to Ebay My assumption was the sellers were protecting themselves from being ripped off when they accept PayPal.....and I am not criminally creative enough to figure out how they could do that.

Hi, I am thinking about starting to sell on the forum. I currently sell on eBay and the fees...well, you know. When looking at other sellers "terms" for selling I see that at least a few appear hesitant to accept PayPal unless they know you or you have solid references. Can anyone explain to me the potential problems when accepting PayPal?? I did a quick search and didn't really find anything specific. I see many accept personal checks which I am assuming the funds must clear on the sellers side before shipping. Correct? Thanks.

Small Spine Split....Effect on Grade
shootin-str81 replied to shootin-str81's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
OK, finally had time to pull the book in question and think I got a decent pic of the defect. I tried to measure it, looks like 3/16"??? At any rate, more than an 1/8" and less than 1/4"....with my eyes. Also, with the magnified pics, I am changing my original thoughts.....looks like there may have been a "bump" on that corner. I definitely can't see it with my naked eye. Thanks in advance for your help!! -
Official TMNT Speculation Thread
shootin-str81 replied to pubmonkey's topic in Copper Age Comic Books
Sell or Hold.... Since this is a speculation thread, I have a #3 and #4 TMNT first series. I have been out of the comic thing for many years and recently decided to significantly reduce the collection. The prices of books caught me a little off guard...in a good way from a sellers prospective. So my question, sell or hold? They are raw and I am guessing around the 8.0, 8.5 range.....the #4 might be better. So, speculate away!! -
Hi All, I have a modern comic that appears to be 9.6 possibly better but, it has a very small split on the top left corner. It appears to be about 1/8". Doesn't appear to be any impact to the corner, spine is clean, other corners look sharp.... so I am wondering if that would be considered a bindery defect and whether or not that is the case, what is the deduct from the grade. I would post pics but I can't get the split to show up on camera and I definitely don't want to potentially make it worse. Much appreciation for your time and wisdom. Peace

Question, the pic is a Star Wars comic with the glossy cover stock. These books are prone to chipping (?) on the spine fold. Is this a bindery defect or a flaw on the book? What does it do to the grade?? This book was purchased off the shelf by me the day it came into the LCS so I am fairly confident it has never been opened. I appreciate the help. Thanks!!

Please take a look and provide your estimate grade for this well worn ASM 101. I struggle to grade books at this level. The book is complete and the cover is attached. Staples look clean.

Thanks all for the input! Pretty sure this has run its course so I will throw the spoiler in.....I cracked this book that was graded by a service other than CGC planning to send it for a P&C and resubmit to CGC. The reason I asked for the PGM was, 1) To see if the unnamed grading company was close to the consensus of this group, 2) To see what the grade might after a press and clean. I feel like a press and clean will make a big difference with this book. No matter what, even if it comes back at the same grade it will be a better book in the end and being graded by CGC definitely makes it easier to sell. The grade assigned by that other unnamed service was.... Thanks again!!
